The kale chips at the meeting were a hit. Several people came up to me and were amazed at the taste. There was one guy that had started the WFPB diet 2 months ago because his Dr. told him to, because of his cholesterol and problems with statins. He said he is about 80% compliant and was having a hard time giving up bacon but my kale chips have filled that void - now that was a compliment! The combination of ingredients are special to satisfy the umami taste buds.

Next month we head to a local restaurant where they will prepare a "special" meal for our group. Everyone expressed an interest in starting a potluck get-together but that will have to wait a tad longer when we are out of the red covid zone.

Only a few wore mask at the meeting and I had an interesting discussion with one mask wearer. The vaccine does not work on him. He has had 3 Moderna shots and has been tested 4 times at different locations and has zero antibodies. Everyone is different. However he has joined the right club. There are excellent results, in one study they found plant-eaters had a 73% reduced rate of moderate to severe covid-19 compared to others and "high protein low carb" eaters in the study had almost a 50% increase in moderate to severe covid compared to others.

A glass of bourbon would be a better choice
After reading your post, I had a shot of Maker's Mark chased by a PBR...
in my house….Buffalo Trace, Evan Williams BIB, or Bulleit Rye. And chased with nothing….except another one

The George Floyd incident was the largest protest in the history of the US.
Folks seem more on edge.

I think I need a glass of wine after all that.

That’s enough to make anyone start drinking. I’m trying to figure out what any of it has to do with a school board meeting.

Artificial tree is best thing I bought. Used to get the live tree, spend hours getting it, putting in stand, stringing lights. Now just carry 3 sections up from basement, stack together, plug in. My jobs done.

Had to check the news to see if Kenosha was on fire yet. The mob is ready, going to be ugly.

Got off interstate an exit early on way home to get food. Didn’t get food because of long lines. Driving backroad next to interstate, I see interstate is stopped. That worked out.
Heated up food at home, missed mid week Bible study.

Need to get to bed to repeat tomorrow.

Yeah, one doesn't have to look to deep to figure out why US test scores are quickly on their way to the septic tank. Too preoccupied with social engineering instead of teaching them the stuff they'll need to succeed in life.

I've tried every attachment I could find to do leaves and this with a small blower is the best there is. It chops up the leaves into small enough pieces that I can pick up leaves for about 20 minutes without stopping. It fills it up full every time.

Only minus is it doesn't dump good,(I use a rake to pull out the leaves)and it is really big the rest of the year.

Bulleit Rye...great stuff!!

The only reason I bought the Maker's Mark is my stepdaughter wanted to try an Old Fashioned. Bulleit would have worked too, but I thought I'd go with a standard bourbon. She didn't care for it, so I'll sip it over the next week or two and she can stick with the Jameson (loves that, and so do I)

I'm considering the same leaf vac...had any problems, other then the dump thing?

What do you mean by "and it is really big the rest of the year."? Hard to store or park, or takes up too much room?

40° right now...damp though. High about 60.
Going to try to make a quick dump run this morning since I'll be working at the plant this Saturday

Had an echocardiogram yesterday. Kind of weird watch one's own heart beat. Other the the rate being a little fast, nothing else wrong...but I'll get the final report in a day or so.
Before that, I picked up what I hope is an indoor/outdoor floodlamp to replace one blown out. It's bright and I hope it holds up. Then picked up three prescriptions (old folks take a lot of pills!!)
When I got home, I added some Power Service white bottle and another additive (also Power Service brand) that's supposed to clean the fuel lines and injectors. I probably should get the biocide too, since the diesel is normally in the tank for months.
It was pretty chilly (maybe mid to upper 30's) when I got home. After adding those additives, I started the 4052 and let it run at high idle (1500 RPM) for about 20 minutes. One thing about Yanmar engines...as long as the battery is good, no problems starting in cold weather and they do warm pretty quickly.
After the warm up, I did rig the extension cord and plugged the tractor's block heater in. No need to plug it in the wall socket yet, but I like to leave it plugged in to the tractor so when I do need it, I can just go to the garage (attached) and plug it in.

good morning all
busy day, dermatologist appt early, then off to church to blow leaves.
Have five 5ah batteries for my Makita blower, when they are done, I'm likely to be done too.
Also need to do a little more walkway grouting.
then rain comes in tonight but today will be in 60's so hope grout has a little time to set up.

A little sensitivity training won't hurt most people so I just smile at some of the stuff being presented
at these school board training sessions. These are not public board meetings, just training for new board members.
I still want to know how I'm supposed to answer the question, do you teach critical race theory? I know the answer is no
but not sure how to explain it. And surely not something any of us want to discuss here. But if you go on a school board, better be
prepared.

I was one of the few white students in my college to minor in black studies. Glad I did, gave me more empathy, more understanding.
Local Quakers were the conductors in the Underground Railroad so there is a lot of history here.

got some good news yesterday on backordered electric stove. Finally built after six months and should be here after Thanksgiving.
I saw a huge pile of new appliances stacked up outside the store so I was hopeful things were starting to loosen up.

hope you are feeling better Buppies.

Yup. My Trac-Vac 880 doesn't empty easy either. My young neighbor just reaches in and pulls it out with his arms. Easy for someone under 40. I use a 3 prong rake to pull it out. I think I have a good plan. Since it fit his Kubota 60" deck without modifications. I let him use it. When he is done with his yard. He does mine. I do about 3 loads a year at my place. Not worth it's cost new. Over $3K today. But I bought it used for $400 18 years ago.

So they’re teaching critical race theory using other terms to hide it.

48 outside this AM. Heading to mid 70's. Then a cold front moves through possibly some rain. Too bad, tonight (actually early tomorrow) is supposed to be a lunar eclipse.

I managed to clean up the last of the debris and move it down to the burn pile area. I just don't think I am up for another attachment for the tractor. So I will make due. The shop called yesterday, seems my log splitter tank and carb are toast. Says they cannot find parts. Yeah, it's like 25 years old. LOL. I may rent one for a week and then think about what to do about future wood splitting some other time. Most of the trees around my place that are burner quality, well they are really huge. So a lot to think about.

Today, with the weather so nice, hey....looks like a day off for me. May go sit by the pool, which is still open. Not that anyone is getting in any time soon, but there is something about blue water and green pastures that make you go.....ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. LOL.

Hope all have a great day. be safe. And if you are ailing, get well soon.

Coffee taste good this morning. 38° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 42° with mostly cloudy skies. Went outside to start yesterday's projects. But everything was wet from a mist that stayed all day. .2" of rain. Instead started a project to carry my pole saw, trimmer and other long pole tools on Mule. Made a pot of Spaghetti. Took a nap. While it will be cooler today. I should be able to get yesterday's chores done.

You’re a calmer presence than I would be, and the local school board could attest to that thirty years ago. LOL

Toppop, CRT has been around for 30 years, which was a wake up call for me.
Kids at my school are too young for this, I was in a training session for K-12 and we are K-8.
So lot of heavy discussion delayed until later grades.
Honestly it was like my being on the board of local Planned Parenthood for many years. Very happy I
ended term on that board just before discussions of doing abortions came in.

Times change. Basic values, if they are good ones..., shouldn't. Would be nice to keep the best of what we have and
to feel positive about change.

In NC I bought the largest DR trac vac since it had a bigger motor, 12hp I think. Other than being super noisy, it sucked up anything and everything.
But unloading it was really hard for one person. I like the simpler two bags of what I have now, less heavy to deal with when full.
