nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

That's what I get when I hold the n down.
Same here...
Here's the ASCII codes:
You have to hold the ALT key down and type the code on your keyboard number pad...doesn't work with the numbers on the top row of your keyboard, and it doesn't work with a laptop keyboard since most don't have number pads.

Drew, since you brought up mismatched socks and such...this was probably 40 years ago, close to it.
I got up one morning, got SSS'd then dressed for work (I was doing some kind of contract quality job, administration of some sort). I was also taking a real estate course in the afternoon.
Somehow or another, I put one brown shoe and one black shoe on...both dressy shoes. I didn't notice this until the real estate class after work, so I'd been walking around all day with mismatched shoes. The real kicker was, the black shoe had shoelaces, the brown shoe was a slip-on

Never could figure out how I did that...

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 4:00AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High around 60F. Winds light and variable.
Still no rain in the 10-day.
The big excitement yesterday were the tsunami warnings for the coast. I've seen the tsunami zone warning signs along US101 and CA1 for years, and there's a reason they're there. Yet people continue to live in and build in those zones. Pretty spectacular satellite photos of the volcanic eruption...

Glad your Snowmageddon was a bust, Paul. Hope the same is true for those on the east coast. If more people planned for the worst and hoped for the best, there'd be a lot less drama in the world.

Speaking of drama, after a week of no word, shipping status on that lost FedEx package of brake parts has been updated to delivery today. Pardon me if I don't hold my breath.

Glad you found your phone before you ran over it with the tractor or stepped on it, Billy. Not everyone needs to be an over achiever like David, I guess. 😄

Turns out my notes were wrong with respect to the alarm system on the van, and instead of interrupting the coil wire to immobilize it, I interrupted the wire to the starter relay. In the process of tracing wires, though, I found a bad crimp connection and a mystery relay that seems to be related to the A/C system. Groan. Just what I needed, another dragon egg. Fixed the bad crimp using a real crimping tool, as the previous joker seemed to prefer a pair of Vise Grips. I'll have to call the manufacturer of the A/C system for info on the relay Monday.

The van still starts easily, but I was able to reproduce the crank-no-start issue by removing either of the main power or fuel pump relays. I've replaced the fuel pump relay with a new one, and supposedly a new main power relay is also on its way here. Not wanting to get too far from home, I started making loops around the yard, thinking if it's a loose wire somewhere, bouncing around on the rough ground might kill the engine. Nope, not today. What I did find, though, is that every time it descended a steep hill in 1st gear with my foot off the gas, it would trigger a P0505 DTC error code. That has something to do with the Idle Air Control Valve not being able to manipulate the engine RPM, which of course it can't do if the transmission is in gear. So there's a thread to pull during the next round of blind-pig-looking-for-acorns.

Filled up the firewood dolly with the wood that was stacked on the last of the wooden pallets, so today I need to bring in one of the new steel pallets from the shipping container. Which involves moving three motorcycles out of the way and swapping the grapple for the forks, so I'll be at it for a while. It'll be a good excuse for sweeping out the garage while I'm at it.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

Good Morning.
It’s 3 degrees outside, as I lay under the warm comforter. It’s supposed to get steadily warmer with snow changing to heavy rain as the storm moves up the coast.

Yesterdays trip was not entirely in eventful. The line person that fueled us did not properly secure a fuel cap, and neither I or my copilot caught it until after takeoff. A quick return to the airport where they secured it only cost us about 8 minutes. The rest of the trip was more to my liking, it was nice to trade single digit temperature and a 20kt wind for this, even if it was for only a half hour.

After a quick trip to Lowes this morning, today will be spent doing some electrical work in the shop and a few trivial plumbing tasks in the house.

Good morning! 13 now, 34 later. The ice/snow is supposed to start late this afternoon. Need to get some gas and pre-treat the sidewalk this afternoon. I can see I will be up early in the morning clearing the snow, I have MSHA refresher training at 7:30 tomorrow morning.

Just took it easy yesterday. Did clean up in the garage. Adjusted the friction drive on the snow blower, found a bolt missing in the cutting edge.

Grocery store trip later this morning, bring some wood in the house, then find something from there to get into.

Everyone stay safe out there!

Up at 3 am with a faulty furnace. -3 outside is not a good time for issues!
Hit the reset a few times. Called the furnace peeps and he came out at 5 am and replaced the fuel solenoid.(don't have one of those) Running fine so far! Glad we purchased furnace repair insurance. No charge for the call out.
Nothing else going on around here. Tractor is ready for the storm. Guess it's a wait and see kind of day.
Wife and I are still doing fine.
Hope everyone stays safe, warm, dry and healthy!

it's bottomed out at 4 degrees here. Storm will be a rain event for us tonight, plus high winds, sounds like miserable weather
for you folks West and South of here. Be careful out there, no slips, no falls

Phil, glad you got fast service on your furnace. At -3 house will sure get cold fast.

Paul was it a blinking light that tipped you off?

Good morñing! 30˚F heading to the upper 50s light NW wind, bright sunny blue skies.
Church and self PT today trying to match yesterday but staring off with sore thigh muscle that needs to be worked out.

New Covid cases still around a thousand a day - as soon as we have a week of mostly triple digits we can say the covid has reached it's peak and is going down, hopefully this week. No cards this afternoon as that is prime time for knee PT and 2 hours of mostly sitting is not beneficial for me at this point.

Phil, That insurance paid itself off with the Sunday Morning, 5am, -3˚ successful service call.

One thing constant about knee replacement recovery is that everyone is so different. No one will state narrow approximate times of certain milestones in the recovery process. The times of issues resolving themselves are given in wide time ranges like Egore's standard answer - "6 weeks to 6 months" when I ask him a question.

I guess that's why there was a core charge on the calipers. About thirty-five bux for the calipers, and about the same for the core. Only worth while returning them if they'll fit in one of those smaller "If It Fits, It Ships" boxes the USPS sells.

Then again, I could have gone with super fancy racing calipers, at almost ten times the price. But then pads that FedEx has lost wouldn't have fit. That's my excuse, and I'm stickin' with it... 😄

RNG - you may be all set for parts, but I thought I'd post on Ford truck-pads anyway, as a PSA.

USA stock may be better (altho, pretty much everything is a mess today...), but this was my experience up here with brake pads on older Ford trucks. At least on the Superdutys (not sure F150), Ford has severe-duty Motocraft pads for most '250 and '350 trucks.

What's a bit odd, is that the counter pricing at the dealer is often LESS for the Motorcraft severe duty pads, than the regular ones. Up here, those prices are inline, or sometimes better, than decent after-market pads.

The catch, at Canadian Ford dealers - they often don't have them on the shelf, BUT can usually (pre-Covid at least) get them on their overnight Parts Run from whatever central warehouse they pull from, w/o any extra shipping charges.

I wanted those specific severe-duty pads; it was a bonus that in our market the price was very competitive. Last point about those specific pads - if a Ford dealer tells you they don't exist, check Rock Auto for a PN. You can then take that Motorcraft PN back to Ford, and ask them to backtrack it to your VIN. On one of mine, Rock had it right, when Ford didn't. Not picking on Ford..... it's just that Rock has probably the best database in the general Parts world....

Closer to thread.... Cold...... I have a youtube Jazz channel on the big screen - a guy from Mississippi is complaining about it being Cold in the Chat..... all what you get used to..... was -26C last night here, but that's relatively balmy for some of the Great White Nord.....

Stay Warm, and Dry, and enjoy the day....
