Good Morning.
It’s 59 and brilliant sunshine this morning. Going into the low 70’s.

Rain started yesterday around 2 pm, ended around Midnight. Davis says 7.61 inches, Tempest says 11.32. I’m betting that when I walk out and check the old fashioned funnel, it will agree with the Davis if it goes even that high. I haven’t done a walk around yet, but I’m pretty sure that we made it through unscathed. The house basement relies on a sump pump to stay dry, there are two pumps with floats set at different levels to turn the second one on if required, and a sequencer to alternate which one goes on first to keep them both exercised. When I checked before going to bed, both pumps were running, but at least the second one was cycling.

I’m going to get some breakfast and then go out and check things out, hopefully the pond didn’t overflow it’s banks. My son did get water into his office in an outbuilding, but I think that was the only place. I was supposed to go to Boston and then Lewiston, ME this morning, but they canceled the trip, so I had no plans for today.

Sodamo, the higher end Kawi's and Deere share the same 3 cylinder motor, IIRC. I've ridden in a lot of UTVs, but not a late model Kawi. I will say that my FIL's Deere 835M has the best ride I've ever experienced across a lumpy/bumpy field. It actually amazed me and continues to do so with it's ride quality. The engine is rev happy, meaning you have to rev it up to get the centrifugal clutch to bite and go. I would recommend you compare some, and test them in real world conditions. All of them have some sort of door or restraining net now. On the Deere, if you don't connect the seat belts, it will only go 8 mph. (I cheat and latch it behind my back sometimes). These things aren't cheap.

Glad your head's still above water, Drew. That's a LOT of rain! I was wondering if you'd have to rescue stuff out of your basement, and am glad the sump pump did its job without complaint.

Nice work on the tile, David. I like the way the grout lines flow unbroken into the shower. I had a heck of a time cleaning up the haze from grouting the dark tile in the kitchen. Lost track of the number of five gallon buckets full of clean water I went through.

Sorry to hear about the leaks, Chris. Tile is a lot of work, but very low maintenance once installed. And it doesn't care about water...

Are you going to replace the tube yourself, Eric? Not sure I'd try it on a tractor tire; I struggle with that job on motorcycle tires, and I have a tire machine.

Ordered the steel for the grizzly bars yesterday morning, picked it up in the afternoon. It comes in 20' sticks, and I was going to pay them for cutting those down to the finished 5' lengths. But the salesperson said it would be four or five days before they would be able to finish that little job. But he did offer to cut them in half, which would easily fit in the pickup truck, and I could handle the pieces by myself. Got the truck unloaded and the 24 pieces cut before dinner; I was able to stack six pieces for each cut. Took a while to get through, but very little of my time was involved. I sawed the covers out for the tube ends while I was waiting.

My friend in Klamath Falls has been pretty hard hit by the smoke, and isn't thrilled with riding a motorcycle through hours of it to get to the coast. I started looking at routes from here, and between wildfire road closures and construction, it looks like the trip would take the better part of a week instead of two or three days. My way to the coast would be pretty smoky, too, but nothing as bad as the worst I've seen here already. It's still early in the fire season, and neither of us see it getting any better, but maybe in a week or two it'll at least be cooler. We'll see.

spoke with Tinsmans about the lumberyard up river and they were ok, 10.1 inches of rain in Lumberville
but the River was only up over into the canal, not onto River Road yet.
Friend in Doylestown said his pool overflowed and folks were getting stuck in front of his coffee business trying to drive through deep water.
And it's just bright blue sky and beautiful out now.
Time to go pick up the yard.

And instead of bleach in the basement, going to turn on the ozone machine for a few minutes in basement and add my bleach in the airborne version.
I have to get out of the house for about an hour afterwards, don't like the smell and it's pretty irritating stuff. As is bleach...

level from the river next door was over the top of the windows and
gushing in. We got a couple of inches over the entire floor before it

Good morning! 77˚F heading to the upper 90s repeat of yesterday and the next three days.

I got half the lawn mowed before stopping because of the heat yesterday. Okra picked and now I need to bread and bake it. I'll steam it first to get the slimy stuff flowing so the cornmeal mixture will stick to it. (what is the name of the clear okra slime?).

I gave myself a treat last night - turned the A/C down to 72˚ to simulate a cold front - brrrrr.

wow Drew, glad your basement didn’t flood. I thought the rainfall totals in PA would be high. At first I thought it would skirt by us, as we were on the lower edge, but then it shifted more easterly.

Rivers flooding, most small streams at roads now open. Wife had to take cat to vet, didn’t show any roads closed and she didn’t call.

Off to work. Someone’s gotta pay for all the free stuff. Saw you can get over $10k a year just in food stamps. No wonder people won’t work, add in subsidized housing and free tax return money.

Thanks, but my garage did. Opened the door and found all kinds of things moved by rising water, trash can laying against side of car, muck marks in one area show water
at least two inches deep. Enough to float things around. I knew better and everything is on shelves or elevated. All gone now, door open and drying out due to nice breezy day.

I'm always impressed by people who can get great shots of the moon, Ron. Reminds me that I saw an article yesterday that noted the anniversary of the release of the movie A Trip To The Moon, 119 years ago.

Kyle, the local BMW dealer here used to sell Ural side cars. I guess I can see the point of opening up a club to more members, but I also see RNG's point about not messing with a good thing. If it ain't broke, ...

I've met so many musicians over the years that I've lost track. Literally hundreds. A perk of working in the industry, I guess. Sometimes I won't remember until their name comes up that, oh yea, I met that guy.

Morning all, storm knocked us for a loop last night.
Pool is full of mud from the downhill river, didn't account for high winds trying to push the water uphill.
Power out over night.
Cable/internet just finally came back.
Down the hill, abandoned cars being towed-stuck in the flood waters. Why don't people listen??

Will be spending the next few days floc'ing the pool and vacuuming. Some trees fell in the woods, that will wait for now.
Got chainsaw cleaned up and ready just in case yesterday, but generator, so far, was all I needed last night.
Not sure how much rain as plastic gauge broke!

Back when BMW first came out with the K-bikes, they created huge divisions in the BMW motorcycle community as people jumped on what was supposed to be the next greatest thing. Not long after that, the Airheads club formed to give the old timers a place to gather. And every once in a while, some new folks step up to serving on the board, and get concerned about finances and start talking about dues increases and allowing a broader variety of folks as members. Long time members quit, tempers flare, and the budget gets tighter than ever. Then the old timers reclaim the board, put things back the way they started out, and membership numbers recover. Looks like we're starting a new cycle now. People who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Have a good bit of grapple work to do today around the property now that we've gotten that hooked up, cleaning up fallen limbs and trees. Think there might be at least one black locust in that mix, which would be nice.

May move some large boulder here while I have it on.

Then head over to neighbor's to do some grapple clean up work for her.

Amazon just dropped off oil filters for the Cub so probably will knock that out later.

Then possibly mow upper front or down around the house, depending on how they look. GreenCast shows soil temp down to 69F ...

After that there's more ferrying of dirt from the dirt pile down to the creek crossing/pole barn and getting that graded out and compacted.

Will hold off on spraying until tomorrow when winds are lower.

Back when BMW first came out with the K-bikes, ... was supposed to be the next greatest thing.

When I went "window shopping" one day in 1990 at BMW Motorrad in St. Louis, they had a new '90 K100LT and an '89 R100RT that had about 10k miles on it. Salesman - also named Paul - told me the guy who owned it used to ride to Columbia MO to see his kid at Mizzou. He came back in after a year and traded it for a K100LT. So, I took both for a test ride. Not gonna lie; that K100LT was a sweet ride. However, the R100RT blew it away in balance. The lower center of gravity of the boxer engine made a huge difference in how it handled. I picked up the R100RT the next day. Wife dropped me off on the way to work, and I rode it to work. I put 75k miles on that thing over the next two years. Rode the dickens out of it.

Coffee is brewing. 51° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 76° with sunny skies. Yesterday was another great day visiting with my sister. Went threw 2 crates of pictures from my mother. Started scanning the selected pictures. Grocery shopping today. No other plans.

David, tile looks good. I am happy with my Mule. Make sure Sophie will like the added height getting on the Mule. Make sure it has power steering. Some models do not. My SX without power steering steers without problems. I follow a group on facebook. Kawasaki Mule enthusiast. For me roof and windshield are a must. Rear window is needed in my area. Dust flies up. Trailer hitch is nice. I have a 2" square one off Ebay. I have added bed liner and extender. Rear lights and dome light. I have the cargo compartment under seat. Mirrors. Charging ports for phone. Front floor mat. Have fun shopping.

Thanks, Ron. Great report. While I can easily talk myself up to way more capability than I need, maybe I need a kickback to reality and remember I’m upgrading from a golf cart. One of the main benefits of the gc is the nimble size. That may be more comparable to the SX. And if I’m honest with myself I’m not planning any projects requiring a workhorse. But a more tricked out, nimble machine could be it. Didn’t read about power steering for SX on the Kawasaki site, maybe I missed it. My gc is lifted so height is similar. Sophie as already commented I’d want the roof, likely the windshield. Rear window little to no value to me and I would hope train the dogs to ride in the back at times.
Appears to be no SX inventory on island, need to look at Honolulu.

More thinking, more research.
