Good morning, a nice dry day ahead after the third frosty night in a row. Yesterday I took my time clearing out some hedgerow and burning off piles of blackthorn brash. The only voting I did was for an early finish when my dairy farm neighbour came along up wind with his muck spreader.

It’s 27 with a high of 48 forecast for today.
Clear skies, another nice day once it warms up a bit.

Yesterday was a nice day, had a meeting in the morning with a prospective property manager for the airports, then did some cleanup and chores. We did accomplish trip to Groton to pick up friends plane, but never made it to the Submarine museum because we went too late in the afternoon. That is a trip that I definitely would like to make another time though. It was a good excuse to fly the new plane, as it’s still not deeply patterned into my memory. They are very much like tractors in that they all have the same controls and functions, but different placement and implementation.

Today is another day of doing whatever pops up, but will start with a toasted bagel and a walk over to the shop. After that, anything is possible.

Before I sold the old tractor, Paul, I was having trouble operating it as some of the controls were in different locations. Very much like having brake and shifter swap sides on '70s era Japanese and English motorcycles. With everything that's going on in a cockpit, it must be quite a job staying oriented so as to always push the right button...

That mouse, or is it a rat, looks like its trying to do a chin up, Ron. Will Sassy dispatch them if she can catch them?

Thanks for the tip on Eley hose reels, Don. I reely like the perpendicular wall mount version, but putting one at each corner of the house could get expen$ive...

Found the SOS (Salt, Oil, Sugar) free cook books yesterday, and will be trying some more recipes from them.

Got some paperwork cleared up yesterday morning, then tackled a job I've been putting off most of a year. The tank bag I use on the motorcycles holds an electronics package so I can easily move it from bike to bike, but the old bag was literally falling apart and needed replaced. Moving the rat's nest of power and signal leads involved slicing a few holes in the new bag, as well as changing out the buckles by sewing on new ones with an old fashioned Speedy Stitch. Sure glad my needle work doesn't show! Still a little more to do this morning, then off to town for a grocery run.

It is just about time to drop the hoe and pick up the back blade.

Good morning to all! Low of 26..... brrrrrr.... going up to 62. No precip forecasted for us, but there is snow up on the mountain tops. Wedid get a couple of heavy frost mornings.

I was able to get my gravel fix taken care of yesterday..... had just enough to spread a nice pad in front of the shed area. The son started moving all of his stuff into the shed, clearing up space from our garage. I will be able to get the BH back under cover.... yea!

Next on the agenda is to finish the split rail fence along the drive / parking area. Then MORE GRAVEL! WOOHOO!. I hope to get the fence done over the next week, so it will be a little bit before the next gravel fix.

You guys have been busy....hope all goes well with all the projects being done. Great pics being posted! ---- keep'em coming!

Attic work, garden work, and then to the gym to do knee exercises are on the agenda for today. I need to time it so I'm gone during the ladies Hand&Foot games which is being hosted here today by my wife. Card tables, card shufflers, and snack platter are out. The drink on this cold day is warm spiced apple cider.

34F and "Fair" @ 10:00, headed up to a high of 49F for the day. Still some frost on the ground, low hit 27.1F this morning. Calling for a mix of clouds and sun this morning and then clouding up this afternoon.

Lots of birds and squirrels out around the feeders this morning.

Abandoned cat dropped off at vet's for tune up, should be able to pick him up by 16:00 if not before.

Eden order of 4 peony roots arrived to the local USPS distribution facility late last night, currently out on truck for delivery ... which would be two days early ...

Today's agenda will include getting the furnace filter reinstalled ...

Some prep in the basement to contain the abandoned cat for a couple of days. Need to separate from the other cat that is already down there.

Relocate various feeders further away from house and planting beds.

Finish taking down electric fence around garden area.

Possibly get some more plants in the ground.

Would love to … simply because he’s so friendly and good natured.

He’d probably make a good companion/playmate for The Squeak, similar age and size.

And she’s utterly fascinated with his smell, wouldn’t leave the shirt I had on when I picked him up yesterday alone … was all over me last night sniffing it.

But the likelihood is he’ll get put up for adoption, to be shortly followed by the downstairs cat.

That will leave us with three, two of which are older (> 15 years) and are starting starting to have some health issues of their own.

At the point we really want another one, I doubt there will be a shortage …

28°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 54°. One of the voices on the radio suggested we may hit 70° or better by Sunday and Monday. I'll be OK with that.

Speaking of sewing, RNG, my Wife bought a new machine yesterday. It's a Brother NQ3500D sewing and embroidery combo. It's a bit more technologically advanced than your Speedy Stitch, but not quite as portable. At the price this thing sells for, I was more than a little disappointed in how it's built. Seems like everything is made of the flimsiest plastic possible these days. It is, however, the absolute quietest machine I've ever heard. Running slow, it makes almost no noise at all. Even at full speed, we could still hear the TV downstairs. She's pleased, because she no longer needs two different machines and a laptop computer. I'm happy because she spent a whole lot less than the other two brands she was considering

We've been having some issues with our old Liftmaster garage door opener. It sometimes just won't open unless I hit the remote button two or three times. Monday morning, I couldn't get it to close at all, and neither could The Wife, except by using the button on the wall inside. I'd also noticed that the LED under the button was flashing. Wife called the door repair guy, and he couldn't get to us until today. Turned out, someone (we're reasonably certain it was the boy's girlfriend on Sunday) had accidentally pushed the "Lock" button, which prevents the remotes from working, and ... that status is indicated by the flashing LED. So, that's embarrassing. She had him do the preventive maintenance while he was there, so at least it wasn't a completely wasted trip.
