When I got home, FedEx had left me an Eley hose reel to assemble.
Went together easily, appears to be well made. My only complaint is that the brake adds some drag even when released. I was also surprised that it doesn’t appear to be made in USA. The first hint was the metric hardware. It was stainless steel, and of good quality, but metric. Then going back to their website, there is no claim or statement as to the country of origin. However, it is of the quality that they advertised.
You are correct it is made in China according to their website. They do try to water it down though . . .
From the Eley hose reel web site:
"Our mission is to design, manufacture, and deliver the highest-quality outdoor watering products in the world and back them up with the industry-leading warranties and the highest-quality customer support available. To that end, we have taken a global approach to resource the services needed to meet this goal.
  • Product Design, Engineering, and Testing (In-house USA)
  • Production & Packaging - Garden Hose (In-house USA), Reno, NV
  • Production & Packaging - Reels, Watering Tools & Accessories (China)
  • Warehousing & Order Processing (In-house USA) Reno, NV & Nashville, TN
  • Sales & Marketing (In-house USA and numerous USA vendors)
  • Shipping & Delivery (FedEx, USPS)
  • Customer Support (In-house USA)
As you can see, although some fabrication operations take place overseas, your purchase of ELEY products supports the American economy (and families) across a wide range of industries."

If I can't get made in Canada products, then my next choice is made in U.S. of A.
Keep North Americans working, buy North American.

Good evening from Mesa, Az. Behind on reading GM, will have to get caught up.
Most of the plans in place for Wed and people start arriving tomorrow. BIL was so active in his community they are expecting in excess of 100 for his Celebration of Life.
One thing I have learned so far is how insanely expensive it can be to die. Already told Sophie if she spends anywhere near that on me, I’ll haunt her forever. Cremate, scatter my ashes in the pet cemetery (amongst those that loved me), and have a pot luck gathering.
Yes, celebration of Life. My aunt and uncle were married for over 78 years. She passed about 6-8 months before him. They already had a headstone made for the 2 of them in the cemetery of their hometown. City wanted a fee to bury his ashes on his plot......(they were casually sprinkled about both plots).

75F here at 6:46 pm, nice and calm.

I baled my first round bale of hay myself, and it came out great! Friend brought over his Vermeer 504 super I and "coached me up". I baled about 9-10 bales, and have a few more acres to go. If the ground was drier, I could cut another few acres. Haying is nice when it's only 72F outside and a nice cool breeze blowing.

I plan on helping my friend with repairs on his equipment.

11yo 6th grade son (with blonde slightly curly mullet) went to join the middle school chess club....8th grade math teacher is chess coach and told him "you do know you need to know how to play chess to join don't you?" ....son told him he can play and brought home a chess test. Filled it out and took it back today. He scored the highest, and proceeded to be the only kid who got 2 checkmates in the groups' first matches. He said the first game he did it in 4 moves. He says the mullet must "pysche out" the other kids, thinking they have a 20 point IQ advantage. LOL.

Popgadget, those Ole Miss fans would have been quite boisterous, after handing my Aggies a big loss. It sucks to not have a quality backup QB. Our QB has a brace on his knee, and on his shoulder....threw 2 critical interceptions. But kudos to Ole Miss, their Offense and Defense showed up. There goes our season, but help is on the way. Our original 1st string QB (who got hurt against Colorado), is out for the season, but I'm hearing when he was healthy, he was the only one who could give our track star Achane, a run for his money. We have a great recruit in the shadows coming soon they say too.

Rich, Bultaco ultrasonic soup sounds good for this cool weather. :)

Eric, watch out for those mind benders.

Prayers for Buppies, David, Randy, and all in silent need...and our country.

Need hot coffee this morning. 24° a few clouds this morning. Heading to 42° with mostly sunny skies. Did not sleep well last night. Will have to take a nap later today. Need to clean leaves out of flower gardens. Then mulch/windrow with mower. Neighbor will come over with my Trac-Vac and vacuum them up this evening.
Still some fall colors in the woods.

good morning friends
sunny chilly day today, headed out shortly to take truck to detailer another town over. It was never properly cleaned before I bought it and I want
the last of the old dog smell taken out. I'm having them leave the quarter panel alone I just had rust repaired, more concerned with interior scrubbing.
One friend will pick me up and I think we are going out to breakfast together. Then my ex wife will take me back this afternoon. That's always good for a nice chat.
Talking to ex wives...the books we could write. Why I'm so envious of some of you with such long marriages.
In fact many of you have been married a very long time.
Why? Must be the appeal of a tractor driving man! 🚜 🚜 🚜

I greatly enjoyed my retail electronics business for the five years I ran it
in my home town.
Now I wonder how a 2000 sf shop would do with all US/NA made products.
NC furniture. Shoppers always like to sit down... Shore and mountain art work.
Hand made fishing rods and tackle.
Anything of quality made in USA would qualify.
But it would have to be something special.

I personally would love to browse around a store like that. I know Buppies would.

our challenge is most of the world is building stuff at a labor rate of say 15 bucks an hour, or less, and
our artisans want 35. Which they need btw to pay their local taxes...

chasing the low end, lowest priced market is something I wouldn't have to do here.
It's an interesting idea. Does anyone have a made in US shop anywhere near them?

My Audi was built in Mexico. So are a lot of other things in modern robotic factories.
Maybe we should include Mexico. So much of the S/W US has a Hispanic influence anyway.
I have always thought Canadian quality to be very high. Just think of all those Crown Vics they built in Ontario.

Cowboy hats from Texas. No guns, sorry...
Indian blankets, the real ones.
Relatively expensive stuff, but if it lasts a long time, you get both satisfaction and value.
