Morning everyone! 26 here going to the lower 40's with sun.

Misread the clock this morning and got up at 3:15 not 5! LOL. Oh well, I'm used to getting up early anyway.
Not much going on here. Picking up leaves and filling the pellet stove are the main activities. That's ok with me.
Wife and I are doing fine health wise.
Going to a retirement lunch today for one of the guys I used to work with. Will be fun seeing some of the old crew.
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Good morning! 42 on the way to 62 today.

Took another half day of vacation yesterday. Had a mid-afternoon vet appointment for the one cat. That was a down day with the news from the vet. So didn’t get much done when I got home.

And one year ago, today was the 2nd day I felt sick. I had been fine on Tuesday. Most of these memories are by day, not date….strange the way I am remembering it.

Had an odd call yesterday morning, was from AZ, could barely understand the caller who was asking how to put a machine into low gear to load it on a trailer. I asked for a model or serial number. He gave me an invalid number. Asked probably 4 more times for the info I needed, he never gave me a valid #. So I hung up. He kept trying to call back….I let it ring. The guy covering the technical calls yesterday afternoon texted me he got the same call and ended up doing the same thing.

Everyone stay safe out there

good morning all
28 degrees going up to about 60 in sun and clouds
Headed to local appliance store where I ordered a new basic electric stove six months ago. Need to find a solution here, may have to buy a fancier model
than I want. If they have no solutions for me, will have to ask for deposit back.

school board zoom meeting all afternoon, training session put on by National Association of Independent Schools. (NAIS)
DEI has now morphed into DEIB. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and now Belonging. Brave new world...

truck looks nice, they cleaned up the inside nicely, but did not remember that I asked them for nothing shiny other than wax. So my tires are all glossy black, which I think
looks fake and don't like, and worse, they sprayed cleaner/sealant on the rubber foot strips on the running boards, making them slippery. Slippery running boards are not good...
next time I wash truck will take some straight liquid soap and wash those parts. I get the transmission fluid changed in two weeks and then I'll be done getting it into shape.
They charged me 25 bucks extra to run an ozone machine inside truck to kill any lasting odor, seems to work, no more dog smell.
This truck really is too big for me. Keeping my eye on new Ranger or Maverick, waiting for market to calm down again. Or if GM would ever put a more modern/nicer interior in their Colorado,
I'd rather get their truck with the little diesel in it. Have a friend with one who is very happy with it.

and yes, had a nice chat with ex wife. Somewhat bittersweet since her husband, who I like very much, is on the end game of some blood cancer, 11 years in when most don't last 10 years so she
isn't overly confident about the future. Not sure any of us are but why it pays to make the most out of every day.

Phil, feeding the pellet stove sounds like good work. Nothing better than sitting next to a wood stove, enjoying all that toasty heat

32 outside this AM. Heading up to 66. Should be a nice day to work outside. Need to finish up burn piles.

Still moving debris from septic install. I had thought my grapple days were over when the wife got her tractor. But I can see now that implement that we never got sure would come in handy. This is the second run with the RTV and it looks like at least two more are in order.

Other than this pile....I think I will just call it a day.

Hope all are getting better, have a good day, and be safe in what you do.

Good morning, low 27, high 41°F. Wind E 14 mph. Periods of rain mixed with freezing rain. Freezing rain warning.
Freezing rain warning in effect for:

North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
West Nipissing - French River
Freezing rain expected today.

A wintery mix of snow, ice pellets and possibly freezing rain will continue this morning. Precipitation will change over to freezing rain late in the morning. Several hours of freezing rain are possible before the precipitation changes to rain this afternoon or evening as temperatures rise above freezing.

That was issued at 04:54 this morning.
I hope it stays north. Maybe only 20 miles but that is O.K. to me. Powassan is almost exactly 1/2 way from me to North Bay.

New CPU and motherboard and ram are all here and installed in the case, now I am getting the same error messages that I get with the laptop, which crashes every 4-6 hours.
The only thing that works correctly out of the box is the new Sennheiser headphones.

I've got nothing planned for today, so I will conserve energy.

Have a safe day all

bet those headphones sound great Bill
drive carefully, ice over bridges always bad news

Rip, that looks familiar, yes, Santa should bring you a grapple.
Visions of the very end of one of those branches snagging on your fence gate, and it all falls off.
Been there done that.

pretty frosty morning out here
time for more coffee
thank goodness for remote start on my truck

Good Morning.
It’s 27 and going to about twice that today.

Yesterday was spent running around, car got it’s software update, and doesn’t seem to be any worse for the wear. I always worry about collateral damage with any update. I installed the extra capacity kit on the Eley hose reel, I am impressed with the quality, even if it is made out of Chinesium.

I think I might move another load of hay while the ground is frozen this morning. Lunch with some old friends, other than that, I’ll take it as it comes.

I had one of those fancy Eley water reels mounted on the back of my house in NC. I used that hose to water three standing gardens and gardens all the way around the house,
so lot of tugging on that reel. It just worked marvelously. Yes I'd like it made in the US with US made Timken bearings on it. Not going to happen, look how expensive it is already to cover
the cost of that level of quality already.

Stuff made in Taiwan, where all the semiconductors are made, is probably made to a generally high standard to begin with. It's the stuff made
in Northern China up where they suppress all those ethnic minorities that bothers me. I'm pretty sure China can make just about anything we can and to almost the same spec.
My dream tractor, that five ton Massey was built in China. In a super modern robotic factory Agco built there. Robots don't seem to care where they are...though final QC likely takes some
very well trained humans.

So the Chinesium may be of decent quality. Hope so considering how much of it there is out there...
Those folks have been copying our stuff for so long they might have it right by now.

That reminds me of when I was looking at standby generators to replace my almost 30 year old one that failed. I asked a friend in the industrial generator business what I should get. He said Generac, I replied that their residential units were always junk compared to Onan, Kohler, Katolight etc. His response was that they are still junk, but the others were all building junk for that market now, and that Generac had been building cheap generators for so long, they were getting good at it, while the others were still learning. He also said that’s why he avoids the residential market.

Good afternoon. Back inside earlier than I expected, forgot to take water with me so decided to come back for a cup of tea and a bit of a rest before I do any more chain sawing in the wetland.

After many misty days it is to good to see the sun again, especially as most trees are finally turning colour.

Smart kid ! (and I'm sure a very proud dad )

Morning all, sunny and 28, that should off the bugs for a bit.
Rebuilt the dog gate for the upper deck last night, came out good, used 2x4 for the backing instead of the 1x4 which could not take the wind knocking it around.

Started looking at leaf vacuums, saw a few cyclone's but they were gone before I could even make the call.
Not time critical, but it would be nice to have one since I spend so much time doing this.

Have any of you tried a lawn sweeper? Good enough for an acre or two of lawn?

Rich- I don't remember the 1st or 2nd day-just remember watching my o2 going down to around 70% and being out of it. I have a coworker that is going on 2 years of symptoms, we are constantly hoping he does a full recover.

Rip-is that a vehicle under all that brush  Wish I had a grapple too, could borrow my neighbors, but I don;t have a 3rd function, so it won't help. The forks help a bit, but certainly not a grapple.

I looked at the Pferd sharpener and could not find the exact match for my chain, 7/32 and 3/8 were not a combination, 7/32 and .404 were. oh well, bought a kit from Oregon instead to hold my files and get me a raker file since that saw chain is so different from my smaller saw.

Aunt seems to be doing well recovering from her fall, Uncle still having hip problems and using a walker.

Stay safe and be well,

We have been enjoying the cooler Fall weather, but yesterday afternoon it began to feel too warm in the house for both of us, so I turned the HVAC back to cooling for awhile. And now . . . the forecast for today is currently 64 degrees and going for a high of 84. But at least the NWS seems to think this will be our last warm day for awhile.

,
I have a 5 ft lawn sweeper. It is a Paddock brand. Bought it for picking up bamboo leaves. It does a great job. They work best on short grass. I tow it behind my ride-on mower.

I had a Parker lawn sweeper years ago. Was ok for grass. But useless for leaves. Bought a used Trac-Vac many years ago. Mounted it on back of my JD 735. It had a 5 hp motor and 6” hose. Worked good for grass. But filled up way to fast for leaves.
Got rid of it when I found a Trac-Vac 880. 8hp, 8” hose and 44 bushel cart. Does a super job picking up grass and leaves. Non of the pickup systems I have work good when grass or leaves are wet. Plan on cleaning out hose when they clog up.
My neighbor that has a Kubota BX with a grass catcher. It works great with grass. But fills up way to fast for leaves. We hooked my Trac-Vac to his mower. Works great. We both have 60” mowers.
Other neighbor has a Cyclone. Likes it a lot. But has problems with wet leaves.
