Good morning. Very pleasant 62 now. Supposed to get to 86 later.

Mowed yesterday, got the walk behind string trimmer out and worked on pushing the edge of the woods back a bit. Was overdue to get some of brush trimmed. Somewhere between starting it and trimming, did something to my shoulder. It is still sore….

We t for Chinese last night for dinner, then went to the local brewery for a couple off beers and listen to music on the patio. Very laid back evening. Then came home to a near full moon.

Not sure what today will bring

Everyone stay safe out there

Roy: A Guy ran a red light and did this to my 13. It was fixed back to perfect.
Hopefully insurance will do the same for you.

67 right now. Looks like storm is downgraded to just heavy rain and wind in the 40's. Sounds good to me.
Hope everyone else in it's path stays healthy and dry!

Good Morning.
It’s 71 and only going up to the upper 70’s with rain all day.

Other than a morning shower, the rain held off all day yesterday, starting after 7pm. That let me get the manure spread, I had help loading the spreader.
IMG_7133.jpg

After that, I went across the street to the neighbors and moved his stone for him. Worked out well, the stone cleaned out all the caked on manure from the loader bucket.
Local grocery had a sale on steak, buy one, get two free. By the time I got there, there were only packs of 5 strips left, so I came home with 15 steaks. Had a nice steak dinner, fed the neighbors, Son,DIL and my favorite helper, and still have some steaks to cook for another meal. Hard to beat steak with fresh corn on the cob and tomatoes.
Even managed to get a little bit done in the shop.

Today the rain will make it an inside day for me. My son and a neighbor rented a self propelled stump grinder on tracks, the neighbor used it yesterday, so gets today. He borrowed some rain gear after dinner last night. I suppose my curiosity will get the better of me, and I’ll venture out to see it in operation, but not for long.

Got all the chores done, except the haircut...The sumac...well, wasn't a branch down...it was the whole tree. Trunk was 5-6 inches in diameter and the 4052/chipper nicely cleaned that up

Boy! Did I screw up this morning!
I pulled in to the local gas station I regularly go...this is on the way to the dump.
As I'm pulling up to the pumps, a huge RV towing a car pulls in front of me...there was plenty of room between us, so it wasn't like he cut me off. Anyway, he pulls most way passed the pumps, but the towed car blocked access to one pump and that's where the guy stops...blocking use of both pumps. No big deal, I think...I'll stop on the way back from the dump. There wasn't a lot of room between the RV and a flag pole...and when giving wide berth to the RV, I misjudged the flag pole. Left front of the Tacoma is pretty tore up...definitely a new fender and lower bumper guard going to be required. The driver's side door will partially open, so something was pushed back. Also, the hood will open which is good since I needed washer fluid and a right side high beam. Both were accomplished
Wasn't going fast...maybe 10 mph.
I feel like an damn fool...I know this one is going to be several thousand bucks to fix.
Ruined my day, but still did the home side chores
Sorry about your mis-hap.
Roy, my friend got over kidney cancer when they had to yank one of his 2 years ago. He's the one who I just rode with to get a used toy hauler RV. He called me yesterday with a list of bad stuff that just happened. The mini blinds had fallen off due to the rough ride. The spare tire had fallen off somewhere on the 470 mile ride home. He had fired up the gasoline generator to run the A/C units, and some wire nut junctions had decided to get hot, melt, and smoke up the genset locker. His dog's cancer has come back = another $1200. He started cutting 7 acres of hay and his Kuhn cutter got a locked up due to a bearing going bad, and smoked 4 new v-belts $250 for the belts alone....

No news yet on my good friend (being on respirator in hospital). I have been praying for him hard.

Good morning.

Just back from church.

Will be a lazy day today. Temps are rising again and will peak mid week at 95F.

I’m ready for Fall.

Only thing on agenda is lunch with the family. My youngest wants to try a new Mexican place recently opened nearby.

Have a great Sunday.

Boy!! Your buddy has had a rough go of it!! That does put things in perspective, doesn't it?
The accident was a bummer and, if I'd been more careful, it wouldn't have happened
But, it is just a truck, and it is repairable...

TwoBit,
I'm interested in your trip to Austin. Am readying a scifi novel on Kindle that is partially set in Austin.
They keep referring to the eccentric folks there, touting tshirts saying Keep Austin Weird.
Is this just some fictional invention or is Austin a little different? Drew
Austin has become a mecca of alternative lifestyles. It used to be a great place, and that was what was so attractive to move there. There was for decades, a crowd that had long hair and liked country/rock like Commander Cody and his lost planet Airmen, Asleep at the Wheel, Willie Nelson. Days from an old music hall called the Armadillo World Headquarters. Just look at old episodes of Austin City Limits, and compare them to the crap (IMO) they put on there now...

Then a bar district party street happened on 6th street it was safe and heavily patrolled, then 4th st happened for gay people. They have kept Austin Weird. If you don't look weird, you don't fit in. Go back and look at the crowd who crammed the state senate chambers, when Texas was going to vote for anti-abortion legislation. Now they have voted in a county attorney who has sworn to go after cops. He has let 2 thugs go, who were in a car that shot up 6th street.. The city council has defunded police. Crime numbers are up substantially. Traffic is as horrible as anywhere I've ever been.

I lived there for 10 years from 1994-2004. Glad I got out. I do my best to avoid going, even though I have a lot of friends there. I miss Lake Travis the most.

I just finished a GREAT book, but quite old. Thunder Below by Eugene Fluckey, about his command and adventures in the USS Barb submarine in WW2. The man was incredibly intelligent, and had a way with words I'd compare to Winston Churchill. For a brief moment, he was talking with Roosevelt, Nimitz, and MacArthur in the same car. (can you just imagine?) A great read!

Good morning to all! Low of 60, going for a high of 82. The forecasted highs have been on the low side.... seems we have been 5-6° higher than forecasted.

Roy, sorry to hear about the mishap with the truck. Hope it isn't too costly...

Drew, try to stay dry while going to meeting. Watch for overflow of rain...

Kyle, glad that your trip with your friend was successful.... even though there were some hidden surprises with the RV.

Phil, glad the storm is decreasing in intensity.... hope it stays that way and you guys up in the NE just get a little rain...

We are going to go up to Santa Fe today. There is a mom and pop nursery there. One of our transplanted pine trees didn't do too well and has been slowly dying for the past month. It will get replaced. That will be most of the agenda for today.

We were able to complete getting the landscape weed fabric down in the big bed yesterday. Back is stiff / sore today from all the bending over... Knee was complaining last night, but not too bad this morning. I am already mentally preparing for the next phase of more bending/stooping.... the drip irrigation lines.... That will happen sometime this week....

Also have to try and find time in the schedule to do the 250 hour service on the tractor. It is a just a few hours past (257 hours), so not too big a concern. Definitely need to do it before I get the gravel delivered.....

Everyone have a great day!
