btw, I sure kept the yummy apple date nut bread Mrs Popgadget baked for me. Now that's quality calories...and the dates mean less sugar.

Good morning, low temp 18 and high going up to 19°F. Wind N 11 mph. Cloudy.

I remember in other years where I tried scraping the wet, sloppy snow off the driveway and made a colossal mess with ruts about 4" deep to fill with snow at the next snowfall, so I opted to leave it alone.

The three of us tried to demolish a 14 lb bird. I only eat dark meat and it was all I could do to get through one thigh and a helping of stuffing. For a snack before I went to bed I had the sweet potato cold and it was a meal in itself. 4" in diameter and 7" long. Junior did an excellent job on the whole meal.

For the first time I can remember, that cats all seemed to get along together, a generous helping of catnip did the job.

Now that sounds like fun, shooting targets with ricochets off a propane tank. Did you at least hit the target? :D

Now I get to listen to the Queens message, if I can find it. I might be Canadian but she is still the Queen of my country. I swore allegiance to her in 1964 and nobody has released me from that oath.

Have a safe day all

It was 38F and cloudy @ 03:15, headed up to a high of 45F for the day. Ten Day shows highs in the 40's and 50's through next Saturday, then turning a little colder.

Was up way too early @ 02:45 after heading to bed just after 18:00 yesterday evening. I had gotten up earlier than I planned to/should have yesterday morning when my phone went off with an incoming text with Christmas Greetings ... so was running a little short on sleep.

Just started the coffee brewing after some Thomas' Raisin Bread and letting The Squeak in from the garage.

Did manage to get cedar hopper feeder built yesterday, but other than that not much progress on the other items. Back to it today.

The Woman was feeling a little under the weather Christmas Eve and when she woke up on Christmas morning. She typically has some sinus drainage in the morning when she wakes up, said it felt like it had moved down into her lungs and she had no energy.

She didn't feel so bad that she was unable to make the Layer Bar Cookies however ... :)

She's off today ... so we might head over to the local pharmacy and get her a COVID test.

We had planned to head over to relatives for Christmas Dinner but took a pass on it in light of how she was feeling, possibility of the 'Rona, etc.

Plus one of the extended family had been dispatched in the previous few days to work on a job at a local hospital, which he said was just full of COVID patients. He actually offered to skip coming over to his mother's for Christmas, if we were concerned about his potential exposure. As it turned out, we didn't even need to go there, as The Woman was feeling under the weather anyways. Will need to catch up today and see how Christmas dinner turned out.

The daily case count for the state hit 12,907 back on the 20th, which is closing in on peak of 13,373 back in November of 2020. Hospitalizations seem to be running about 25% less though, which is certainly good assuming that it keeps up.

Got an email from Menards that the additional driveway markers in, so they will need to be picked up at some point.

Just finished filling out the first ten plant markers, need to get Coleus, Catnip, and Catmint planted today, along with getting the Lavender seeds into the refrigerator so they can cold stratify for the next several months.

Hope everyone has a great day ... (y)

Good morning! 64˚F heading to the upper 70s foggy. I’m in the flex machine early to get knee going.

There have been no updates on new Covid cases for a week, they start back the 28th.

Is anyone finding Covid test hard to find? Our Walgreens sold out.

RS hope your wife did not get Covid.

I see where the queen left out her grandchildren living in California in her Christmas message.

Traveling and sitting for any length of time is still painful so I’ll stay home today and do PT, elevate, ice, repeat. I'm trying to cut pain meds by half and lost some sleep last night, but naps are good.

Wngsprd, watch out for those ricochets, you’ll shoot your eye out.

Plans for today...try scrape much snow ice from driveway with back blade...

Enjoy your day all.
No back blade here, but I'll do a couple passes on the drive with the front blade...not sure how well it'll do since the cutting edge is hard rubber...we'll see.
Than spread some salt on the drive in front of the garage doors and clean off the ice on the truck.
This won't be for a few hours...only 27 right now...should get just above freezing this afternoon...

We did get a dusting of snow...looks to be a quarter to half inch...

Good Morning
It’s 42 and only going to 45 under a clear and sunny sky.

Yesterday was a great day. The rain held off letting use the outdoor griddle to cook bacon, sausage and scrapple for breakfast, while the kitchen was busy taking care of the rest of the feast. Daughter brought cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing which were a big hit, as was the cut up fresh fruit.
There is nothing like watching a less than two year old opening and enjoying presents. Even if they are the wrong color!

Then like the cat in the hat, they were all gone and everything cleaned up buy 1 pm. And a wonderful time was had by all.

Not sure what’s on today’s agenda, but it won’t be plowing snow.
Grandson still hasn’t tested the car seat in the little plane, and it is a nice day, so you never know, but his father should be the one to take him first.
Other than that we will take it as it rolls by.

As a sad note, a local family had their house burn down on Christmas Eve, the father and two children didn’t make it out, only the mother and one child survived. A go fund me was started Christmas morning and it’s now over $400,000.

Good Morning!!!! 36F @ 5:30AM. Rain showers early will evolve into a more steady rain for the afternoon. High around 45F. Winds SSE at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 80%. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
There's also a freeze watch in effect for tonight through Thursday. Just the incentive I've been waiting for to get the insulation back onto the pipes that were exposed during the big tank installation. I also will drain the drip lines that run up onto the roof.

What a great gift, Billy. But I'd be surprised if that BB did so much as chip the paint on that tank, though... 😄

Good progress on the knee, Don, but try not to do too much, too soon, OK? I'll stick with skim milk for my oatmeal, thank you very much.

Welcome to the GM thread, repeat!

And to you, inane2. Some Four Roses found it's way into my glass last night after dinner, too.

Nice to see more new faces here, Ray.

You definitely rate the Christmas Over Achiever award for Christmas 2021, RS!

Got in touch yesterday with my oldest childhood friend, and spent a good hour yaking about our misspent youth. It's a wonder we both survived this long, let alone with both eyes and all our fingers intact. It's been more than ten years since our last conversation, and in spite of promises to do better, it might well be another ten before I hear from him again. Just his nature to keep to himself, I guess.

Did a little organizing and packing for the trip, then mid evening got an email from the electrical utility that the power was out. Never even saw the lights filcker when the system switched over to battery power, or when it came back on line an hour or so later.

By then I'd nodded off in front of the TV, so I just went to bed. Another quiet Christmas.

That little incident caused me to notice that the monitor software for the solar power system has stopped reporting, and it seems there's a bad ethernet cable going out to the supporting switch. So that's also on the todo list for today, too.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend.

Had a quiet day yesterday, had made two large pans of lasagna.
As the morning progressed put one in the freezer and cooked just one.
Ended up with just my wife and me and one brother that came by.
I used the york rake on the ice in the driveway, it did a pretty good job of breaking it up and stirred a bit of dirt up with it.

I'll stick with skim milk for my oatmeal, thank you very much.
Ha, I just went with water with my oatmeal this morning because the bean milk just looked like bean juice.
I can't give up after just one recipe failure. The machine works good for "milk" I just have to find the right recipe.
I'm trying to stay away from the nut milks because of the fat content. Some non-nut recipes include:
5 Hemp seeds milk recipes
3 Pumpkin seed milk recipes
2 sesame seed milk recipes
3 sunflower seed milk recipes
5 oak milk recipes
3 rice milk recipes
1 soy bean milk recipe
