Morning all, 43 and should be sunny soon.
Put mounting holder on panel and general work around the house.
Too windy, some more branches came down where I need to fell another tree, new Line should be here today to get that done, once I finish pick up sticks.

Rip, Buppies, Thomas - hope you feel better soon
Paul-good luck on the check ride, no barrel rolls or zero g pulls.

Stay safe and be well,

Prayers you folks get over "the crud", and your aches and pains.

Don, I'm guessing your knee is pretty bad if you are considering replacing it. Hope for the best.

Don, take heart. In the future, according to all my scifi novels, space travelers will all be eating synthesized food made out of plant protein. Meat will be hugely expensive
or even not available. I'd assume they start with a base of soy beans. Then what...I wonder if the space station has an herb garden...

headed outside after layering up, bright blue sky but thermometer has a 4 in it and I try to wait until it hits 5...
need to cut up large cardboard shipping box containing the garden shed.
Hooray, today is finally garden shed build date. My helper and his buddy are coming over this afternoon to do it.
Whatever minimal tools it needs I'm sure I have.
My helper doesn't like to read directions...we've undid a few things. So this time I'm going to quietly suggest one of them
briefly review the directions and lay the parts out on the big open lawn there.
Since I intend to do as little as possible, except take pictures, hopefully more to show on that later.

for now, it's chop all this stuff up for recycling and wait for call saying my truck is done.
I bet it's going to smell after undercarriage soaked in Boeshield. I used to use that on my boats down in the bilge. Great stuff, waxy, hopefully will help
working its way into rubber bushings. If the sheepskin seat cover I have on order turns out nicely, I will get another one for passenger side and the original front seats will be
history. Sheepskin, real or synthetic, is great stuff. Why pilots often have it under them I believe, reduces pressure points.
With that, and a good interior scrub by detailer, am hopeful there will be no more mustiness in here.

hope you all have a great day.

Good morning, low 37° and high to 64. Wind WNW 6 mph. Sunny! We got frost last night.

A dump run and more wood to go into the basement today. This should be the last of the wood.

The grease zerk kit came in yesterday and I replaced the broken one immediately. I have a couple of other ones I am going to replace mainly for convenience.

I called the garage yesterday about swapping my summer tires for the snows. Weekdays they are booked solid until Nov. 8, so I made the appointment for Sat. 30 October, 8 A.M.
The Dodge doesn't get its' annual service (lube, oil and filter) until next spring when they take the snow tires off.
I only put about 5,000 miles on it in a year. so far this year; 3,000 miles.
We don't have to do an annual safety on passenger vehicles up here (Ontario), just bigger vehicles. Like if you had a Ford F 350, it would need an annual and on up in size.

Other than the dump run and wood, I will get some fresher gas for the genny, I've got nothing on my plate for today. The gas that is in the remaining 5 gallon can will go into the Jeep. It is all high test, so I'm not too worried about putting it into the Jeep or the Dodge.
I checked on gasbuddy.com yesterday and I will be paying $1.769 for the premium gas. O U C H !! To make the 5ers easier to handle I only put $20.oo worth in them, so now I will be putting $23.oo in them for the same amount of fuel.

For you guys that are feeling a little 'under the weather', it would be best if you kept it down south.😇

Have a safe day all

38 and frost on the roof this morning, 70 later I’m told.
Doctor visit went ok, I found out I’m an old man with multiple health problems, so nothing really changed.

Kyle, I didn’t buy a kit, I bought a new carburetor. That of course is no guarantee that it’s the right size or that it’s good.

Gotta make a drugstore run, probably work on the cart, other than that I don’t have a lot on the docket today.

Good Morning!!!! 46F @ 6:30AM. Clouds and some sun this morning with more clouds for this afternoon. High 67F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.
Rain starts again tonight, and there's rain in the 10-day for the rest of the period. The total accumulation is up over 6", too. Not exactly Hawaiian totals, but maybe enough to end the fire season.

Always enough time to redo someone else's work, Rich, but never enough time for them to do it right to begin with, huh?

The number of Covid cases are starting to finally come down here, too, Don. This time around, though, it was the 65+ people with the most cases. And as usual, the most deaths, too. I got through last winder without so much as a cold, and I'm going to keep my mask on, use my hand sanitizer, and keep away from people this winter, too. Vaccine booster or not. I'll get a flu shot this week, too, if the line isn't too long at Costco. Waiting gets expensive there.

Puttered the morning away yesterday, but made it out into the garage a bit before lunch. Flushed out the gas tank with hot water, then tried setting it on the frame to dry. Had to cut down a new bracket to get it to fit, same problem as on the red bike except I was able to catch it before it wore another hole. Started rebuilding petcocks on the white bike, and like usual, got the first one apart but couldn't overcome the spring to get it back together. Just didn't have the strength in my fingers anymore. Started making a tool to help, stopped for lunch, and got it done afterwards. Took longer than I'd have liked to cut'n'try to get something to work, but now that it's done, the second one only took a few minutes. I even made a label for it so I'll be able to find it next time. 😄

Had trouble sleeping last night, so I started Robby Kreiger's new book about his time with the Doors. I'm also reading a recent compilation that came out of Jim Morrison's work. Kreiger's book is like listening to someone tell stories about their past. Some interesting, some not, some just leave you shaking your head in disbelief. Morrison's work is very disjointed, much of it not making any kind of sense at all. He worked by just writing down everything that came into his mind, then sifting through it later for song lyrics or finished poems. And the book reproduces all of it, leaving the process for the reader to experience for themselves. Kreiger makes it clear that most of their songs really were collaborative efforts, not only with their fellow band mates, but with their managers and recording engineers, too. And without Morrison's contributions, they never got back to where they were before his death.

Today would be a good day to clean the ashes out of the camp fire pit, and compact the gravel I put down. Then more on the white bike.

45°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 73° today. We may get up near 80° tomorrow, then back down in the 60s for highs.

We still haven't washed and stored the kayaks yet ... still holding out hope for one more paddle weekend.

Drew, those open grate bridge decks are indeed a squirmy ride. There is one across the Chain Of Rocks Canal on old Route 66, and it was never my favorite part of riding out there.

Speaking of the canal, they still haven't figured out how to get that sailboat out of the Chain Of Rocks on the Mississippi River. I suspect that's going to be a financially painful lesson for that guy.

I just found out that a friend I’ve known since he was about 12, died last night, suddenly. He was only around 57 or so.
A definite one if a kind, stories I could tell. Great guy, I’ll miss him.

Had a chance to ride over the Mackinac Bridge on an '03 cross country trip. The center two lanes are open grid, and I was happy the slow lane was concrete. The view from something like 200' above the water was worth slowing down for.

Even worse when the grate is wet...slick

66F and sunny @ 12:00, heading up to 73F for the day. Going to be nice tomorrow too ... but then a front comes through with some rain and dropping the high temps down into the 50's for a couple of days ... but then back up in the 60's for highs.

Looks like it is time to reassess what can be completed in the remainder of the season before truly bad weather gets here and what really needs to be done vs. what would be nice to get done. Some items will be dropping off the list until next year.

Getting the plants and bulbs that we already have in the ground will be a high priority over the next week or two. Digging anything up and transplanting it will likely wait until next year ... unless we are somehow blessed with unusually good weather for the next month.

To that end, I did work on a planting layout for the new planting bed on the east side of the frog pond and with a few tweaks, I'm pretty happy with how it is turning out.

First thing on the agenda today will be to finish up trimming back the locally-sourced irises.

Then work on getting some other stuff planted.

And there's a few buckets of compost that needs re-screened for the final time.

Beyond that take it as comes.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

I am not a great fan of open grid bridges, but that being said I am definately NOT a fan of bailey bridges either. There are quite a few of them in Northwestern Ontario that I have to cross with the train, grossing 140,000 lbs.

67°F and .06 inches rain

Sophie got a new prescription, her eye isn’t fully healed, so temporary.

Have to rip 5 planks to finish the perimeter row install. Could have done late afternoon, but decided it would be better if less tired. So 1st thing after coffee

Looking very promising for a flail day. Hard to believe it has been 6 weeks. Until I look to see how thick and tall.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

This morning, I just filled up my 2017 Ford Escape with the most expensive gasoline to ever be put in it. Yep, same old regular as always, but today was $2.999 at Buc-ee's. I haven't checked prices elsewhere, but Buc-ee's has always been the cheapest in the area. I'm guessing that they just jumped up above everyone else today for a change.

Toppop sorry about the loss of your friend

Thomas hope you get better soon. At the moment I can breathe through both nostrils first time in a while

Had to look up Bailey bridges, Bill. When the west entrance road to Yosemite National Park (Highway 140) flooded in 1997, they put in a single lane Baily bridge. What a mess traffic wise, and last time I checked, it's still there.
