86 now but comfortable in the shade, wife and I had eye exams this afternoon, ordered new glasses, $$$$!
I still have to go to my retina specialist soon. I’m having what appears to be a minor issue.
Grilled turkey burgers and corn on the cob, had Mac salad also. I feel a little guilty about missing church, but the homemade blueberry and strawberry pancakes eased my conscience a little. We took a nice long ride before lunch.
Not much else today.
Thinking of Wngsprd and Buppies, Bird also and everyone in need of something.

Drew, the Tuckahoe Steam Show is coming up in a couple weeks. It’s a nice show with tractors, a few cars, and threshing, lumber mill, shingle making, rock crushing. Dunno if Randy goes but it’s quite the experience. Think it starts on the 8th.

Currently 80F outside and clear, HI 83.

Attic ventilator just shut off a bit ago.

When I checked about an hour or two ago - just before I went back out after dinner - it was 85F, felt like 94F, with a DP of 76, 75% humidity.

Got the pork delivery made and hung around for a little chat.

Refilled hopper feeder when I got back, three more house sparrows in the trap. Did not cover it tonight, low will only be 72F. Did take up some fresh water and cracked corn earlier.

Woman says hawk has taken to perching atop Nest Box No. 5. That's probably not good.

Did some clean up in that area in the second circle, brought more screened compost down:

IMG_1180 copy.jpg

Think that makes 5 bucket loads so far. Still more raking to do.

There are a number of small oak trees on the right side of the picture that I'll try and remove and transplant. The large oak on the right has been producing lots of mast every year. Number of other smaller trees in there that need removed also as well as a good amount of poison ivy. Also there are some honeysuckle bushes in the back that will get removed and planted elsewhere.

Even though that area was in the shade it was still pretty brutal working out there this afternoon.

Didn't take too long before I threw in the towel and headed inside to see what I had in the way of PVC and fittings for the sprinkler rig for the beds. Gathered that stuff up and then started working on the Menards order for what I was missing.

Also ordered new strapping on Amazon for the shoulder strap on the FS 66 which broke the other day. $6 for 10 yards ... which will probably be a lifetime supply. They even had it in orange ... which should help in spotting it when it gets set down somewhere. Supposed to be arriving by tomorrow.

Hauled water buffalo around back and got it filled.

Woman brought home Dominos for dinner.

She came outside for awhile afterwards and we got the garden watered and she worked on her plants out front.

We dumped the entire 55 gallon load from the buffalo on the hydrangeas, hostas, and daylilies out in front of the garage. Ground was cracked, that area took it all ... no run off. Dunno if it was because it was dry or because Alvin and Company.

After that I hauled a load of trash and recycles up to the road, picked up the invasive shrubs that were laying on the lawn that she had removed from the hosta the other day and hauled those over to the burn pile. Grabbed the two buckets of hosta on the way back down to the house so they could be watered.

Then loaded up the bucket on the Kubota with items for the compost pile and took those up. Ran a couple bucketloads of compost through the screener while I was up there.

It was still light when I came back down so I fired up the Cub and ran up and mowed the compost/wood lot as it was starting to get long.

Need to finish off Menards order and get it placed so we can pick it up tomorrow (good activity to get done while it's raining)

Hope everyone had a great day ... (y)

Wow David, a jig for TV mounting?
How is the caretaker unit coming along?

Thanks, worked very well. Easy off and in with Soph working the jack as I guided. Bought that hydraulic table when friend moved back to mainland and it had been a lifesaver.
Took a bit longer as I had to lower the wall mount.

Caretaker work basically on hold until I get mowing caught up and a few other things thisweek.

Enjoy your evening all.

I bought a pair of jeans at TSC yesterday, didn’t check for TP in the changing room , as I never try them on. Always get same size as before.

Went in to get a 7 to 6 pin trailer adapter, seems I left my 2 at home, so now have a third.
I now have a “new” trailer also.

First cup of coffee is cooling. 70° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 84° with chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Got couple coats of paint on parts of chairs. Put second coat of stain on seats and table top. Hope to get more done today. Grass is growing like it is May. May mow it today.
Finally, Moon peaked out of clouds enough for a picture yesterday.

Buckeye, nice trailer.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

good morning all. 74 out now, going way up to HI of 104 today with heat warning.
PT this morning, then appt with shoulder surgeon at noon.

I think we were all marveling at David's tv installer. Problem is where to store it when done...but sure is handy when you need it.

RS, take it easy in the heat friend, you are doing a lot of hard physical work. Like we all should, pace yourself. Your place just keeps getting prettier.

Engineer/Tom, thanks very much! Tuckahoe Steam & Gas Association - Home

at church yesterday I realized they really need help with lawn mowing. I helped out about ten years ago, but they solved the biggest problem by
outsourcing weedeating for the cemetery. Used to take caretaker so long to do, now he can almost keep up with mowing. But the pic of Dennis's new trailer
reminded me of how nice it would be to have one. And another big "tool" to store. I don't have a lot of room any more. I can't use the church's zturn but could trailer my
own mower over as I used to. Assuming I had my own mower............... :sneaky:
C'mon John Deere, get your butt in gear and build my mower.

Thank you guys for all the warm and kind words regarding my surgery and losing Coco. I'd be honored and delighted if any of you were my real next door neighbors.

Kyle, interesting concept of making diamonds...and with a heart like yours, I don't think you could ever say anything to offend me.

Randy, glad you got a chance to go to Hertford and get some good food. Did they build any kind of memorial to Catfish?

Don, sorry your success at H&F has bumped you into a higher tax bracket. Remember, you can deduct your losses, too. ;)

RNG, quite the trench you have there...aerial photo really shows how busy you've been.

The doctor says I can't hike for 6 weeks, but encourages me to walk a lot...so I've returned to just "walking" on the trails, not hiking. 🤫 My wife cut about half of the zero-turn acreage Saturday for the first time, and Sunday morning told me that when she went to bed she had a sensation much like after you've been out deep sea fishing all day...sort of a motion feeling...and the dust aggravated her sinuses...so it sounds like I haven't lost my zero to her permanently. Otherwise, I've caught up on some paperwork, enjoyed some John Wayne movies and Perry Mason and Yellowstone episodes, and probably put on a couple of pounds. Oh, and I watered the garden with a half gallon watering can to keep the weight down...must have made a thousands trips to refill it...more good walking.

Good morning.

Yesterday afternoon we had my 2 sisters , their husbands, my 2 boys, their dates and my dad over to play some games. My wife likes “game days”.

So, everyone arrives and gets drinks, chit chat, eat some snacks and the game players go to the dining room to play games. The rest get some beers and settle in to watch baseball on TV.

Everything is fine. Lots of conversation.

Then, I notice it’s feeling a little warm. Go to thermostat and it’s 78F. Temp set at 74F. Not good.

Go to vent and it’s blowing room temp air. Not good. Go to basement and check out easy stuff. Nothing I can remedy.

Go back up and my wife (bless her heart) thought it was getting warm and turned the thermostat down from 74F to 72F. Mind you, the thermostat already said the actual temp was 78F. That ain’t going to work.

Fortunately, a rain storm hits and outside temps come down.

Call repair guy and he gets here in about an hour. Opens unit and sees the condenser is bad. Replaces condenser and goes on his way.

I get back in and it’s working. Took about 15 minutes to get from 79F back to 74F.

The gamers are still playing and yuk yuk. The TV watchers are drinking another beer.

No one seems to know or care.

So, overall, nice afternoon/evening with family.

Have a good day all.

MoKelly

Right on the cusp of a still hotter day here in the PNW. I've just about got the house as cool as I can with the fans.

Topped out at 102F @ 4pm yesterday. Prediction is for 105F today.

It got to 82F inside yesterday.

Morning all, already past 80 and going up.
Pool was nice, but green flies biting is getting old.

BEF - so many new toys.
Wngsprd - walking is good, keep moving and healing goes faster. Good to hear you can at least walk trails

Stay safe and be well.

Good Morning!!!! 78F @ 5:00AM. Sunny. High 103F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
The high was 102F yesterday afternoon, so I decided to sip a margarita on the back porch and get some sun after soaking down under the outside shower. The sip and soak cycle lasted maybe ten minutes before I needed to get wet again, and the margarita lasted maybe an hour before it was time to come back into the air conditioning. The rest of the 10-day forecast shows similar temperatures...

Yesterday morning I got gravel raked into the gap between the shipping container and the ground, closing it off to embers. Then got the ladder out and cleaned a few handfulls of pine needles out of the gutters and from under the storage trailer. And that pretty much completes the fire preparedness for this year. By then I'd soaked through my clothes and needed a cool off, so I jumped into the shower. Lunch was followed by a nap. Siesta season is here.

One of the neighbors posted on Facebook that he wanted a steel pipe frame from a carport to make a shed for his rabbits, and I have a used and wind abused one I can't use here because of the wind. It's mostly complete but some of the pieces of EMT are bowed, and one or two badly kinked or bent. Dug the pipes out from under the trailer, found the fittings, and took pictures of the whole mess and sent it to him, saying I'd take fifty bux for it. He asks if he can get a 10'x20' frame out of the pieces, but without actually putting it together, which I have neither the time nor the inclination to do, I can't guarantee anything. So I put adds on Craig's List and Facebook for the frame in hopes someone less picky might want it. And while I was at it, I put adds for a Stihl pole saw and hedge trimmer up there, too. So now I'm waiting for the scammer emails and clueless "is it still available" messages, and people that say they want stuff and never follow through. Good thing I'm in no hurry to sell any of it but could use the room once it's gone.

Glad to hear you're up and getting around OK Billie. Six weeks'll be gone before you know it!

Sounds like you've got yourself a great repair guy, John. And congrats on being named TBN Top Poster of the Month! Where do you find the time?

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start...

Good morning! 72˚F cloudy 98% humidity HI 72. Rain yesterday! Tempest 2.18, cocorahas 2.32. Chance of more rain today hi of only 86 predicted.

Drew those beets look like they are ready to go in the instant pot along with their greens and then in the food processor with the other ingredients for beet burgers.
Mostly, good eye on screen size it was twice as big as it should have been, but all I had.
Ron finally got your full moon pic, looks evil like the beginning of a horror movie.
Wngsprd, slow and easy walks. Thanks for the reminder to also keep track of losses. I guess I can deduct millage and yearly club fees ($5) also?
Sadamo, your rig reminds me of my rig last week to get a heavy hutch on the entry way bench. I just had 2X4s and the dog and cats food storage containers to work with to ladder up the hutch 18" up slowly one side at a time.
RNG and others out West take care in the heat.

Whipper finished her meds a week ago and they seemed to get her over the hump in her sickness. They got her back to normal and she is doing fine and doing a lot of prancing around - happy dog.
Bugs are feasting on my newly identified cantaloupe, I'll take care of those this morning with soapy water. (If I don't get rained out)
