Eric, the ”Covid rules” are the problem. As long as everyone is masked and the facility is cleaned properly its hard to see any sense in not allowing you to attend to your dog for the shot.

I would probably be going to a different vet but you may not have an option.

Good Morning!!!! 78F @ 5:15AM. Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 98F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.
TV weatherman last night predicted rain for next Tuesday, and sure enough WU is calling for it, too. A whole 0.06". Hardly enough to even settle the dust.

Even more new CV19 cases in the local hospital yesterday, to the point that they're having to repurpose other wards to handle them all.

At least you won't have to search high and low for your hammer next time you need to fix the fence, Eric. Hope you remember where you last saw it should you need it for something else, though.

I replaced the windows in the last house, Doug. It was more than a dozen, and I paid for installation on the first few, the largest ones. Watched what they did, and learned they weren't following the manufacturers directions. Did the rest myself, and FWIW, it wasn't that hard.

Good progress, David. Would never guess it was a shipping container just looking at it.

I think I would shop elsewhere for my meat, Kyle.

Would it do any good to lock the shed door to keep Boo out of there, Thomas? I'd sure hate to find him in there by surprise.

Been looking into a 4-in-1 bucket for the Kubota; I miss the one I had on the old one. Didn't think I would having a grapple, but there's some dirt work that's a lot easier with one. I like the Everything Attachments stuff, but they don't make one. Other brands they sell have long lead times, too. But they had a video of one that looked like it would fit and hold up on the big tractor, but when I called, Travis said it could be six months before it would come in. So I gave the company that makes 'em a call, and got the name of a chain in California that carries 'em. Called the closest one, two hours away, and they had one sitting on the lot. Evidently it had been there a while because their price was 20% off MSRP. Went down there after lunch and picked it up, and am looking forward to trying it out today. It even had the same flat faced couplers that are already on the tractor. Probably should have bought a lottery ticket while I was out!

Contractor neighbor came by later to share a beer, and I finally got him to name a price for cutting the water tank terrace. So I got that paid off yesterday, too. Kind of an expensive day, but it's good to have that behind me.

FedEx tracking said they'd be delivering the repaired laptop yesterday, but they were a no-show. Now they have no delivery date. So much for being "the fastest ship in the shipping business". Maybe the most confusing though.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

We took Max to the vets yesterday for his annual jab. He has never been keen on needles, usually I just have to hold his head firm then it is all over in a few seconds. Covid rules meant I could not do that this time, the young lady took him away on his lead. He went quietly enough but then was gone far longer than usual. Eventually he was back out looking ruffled yet quite pleased with himself because no one could get near enough to stab him. He thinks he has won, what he doesn't know is that we go back next week and that nice lady has organised a chillout pill to go with his breakfast that day.

Anyone else have problems with pets that don't like being messed with ?
Whipper is leery, but cooperative and needs no chillout pill.

Texas is on the decline of new covid cases and El Paso now has herd immunity.

Temp got down to 46˚F, but with full sun it is slowly rising.

BEF - your SIL and my SIL should meet - wrestling federation would have a real match. Mine is prone to theatrics and insults at family gatherings. My wife is still talking about the last time she was here...

I see a cage match in the future

46°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 73° today. Looks like we'll be down in the mid-40s for the next couple of nights. Back up to 90° on Monday, so it won't last.

Ribeye has always been my favorite cut, Kyle, but there's no way I'd pay that much for it.

Congrats on the new 4-in-1, RNG.

That's a young one, used to have 4-5 outside on our crab apple trees this time of year when we had the house in western Mass.
Fun watching them try to climb up to shake the branches.

Happy First Day of Autumn !

53F, moist, breezy, and cloudy @ 12:00 with wind gusts up to 24 mph. Sun was trying to peek through earlier ... for about a minute. Only calling for a high of 55F so this is probably as good it as it gets.

Only 0.06" of precipitation since midnight, 1.30" for the previous 24-hour period. A good watering.

With the winds and no sun I think I might well forego doing any coring today, unless something changes.

Might be just as well, as I still have inside work to catch up on.

The plan to finish up in the fish room last night went by the wayside when I noticed two S. fryeri females were holding eggs in their mouths. That necessitated a full clean out of the tank I have the egg tumbler in, which took a while.

After I got that done I netted all three females to check them just to be sure. Yup - two of them holding, got probably around 40 - 50 eggs total between the two of them and put those in the tumbler. Also stuck the smallest male and female in that tank as they were looking pretty beat up, give them a chance to recover.

So probably see if I can't get things finished up in the fish room today, draw water for partial water changes.

Also try and finish up paperwork organizing/filing.

Do some cleaning in the kitchen and laundry as well.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

68°F and .18 inches rain.

Back in caretaker unit. Building and wall:/sliding door for privacy between living room and bedroom areas. 2 doors will be stationary like a wall and 2 will slide. Think I have it worked out. Now to execute.

H&F this afternoon. I’m sure the gals will be gunning for us.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

that's what I'm worried about here Buckeye.
Only 1.41 inches so far here and the back yard is already starting to fill up.
Those butterfly bushes are doomed.
I need to plant some willow trees there instead.
