Good morning, no where near as cold as Check in Toronto, though the weak sun is not making much impression on the ice in the weather bucket.
Ron, that must be a great feeling to be able to safely visit family again.
Digging out a gatepost that has rotted off always seems to be a lot of effort. A few days ago I welded up some scraps of steel to go around 3 sides of a stump, thinking that I would then only need to dig down say 18 inches, screw in 4 bolts and pull out the post with the loader. I had drilled and tapped the steel for M12 bolts , though when I rummaged in the shed I couldn't find any long enough, instead I tried using coach screws. Utter failure, the coach screws bent and pulled through the rotten timber, I ended up digging down almost 4' on two sides before I could get it out. Never mind, I'm sure it won't be long before the next post snaps off and I can try again
