Getting a tad warm now...right at 80°...

Spent an hour or so string trimming and pulling weeds...bit of a break, than some more weeding. Won't need any more string trimming today

thanks Roy, lots of low battery warnings I am NOT hearing so battery is getting charged.
I'll call Sony CS tomorrow. I'm not trying to Blue Tooth pair it or play music, nothing but the sound reduction.
Maybe because I haven't set up the other it's turning off like a sleep function thinking I'm not using it. ??
The battery should last all day and then some. I have the $349 pair of Sonys and they work great.
Drew, maybe you need to exchange them.
On mine, you can push the power on button for a second, then the gal will tell you what % charge remains.

Good Morning!!!! 77F @ 7:30AM. Sunny. Record high temperatures expected. High near 105F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Excessive Heat Warning continues through Wednesday, and we're now in an Exceptional Drought condition. Last night it only made it down to 85F, and the A/C ran most of the night. Every day sees new fires break out with Full Wildfire Response: ground and air crews scrambling to put it out before it spreads into something they can't handle. So far, locally at least, they've been successful. Most have been man caused: Idiots using lawnmowers on dry grass or running defective catalytic converters that spew white hot particles onto the roadsides. Thanks to someone writing down a license plate number, the last one of those idiots will be getting a huge fine for the cost of putting out the flames.

Beautiful lily, Ron. The deer out here would love it! The neighbors are complaining that they're even eating the deer resistant plants like lavender and sage because all the grasses and even the weeds are all brown and dried out.

That's a good report on the Makita, Paul. I wasn't impressed with the chain that came on the regular Makita chainsaw, so put an 18" bar on it and switched to a Stihl chain. Cuts really well now. Still have to see if the Makita Stihl pole saws use the same chain. I sure hope so.

I had ambitions of doing some outside work yesterday, but never quite made it out of the house. Did some paperwork first thing that dragged out, and next thing I knew it was in the mid 90s. I'm going to get an earlier start today.

Tried a new pizza crust recipe yesterday, this time letting the yeast set ten minutes in warm water before being incorporated into the dough. Came out nice and crisp on the bottom thanks to the pizza steel, but because I turned off the propane too early, it was a white crust on top. Still good though.

I also used the label maker to put stickers on the drone controller so I could remember what each of the buttons do. The controller is black, and the labels the factory puts on it are engraved into the plastic, which makes them almost impossible to read. I used tape with white letters on a clear background, and now they're easily seen. I also tried flying on a low controller battery, and lost contact with the drone when it got kinda high. Just the video went out, so I was able to get it back down OK, but it was an anxious time before I could hear the buzz again. It's supposed to have an automatic return to home function that kicks in after 11 seconds of lost contact, but it didn't kick in since the controls were still working. It's also very difficult to see the iPad screen in sunlight, and standing in the shade under the eves of the house cuts down on signal strength, too. Charging the battery fixed the problem, so now I'll just plan ahead and get everything on the charger the day before I want to fly.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend...

80 degrees this morning for the LOW, going for a high of 92. Now the weather forecast is for a possibility, or good chance, of rain every day from late today through the coming week. AND for the first time in many months, no dew on the grass this morning. SO I got out there and started mowing before sunrise and was through and back in the house, ringing wet with sweat of course, before 8 a.m. My yard has been in dire need of mowing every 5 days lately.

77°F and thunderstorms this morning, going up to 81° today. Rain or storms in the forecast here every day through Thursday.

Caught a break from the weather gods yesterday when almost all of the rain either fell apart or missed us to the north. "The Arch Effect" was in full force yesterday, allowing me to get a lot more grass cut than I originally expected. Got everything from the road back to the barn. Only the pasture needs mowing now. I also got a bunch of trimming done, including the hill by the road that I've been avoiding. I had to split it into two attempts, needing a break about halfway through it. But, that's done now. Very windy here most of the day, around 15-20 mph, probably from the passing storms.

Also saw another groundhog frolicking by the side of the barn yesterday evening. 🤬

Fed the chickens this morning, then made the trip to Tractor Supply in Breese IL for more feed. I forget how busy that little town gets in Summer, as all the boaters and campers descend on Carlyle Lake. When I pulled out of the TSC parking lot, I saw a line of cars wrapped around the building and out to the road at the McD's next to them.

It's only 81° right now, but the humidity is 88%. Thinking the rest of today is going to be an inside day. I donated enough sweat yesterday.

67°F and .06 inches rain.

Hope to swap out the TV today then back to mowing. Managed to smoke the belts so need to change this first. Should have let the grass dry out more.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

84 and partly cloudy/mostly sunny @ 12:00, HI 89F. Expected high for the day is 88F.

Likely will be a "low outside activity" day ... with whatever I do outside - if anything - being done mostly in the shade. Might do some pressure washing though.

I do need to pull the van over into the shade and open up the windows. Have 20 lbs of pork from the neighbor to deliver to a friend later today for their shindig on the 4th.

Only mowing that could be done at this point is the compost/wood lot and it's not all that bad.

I did manage to make it back out into the garage last night and worked on cleaning it up and organizing things until just a little after midnight.

Ran across some Rainbird sprinkler heads and PVC risers in the garage I picked up last year with the intention of putting together a little watering rig for the planting beds, might go ahead and see about cobbling that together ... or at least figure out what additional fittings I need to do it.

Also have another fireman's nozzle for a garden hose that needs the end piece loctited in.

Always some fish room maintenance to be done as well.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday ... (y)
