Wng, so sorry to hear of the loss of your great friend. I bet for the rest of your life you will smile and think of Coco each time you see a frisbee in flight.

Good morning, lots of catching up to do here, which is partially the fault of the weather forecasters. Since Friday they keep saying it will rain later in the day, so I put off sitting down with a computer until it arrives, however the clouds keep refusing to part with a drop.

I have never felt as old as today, having just opened a letter from the government saying I will soon be eligible to receive my state pension. To have made it to the point where the tax paying youngsters of today help provide for old folk like me is something of a milestone in life. How can I receive a pension when I haven't yet grown up ?

Kyle, I gave up my design insurance earlier this year, so perhaps best I decline your kind 90% royalties waiver and stay well clear of anything to do with lithium chargers. Actually even with that insurance there was something in the small print that was to the effect that I had worldwide cover except for North America - I wonder why, surely the lawyers in your fine country only pursue those that knowingly do wrong ... :)

Good morning. It was 72° earlier but 98% humidity. Our high I'd forecast to only get to 84° this afternoon, a nice break from recent mid 90's.

We decided recently, to remove 600' of cross fencing between the house and our outbuildings. When we bought this ranch we used the quarters in the workshop and had calves on the pasture where we ended up building the house. Now .. there's no need for the cross fencing.

The hardest part was removing and rolling up the fence wire. Once that was done .. pulling all the posts was easy, air conditioned work.

Done.

After all our rain in May (20"+) and early June (5"+) we got behind on mowing around the house .. so used the tractor and rear finish mower.

Hope everyone has a great start to your week.

Prayers to all.

72°F and mostly clear skies this morning, going up to 88° today. The humidity has been downright oppressive here the last few days. 84% right now. Voice on the radio this morning called it "air you can wear." A good description.

Rained here pretty much all day yesterday, off and on. That lasted into the night as well. The doggy doorbell on the back sunroom door sounded at about 04:00 this morning. I awoke with that initial "What the ...?" reaction, until I realized it was triggered by sideways rain hitting the door. Never really did get back to sleep before the alarm sounded at 05:00.

Had some good quality time in the studio yesterday evening, getting a couple of older projects wrapped up and a start on a new one.

I believe I overdid it as well, Roy. My back was hurting all day yesterday, and is still a bit out of sorts this morning. I knew I should have called it quits when I stopped the first time while trimming on that hill, but I went back for more.

Unscrupulous lawyers in the US, Eric? Nonesense. Did I ever tell the motorcycle helmet story here? (stop me if you've heard this one) Back in 1990 I bought an '89 BMW R100RT. Great bike, the one I wish I still had. I also bought a BMW System II helmet. Great helmet, made for them by Schuberth. A couple years later, they came out with the improved System III helmet. Unfortunately, I was unable to buy one, as the company had decided not to release it for sale in the US, citing the law suit happy culture here. They specifically mentioned a suit against competitor Bell in which they were sued for the head injuries sustained by an owner of one of their helmets. Turned out the rider didn't even have the helmet on at the time of the crash. It was strapped to the side of the bike. However, Bell had to spend the money to defend themselves against the frivolous lawsuit nonetheless.

That's a good report on the Makita, Paul. I wasn't impressed with the chain that came on the regular Makita chainsaw, so put an 18" bar on it and switched to a Stihl chain. Cuts really well now. Still have to see if the Makita Stihl pole saws use the same chain. I sure hope so.

The chainsaw uses a low profile 3/8 pitch x .043 gauge chain. The pole saw uses a 3/8 low profile x .050 gauge chain.
I bought two extra Stihl chains for each. The Stihl chain definitely performs better, but the Oregon chain on the pole saw wasn’t too bad.

Good morning.
It’s now 83 and going to pass 90.
Temp is up 10 degrees in the last 3 hours.

Yesterday’s trip to the Vineyard went well, viability was up to 3/4 of a mile when we departed Philly, was 3 miles when we got there. Best part was my copilot was my son.
He doesn’t work for me any more, but stays current and flies periodically.

Got home in time to be quite productive in the shop.

This morning went to breakfast with son, DIL, grandson and an old friend, was a pleasant time. After breakfast I dropped two speakers off at FedEx. One going to Cedar Rapids, the other to Milwaukee.

Now I’ll let the dogs out and go back into shop.

Drew, the Tuckahoe Steam Show is coming up in a couple weeks. It’s a nice show with tractors, a few cars, and threshing, lumber mill, shingle making, rock crushing. Dunno if Randy goes but it’s quite the experience. Think it starts on the 8th.

I’ve been to Tuckahoe it’s been a few years.

64°F and .08 inches rain.

Yesterday was an interesting diversion with the TV, good for a wet, inside day. But that didn’t help the mowing situation. It awaits.
Well pleased with the picture. Our old Dish doesn’t do 4K.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Thank you guys for all the warm and kind words regarding my surgery and losing Coco. I'd be honored and delighted if any of you were my real next door neighbors.

Kyle, interesting concept of making diamonds...and with a heart like yours, I don't think you could ever say anything to offend me.

Randy, glad you got a chance to go to Hertford and get some good food. Did they build any kind of memorial to Catfish?

Don, sorry your success at H&F has bumped you into a higher tax bracket. Remember, you can deduct your losses, too. ;)

RNG, quite the trench you have there...aerial photo really shows how busy you've been.

The doctor says I can't hike for 6 weeks, but encourages me to walk a lot...so I've returned to just "walking" on the trails, not hiking. 🤫 My wife cut about half of the zero-turn acreage Saturday for the first time, and Sunday morning told me that when she went to bed she had a sensation much like after you've been out deep sea fishing all day...sort of a motion feeling...and the dust aggravated her sinuses...so it sounds like I haven't lost my zero to her permanently. Otherwise, I've caught up on some paperwork, enjoyed some John Wayne movies and Perry Mason and Yellowstone episodes, and probably put on a couple of pounds. Oh, and I watered the garden with a half gallon watering can to keep the weight down...must have made a thousands trips to refill it...more good walking.

There are large signs coming into town, if there is a memorial it would likely be at the Little League complex. He was very active there once he retired, wasn’t unusual for him to mow grass, rake the infield, etc… My cousin’s brother in law, Douglass Hurdle, was good friends with Jim, they went to school together. The three of us would go shoot pool with Jim in the off season. He turned me on to eating Fritos with ketchup. LOL He was very down to earth. Now I’m the only one of the four left.

Thanks for the info, Paul. The Stihl pole saw uses a 3/8 pitch chain, too, but it's 0.043" gauge. Not sure I have spares for it, but if I do, they'll go with it if/when it sells. Then I'll pick up a pair of Stihl chains for the Makita pole saw. Though near as I can tell, the original chain is still on the Stihl, and I can't remember ever sharpening it in the 10 years I've had it. But then I only used it a handful of times. Once when I first got it to get the trees in shape, then maybe every two or three years to take care of branches that had grown lower.
