Great day with my project.
Really like how the bathroom doors are coming out

Left side, durock, will be tiled as it is next to range.
Right side something of a question mark, but likely see how it looks painted. Refrigerator will cover most anyway.

I want to replace some windows in the house (alloy) as my wife wanted to paint the frames bronze colour. I told her it wasn't worth the hassle and cost. Time alone would be painful.
I got a quote for 3 windows and screens . It came to $900 + $90 tax for the three of them so I'm happy with that. It is a simple job to replace them. Might just get 3 more done as one is cracked and another broken and it costs silly money for new glass.
The cracked and broken ones were caused by guinea fowl flying into them.

good morning all
a warm 72 this morning going up to high 70's in heavy rain, starting around 11am
This system seems to be moving slowly and dropping a lot of rain.

since I totally struck out yesterday finding a stove, only left with mail order to try again. Have called four local appliance stores and none of them
have anything in stock. And I read this morning the container ships are stacking up off the ports of California. Doesn't look like we are headed in the right direction.

Had my first local apple last night for dessert, boy was it sweet and juicy. Headed over to orchard this morning to get some more as house present for friend.

Otherwise as the rains come down for the next day, hope to have a quiet indoor day.

David, sure is amazing what you can do with an old steel can!

Drinking first cup of coffee. 50° with rain this morning. Heading to 52° with more rain. Another 1.8" rain fell since yesterday. 3.9" total since Monday evening. Lots of power outages again from storms. Stayed in house all day. Not sure I will get much done today again.

David, door look food.

Alien, that's a lot of tax on $900.

Drew, sorry to hear no instock stove found.

Buppies, 7.49 of rain. Way too much for my area.

Kyle, looks like I will be eating a lot of beans at those prices for beef.

Everyone stay healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

Ron, only time I buy some meats is when the half price yellow sticker is put on it. Local Giant has relatively fast pull dates so
meat is always good despite it being on clearance. I usually shop early in the morning and my eyes always look for the yellow tags.
Anything over 6 dollars a pound starts to lose my interest. Yesterday ground turkey was 1.99; good deal. And I see the frozen 1.99
boneless chicken breasts were out for some promotion.

not many sales on vegan alternatives. Most of that stuff is in the 8-10 dollar a pound range which for plants seems a bit pricey.

I remarked years ago that the price on that chicken has stayed at 1.99 for a long time. Wonder how the chicken farmers do it.

time for a shower but no shave. Started my winter beard. I don't like the feeling of face hair on my lips so I keep the mouth area trimmed
pretty closely. But I sure like being warmer, my face fleece.

63 and raining going to 70. Thunder was shaking the house so much this morning I just got up early and made coffee...I don't know if there is such a name applied to it, but I'd name it Explosive Thunder...sounded like bombs dropping all around. I'll check the rain gauge after light, but got a lot...certainly not Buppies' heavy amount.

Eric, I've seen a lot of ponds like that...some folks around here have started businesses addressing the problem...in urban areas they use herding dogs to move them off...in rural areas it sometimes involves 12 gauges. I've eaten a lot of goose crockpot pulled BBQ and it is very good.

Don, we have a problem...on the local news last night they ran a recent nutrition/health study report...they concluded whole milk fat was heart-healthy...including cheese and ice cream. I didn't catch who did the study (or who paid for it).

Roy, I know you're further east, but I think it's still Thursday. :ROFLMAO:

Good morning! Looks like I have the coolest temp, so far. 48˚F. It will not last long as soon as the sun comes up we will be in the 80s by noon, bright cloudless skies.

Drew I have not priced the vegan alternatives. Are you talking about the vegan fake meats? We don't buy those we make our own.

Wngsprd, I'll keep a look out for that study. If it's not done by the dairy assoc. it's a study that milk fat is better than some really bad other fat. I call them "better than studies". The news media then assumes it's healthy - wrong. It's a pick your poison study.

77 and humidity you can cut with a knife. Rain moving in later, gusty winds.

Got the corn across the road picked on Tuesday, mowed and disced the stalks yesterday, that field is only about 80 acres between two creeks, nice and high so it drains well and never needs irrigation, best of both. Just up the road they irrigate all summer.
I got my grass mowed yesterday, cleaning ladies, washing machine repair man is supposed to come replace the inlet valve and someone is coming to estimate new flooring in the kitchen, dining room, hall, both foyers and the bathrooms. Sounds like an expensive day around here.

You can’t get anything done seems like, I still have not gotten my replacement retractable awning put up over the bigger deck. I’ve had the new one since early July, lying in my garage in a big tube since. First scheduled for early August but repeatedly put off. Since the brackets are there it just requires removing four bolts, slide it out, and unplug it, then reverse. Two young strong men could literally do in 20 minutes, only took an hour to install the original and they had to measure, level and install brackets. One place said they could fit me in about October 1, and it would only cost $700! Summer is over so I guess I can take my time.

Mostly, Kyle, we have the runway and it’s being extended more now, but when you’re used to seeing those 80 passenger Embraer jets, that thing looked like it carry a pair of them under its wings. LOL

Toppop, I'd come help you but it would be the blind leading the blind. You sure don't want to bend the new one.
Strong grandsons are very helpful but where did they go?...

headed downtown to bank, then to apple orchard, and home. Friend visiting for lunch.
I'm making a mushroom pizza and sending her home with green tomatoes and some apples.
Then get in comfy chair and read my book while rain comes down.

Last year I made birdhouses and feeders for Christmas presents. Need to think up something different for this year,
small enough to ship and not too heavy.

Over 3” of rain since midnight, 3.8” counting yesterday

Electric has flashed off 3 times, each time a loud popping noise back of the house. Something is shorting, but it hasn’t blown the fuse yet.

Not sure about trying to drive, flash flood warnings say stay home.

SIL called my wife last night in a panic attack, more drama.

Now to catch up on everyone else.

Morning all, light rain-calling for >1" later
Got little done yesterday, mostly some bush trimming and general cleanup.

C-17 coming in when near the airfield looks like a used car lot with all the wheels above head. Could always tell when these were coming into the base by the sound.

Alien- I have grackles and cardinals flying into my windows all the time-they knock themselves silly, but windows never seem to get damaged-must be big birds you got there!

Sodamo-Bathroom looks nice, Doors look good too.

Drew-still looking for a refridgerator-none our size in stock for last 1.5 years or so.....No dock workers in CA to offload ships-home collecting payouts
We sometimes stop by Ely's farm for meats, now that the local supermarkets have raised their beef prices, his don't seem so bad, and you can see where he gets his meat from in front of the store :)

BEF - your SIL and my SIL should meet - wrestling federation would have a real match. Mine is prone to theatrics and insults at family gatherings. My wife is still talking about the last time she was here...

Stay safe and be well.

My dog takes bench pressing too literally:

We took Max to the vets yesterday for his annual jab. He has never been keen on needles, usually I just have to hold his head firm then it is all over in a few seconds. Covid rules meant I could not do that this time, the young lady took him away on his lead. He went quietly enough but then was gone far longer than usual. Eventually he was back out looking ruffled yet quite pleased with himself because no one could get near enough to stab him. He thinks he has won, what he doesn't know is that we go back next week and that nice lady has organised a chillout pill to go with his breakfast that day.

Anyone else have problems with pets that don't like being messed with ?

Rich, why would he have a cow if it gets raced?
Is it a 450 or a Kawi twin?

Twin - 750cc. Woody Kyle Engine.

If it was a 450 Kawa, I would not have even gotten involved. They are, IMO, a marginal platform. They are hard to get them set up right and the engine is difficult to get the best out of it
