Good Morning.
It’s 75 and going past 95 with high humidity today.

Yesterday was uncomfortably hot outside, so I stayed mostly inside in the air conditioned shop.

Today will be another inside day after I get back from a quick trip to Newport News this morning.

I flew from Patrick Henry to Friendship Field on my way to San Francisco once, the names of the airports should tell you how long ago that was.

Good Morning!!!! 76F @ 4:30AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 103F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Excessive Heat Warning will expire tonight, but the 10-day sez the daily highs will continue to flirt with the century mark. Yesterday afternoon going up to get the mail, I think I heard the concrete sizzling.

Beautiful gate work, Bird. What kind of phone did you get?

Got several responses to the Facebook ad for the car port frame, and set up a meet for yesterday morning at 9:30 to sell it. Then I remembered that what's left of the tarp that goes with it was underneath one of the rows of firewood that had fallen over. Had to move about half a cord of wood to free it up, and had just enough time left to get it all loaded and make the meeting time. The buyer had no such worries; the idiot showed up 20 minutes late. But at least he showed up, and he had the money.

I spent another couple hours restacking the firewood when I got home, finishing up at lunch time, and thoroughly fried by the sun. Mr. Back wasn't too happy, either. Lunch and a nap helped a lot.

Found a guy at a plumbing supply house that actually sounded like he knew what he was talking about and placed an order for the poly pipe. Sounds like they carry the fittings, too, and maybe even the parts I need to hook up the fire truck. I redid my sketches of what I think the hookup looks like, and will take them along when I go to town tomorrow to see what's what.

Meanwhile, I checked in with my pump and well expert, and he's chasing down the gauge for the sensor wire that will control the well pump based on the level of the upper tank. I'll swing by his shop tomorrow and pick up the sensor itself.

More telephone time today to chase down the conduit for the electrical stuff. I wanna run Ethernet up to the new tank, too, and install some kind of vault half way up so I can branch off a line up to the cul-de-sac after fire season when it's safe to trench again.

I also need to chase down the order for the repurposed billboard tarp. It was supposed to be here Sunday. Good thing I don't have anything else to do...:rolleyes:

Newport News is still Patrick Henry, but Friendship Field became BWI in the early 70’s if my memory still functions.

You have a good memory. The name changed in 1973.

Back in the day, Our company’s flight operations reported to me. We had 8 fixed wing aircraft, 2 helicopters, 18 full time pilots and a pretty nice FBO.

All Falcons. Last aircraft we bought was a 7x.

That sort of stuff isn’t quite what it was nowadays.

Bingo.

I've had one of these gizmos hanging by the workbench for years, and between the American and German vehicles, it gets a workout!

I've got metric and SAE sets of the Thread Detective.

Looks nice, Rick, if you can find 'em when you need 'em. The wall hanger thing I have is too big to lose, and there's so much stuff everywhere else on the wall there's no place else for it to go. 😄

Probably kind of ordinary and old fashioned to some of our more up to date members:):) but definitely a step up from the old phone I had; it's a Samsung Galaxy A32 5G.

Incidentally, I'd never seen a fence and gate built quite the same way. I expected them to build gates and install to the fence, but they went at it as if they were just building the fence, added some ex and vertical pieces, put on the hinges, etc. then cut the horizontal strips of wood. Pretty neat and sure made everything lined up perfectly.

That may just be the customary way to do it to you and others, but I'd never seen it done that way before.

Yep, that was 1971, Friendship was the one I had in mind. When we landed at O’hare the terminal was jammed with planes, we had to walk across the tarmac to the terminal in 95° heat. Once we were inside I discovered that we were at one end of the horseshoe and my San Francisco flight was boarding at opposite end, with less than hour to walk around there.

Good morning! 73˚F very cloudy rain likely again after the 1/2" yesterday.

Eric, I have neither the knowledge of Popgadget, or the gizmo wall chart of RNG, or the pretty red and black things Rick has but I do have the "Helpful Hardware Man" at the local Ace Hardware store. When I was looking for one of two rare bolts that came off my chainsaw the Ace man took the other bolt and found the exact match with their gizmo card they had on the wall like RNG has on his.

Had a problem on the last game of the quarter that determines our card H&F ranking. Old age. My elderly partner dirtied one of only 2 cleans we had to get into her foot, with plenty of other places to put her last wild card. She blamed it on the weather. I was nice and bit my tongue and just smiled as I saw my #1 ranking slip away.

The voluntary cantaloupe plant took a big hit from the bugs. I don't know if it will recover even after the sudsy extermination. Too bad, we just cannot get a cantaloupe in the store that is really sweet. They have all been picked too early.
If it dries a bit, instead of more rain, I'll mow today.

I looked at the Stihl but it was 6” and she wanted the smallest lightest one we could get. Plus the Stihl + battery and charger extra was about triple the price. A lot for something that might not get used twice.
Biggest thing though was the size.
It's 4" but no extra battery or 2nd chain.
I need to research the Amp Hour rating on the batteries for a good comparison. I will need it to cut during a 2 hour work session. (about 1 hour of run time.). I'm in no hurry, we are on summer break for 2 months.
