62F but we wind is shifting after a night of tornadoes. It was 70 at midnight.
I am about 15+ miles from our county seat Mayfield, Kentucky USA. We lost the county courthouse and City Hall from the tornado last night. When daybreak comes we will know more. It also hit Kentucky post 1 and that was 911 and the major communication system for the county of Graves county.

I think the power has been off all night county wide.

Terrible night down there. Prayers for all.

My son in AR was in the hallway during the storms.

It may do that. Use a product that helps devolve rust. Fill cleaner with distilled water then put wrench in plastic bottle with rust remover. Use non flammable.

It’s been sitting in a pan, sprayed with penetrating oil, over a year. Occasionally I try to move it. The screw is stuck so can’t remove it.

Blustery to 30mph+ and temp falling like a rock, 85F yesterday, 35F tomorrow morning. I had the son get the fireplace ready to burn. It's sitting there waiting for a match.

Drew, I will give my wife extra kiss and hug, but I hope to make pancakes this morning if we have the ingredients.

I put the FEL back on the bigger tractor to move the haybales up front. My wife's uncle is buying them. The money will go into a "kitty" fund to buy parts to repair my friend's equipment.

Randy, have you ever tried to sew 40 oz pvc tarp material? They use it on hay disc cutter curtains. The material isn't crazy high, but the price of a complete curtain is $450 on up. Somebody could probably make a living if they could get the labor content to $200.

Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 5:45AM. Partly cloudy skies this morning will become overcast during the afternoon. High 53F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Looks like the storm will come in overnight, opening the door to a series that might leave as much as 6" of rain before it clears up again for Friday.

The weather folks have told us that the climate is heating up, and it makes sense to me that with more energy in the system, we'll see both higher higs and lower lows temperature wise. Sort of like how a mass/spring/damper system bounces more if you hit it harder. And storms will be stronger because they have more energy to draw upon. No one has said there's more energy falling onto the planet, but with more CO2 in the atmosphere, more energy is being trapped at the Earth's surface.

As long as those rollies don't fall off, Paul, I'd say you've vound a happy coincidence. More ground clearance means you'd also have to lift them higher, and that could present a problem depending on how much they weigh.

BMW used lots of tapers on their airhead motorcycles, Kyle. They also provided special pullers to the dealers, and made sure there were strategically placed threads so there would be something for the pullers to engage. For example, the alternator rotor fastens to the front of the crankshaft on a taper, and both the ID of the rotor and the ID of the crank nose are threaded. A simple bolt holds the rotor in place, but a special bolt with a long, unthreaded, nose is used as a puller. That bolt engages the threads on the ID of the rotor while the long nose bottoms out in the crank, reaching through the crank threads without engagement. I wonder of something like that could be incorporated on your Miller now that the threaded nose is missing.

Finally finished up the new bag mounts for the touring bike, and got them smoothed enough for paint. It's too cold to spray, so I'm just going to brush on POR-15 Chassis Coat in a semigloss black. It levels out very well, so the brush strokes will virtually disappear. It's hard as nails after it dries, and is impervious to solvents and gasoline, so it'll probably out last me.

Might try to get a little gravel spread before the rain comes in, or finish dragging that big tree up off the hill and cover up the ruts I made in the driveway. Also need to clean up the mess I made in the garage from all that grinding...

Good morning! 60 now and was drizzling. Temps are supposed to fall today.

Thoughts to everyone affected by the storms. Looked bad in the news this morning.

Sitting in the chair at the eye doctors. Overdue for new glasses. Called yesterday, they had a cancellation and a spot available at 10:15 this morning or end of January. Sold!

Last year was a bit different….

Today was highs and lows. Started off with a blood draw and the ****** Youth trashing my room. Shawna straightened the room up before she left. I appreciated that.

My day shift nurse was some one I know. Renee used to date a co-worker. We had drank some beer together at some social events. Throat was sore from talking to Shawna too much and the NG tube, Renee teased me about guess we had to drink beer to get me to talk to her. She also congratulated me as the only patient assigned to her that day that could talk.

Due to the critical situation with several patients, we really didn’t get to talk much.

The guy in the room next to me was still removing his mask. I heard a doctor tell him they may not be able to get to him in time and he needed to stop removing the mask….

Got a visit from Dr. Deb B and someone to evaluate my mental state. I was grouchy over how things had gone since Thursday. I was also bored. I got asked if I wanted my phone or iPad, chose the iPad and my wife was able to bring it to the hospital. I was also prescribed an anxiety med on request. Found it helped me sleep, so on the rare occasion I asked for it, was to sleep.

The iPad did wonders. I could check up on TBN and other sites, solitaire, news, etc. and I could access my charts as they were posted thru the hospital portal. I did a lot of researching what assorted terms they used and began to understand better where I stood.

I looked up Covid intestine. Discovered it wasn’t common but had a 44% survival rate. Add in double Covid pneumonia and that dropped to under 30%. That was eye opening.

I was pretty much oblivious the rest of the day. I was reconnecting to the world. Plus the nurses were very busy and largely left me alone.

Shawna was back that night. Evening started quietly. She was in my room watching “Blue Planet” on BBC with me. I dozed off at some point. About 11:30 I woke up to the PA calling Code Blue in one of the rooms. In fairly quick succession there were 4 more, including the room beside me. He had pulled the mask off once too often.

I saw very little of any nurses that night and understood. It was very sobering laying there realizing 5 people passed in step down in quick succession.

I must have dozed off and woke up about 4:30 AM. Someone was sitting in the chair beside my bed that was there for me to sit up in during therapy. There was a hand laying on my right hand. It was Shawna. She was very subdued, I think she may have been crying. 2 of the 5 patients were assigned to her and she was having a tough time. We talked quietly for about 30 minutes. It was a special time….

She got herself together, did my vitals and gave me my meds just before the blood draw. She was back before the end of shift, thanked me for being understanding, and told me to get better so I could be home for Christmas.

I'm still worried about separating the engine from the welding end. It too, has a tapered end which drives the flange plate coupler. The below is all I have to go by as far as assembly detail.

It looks like the rotor unbolts from #7 letting you separate the generator. Once that’s off you could bolt a bar across opposing holes on #7 to put some pressure on the loosened bolt into the crank. A smart blow from your largest hammer centered over the bolt should pop it right off. Disclaimer- I have never taken the rotor off of a Roughneck, but have taken them off of dozens of other generators. I’m sure that that crankshaft is probably only used on that generator, and likely impossible to replace, but I would at least give it a try before trying to rework that one.

If you have to rework it, and you have a lathe, or access to one, that’s how I would drill the flywheel side, as you would likely have the crank out anyway for the overhaul.

I can't imagine being without at least my phone that long, Rich. No wonder you were grumpy. Do you think you could have had it back sooner if you'd have asked, or were they purposely trying to keep you out of communication with the world? My impression, even though I've never been in jail, is that there's very little difference between it and a hospital. You have no money, no access to your street clothes, limited means of communication with the world, and people telling what you can and can not do all day and night. You have lost your liberty, and will not get it back until someone else decides you should have it again.

very successful morning. Got the shed parts stacked for pickup, then after unbolting two more bolts than instructions said, we were
successful in getting old snowblower battery out and new one secured back in. Then downtown to pick up some meds and dropped off the last little
bag of radishes I picked to my brother's home. He likes to pickle them in his drink at night.

yukky day out, grey, misting, but winds haven't picked up yet.
Looks like a fine afternoon for watching an Amazon movie.

My cottage tenants passed final inspection of their new house yesterday. Still things to be done, but they are hopeful to start moving next week. Great tenants and good friends, Apr would be 5 years. Gonna miss them.

Should be back on greenhouse today.

HD scheduled to deliver the microwave for caretaker unit.

Boy, after nursing my wife the last weeks, I understand why nurses drink!!
Mostly, my job is to get her food, get her to the toilet and listen to her constant bitchin'
A shot or two...or three, makes it much more tolerable
Good thing she doesn't have access to TBN!!

Watching "The Bride of Frankenstein"...dump run is done, chores are done...

Enough slush out there...gonna be a slippery night and I ain't going anywhere!!

Yes, it’s very tough on critical care nurses. Good friend is one. She said she see’s too many dying.
