Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 4:00AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High around 60F. Winds light and variable.
Still no rain in the 10-day.
The big excitement yesterday were the tsunami warnings for the coast. I've seen the tsunami zone warning signs along US101 and CA1 for years, and there's a reason they're there. Yet people continue to live in and build in those zones. Pretty spectacular
satellite photos of the volcanic eruption...
Glad your Snowmageddon was a bust, Paul. Hope the same is true for those on the east coast. If more people planned for the worst and hoped for the best, there'd be a lot less drama in the world.
Speaking of drama, after a week of no word, shipping status on that lost FedEx package of brake parts has been updated to delivery today. Pardon me if I don't hold my breath.
Glad you found your phone before you ran over it with the tractor or stepped on it, Billy. Not everyone needs to be an over achiever like David, I guess.
Turns out my notes were wrong with respect to the alarm system on the van, and instead of interrupting the coil wire to immobilize it, I interrupted the wire to the starter relay. In the process of tracing wires, though, I found a bad crimp connection and a mystery relay that seems to be related to the A/C system. Groan. Just what I needed, another dragon egg. Fixed the bad crimp using a real crimping tool, as the previous joker seemed to prefer a pair of Vise Grips. I'll have to call the manufacturer of the A/C system for info on the relay Monday.
The van still starts easily, but I was able to reproduce the crank-no-start issue by removing either of the main power or fuel pump relays. I've replaced the fuel pump relay with a new one, and supposedly a new main power relay is also on its way here. Not wanting to get too far from home, I started making loops around the yard, thinking if it's a loose wire somewhere, bouncing around on the rough ground might kill the engine. Nope, not today. What I did find, though, is that every time it descended a steep hill in 1st gear with my foot off the gas, it would trigger a P0505 DTC error code. That has something to do with the Idle Air Control Valve not being able to manipulate the engine RPM, which of course it can't do if the transmission is in gear. So there's a thread to pull during the next round of blind-pig-looking-for-acorns.
Filled up the firewood dolly with the wood that was stacked on the last of the wooden pallets, so today I need to bring in one of the new steel pallets from the shipping container. Which involves moving three motorcycles out of the way and swapping the grapple for the forks, so I'll be at it for a while. It'll be a good excuse for sweeping out the garage while I'm at it.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!
