Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low only 34, going up to 52 today. Then the start of the cool down begins! High of 15 forecasted for Sunday with a very good chance of snow. 35 degree difference in high temps.... should be an eye opener for sure! Those temps in the upper MidWest are crazy cold..... well, for most of us....Lookingfornew would think it's spring!:)

LFN, I hope your daughter does OK. I must have British roots somewhere.... I put salt on almost everything (I know that I shouldn't)

David... no surgery yet.... scheduled for Friday, barring any last minute problems. No time was given yet.... I hope to know by tomorrow....

Yesterday was spent taking care of loose-end errands before I get laid up.... An important errand was to get a check into the bank... problem was: it didn't arrive in the mail. Now it is 2 days late... I am getting concerned.....maybe it will arrive today, if not then I will get the attention of the sender!

Closing on the house was to happen today.... then my son got an email from the title company canceling the meeting.... they said they didn't receive some needed paperwork.... My son said they will inform them today that it better happen tomorrow, or the seller won't be able to sign! Incompetent group to say the least....

Yesterday got a little seat time in, taking down some fencing to give access to replace the septic tank. Used the bucket and chain to pull up 3 posts. The job went a lot easier than expected, all done in an hour.

Ok, now I forgot everything that I was remembering that you guys posted.... I have to start taking notes again.

Workinonit, :welcome:Welcome to the Good morning crew !

Some shop time today putting the finishing touches on the blanket chest. Then get it into a safe spot until my daughter's birthday in March.

Everyone have a great day!

LS, that would be spring. No doubt about it.
We had warm weather one spring and got the garden planted by the beginning of May....Then a hard freeze came along and we lost everything. I use May 24 th weekend as my benchmark. NOTHING goes into the ground before May 24th. That theory worked for us when we lived east of Toronto and it should work 3.5 hours north of Toronto.

Ted, good luck with surgery, may it give you long term relief, and also with
the house sale. Last summer Wells Fargo mortgage company told buyer of my farm they
needed an extra week to prepare docs, blamed it on Covid, and of course found new
docs now required to be signed. Scratched my head and wondered how they could be
so screwed up operationally that after waiting over a month with everything in, they
still weren't ready.

My job for today is measure, cut and install MERV13 filter material on all the heater vents in house. No master vent/filter unfortunately,
and the place is very dusty, which it shouldn't be other than it seems the new wool area rugs continue to shed a little.

When I bought this place it was a 'power of sale'. The bank owned it and it was empty. I gave the bank 30 days to get their act together. The realtor told me that they wouldn't move that fast on it and I told him 2 things. (1) the bank is in the money business and the house had been empty for a year. The original owner defaulted on $100,000.oo he owed the bank. And (2) if they didn't want to close in 30 days that they could find another sucker. The whole deal would be cancelled. They agreed to my terms. Got it for $52,900.oo Took 15 years to pay for it.

Workinonit, welcome to Good Morning thread. A TBN member that worked at the Monroe,Michigan power plant took me and another member on a tour of the plant. Learned a lot about how electricity is made with coal.

Back from second vaccine shot. No side effects yet. 🤠

LFN, glad daughter is back, hope everything checks out OK.

I just got a call from the title company, closing is scheduled for tomorrow at 1pm.... I told them that was the last shot that they will have... after Friday morning, I won't be available.
I guess the very stern email that my son sent them last evening got them off their butts....

So far things coming together after a few concerns over the past few days, shop time successful this morning, got the first coat of the oil finish on the blanket chest

While this coat is drying, I'm going to go to the PO to see if my check is there.... keeping my fingers crossed!

The bottom of the inverted vortex will be upon us Tuesday. 7˚F predicted Tuesday and snow for 5 days next week in Central Texas. How low is it predicted to get in your neck of the woods?

Woohoo! Check was there... in the bank already! All the loose ends now taken care of! (For now anyway)

We are supposed to get snow Saturday night and Sunday, high temps in the low teens, nights dropping to low single digits. Then more snow on Tuesday. The most they are saying about accumulations is "some areas are going to get a lot, up in the mountains, some areas in the valleys only a few inches"....
I don't like it when they don't give a prediction.... that's when we get dumped on.

The cold is going to reach way down to south central Texas.... better get your layers of clothing set out!

Good deal.

I'm home. My son had a positive test, and my company wants me to stay home rest of week and get tested on Friday. He's fine, bored, and wanting to go outside and play. Depending on results, I might get to go back on Monday.

Today's chore list: (Its chilly, damp and drizzling)
1) Split firewood and stack for TxDon's polar vortex. Done. Can't we get Ron to shut the backdoor up there ehh???
2) Check antifreeze levels in all liquid cooled engines. Done.
3) Plug in chicken coop heater cord. Done.
4) Watch wifey work out with her 21 day beach body video. Done! This was the easiest chore. :)

Don, I had to use the chainsaw notch trick to split one of the big Post oak rounds with the electric splitter. It was prolly about 24" diameter x 18 long. Chainsaw was out of premix, and my son has ran us out of premix with his GT80....I had a small can of spare to get by with.

Is there such a thing as old oak being so hard....that it doesn't readily burn? This stuff is almost as hard as stone. Tuf on chainsaw chains. DAMHIK. :)

Ron, nice pictures. I sure enjoy them. Loved the doe. I just ordered a cheapie Dell refurbished.
Dell OptiPlex 5040 Mini Tower, 1x Intel Core i5 Quad (i5-6600) 3.30 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD, DVD-ROM, AMD Radeon R5 340X (2 GB), Windows 10 Professional

Shipping was free. $267.32 delivered. Not a speedster, but I'm just updating a guestroom computer for my autistic daughter....the old one has Windows Vista. She will use it to watch videos primarily.

Had 2 skinny pieces of pork tenderloin, and some sweet potatoes for lunch. Yummy, but I think my wifey wants me to look as skinny as she is....

Oh, pre-op test for Covid19 came back, all clear, and negative for any antibodies. No word on any vaccine here for our group. They are still trying to get the first group done!

The Fantic belonged to a friend that I used to ride and compete with. Back then I rode a Montessa 348. When he passed about 5 years ago his family gave me the Fantic which had been sitting neglected in a shed for decades. I made a winter project out of putting it back on its feet. Yup that’s my grandson.
I feel guilty about my internet speed, I’m rural and a quarter mile from the road, Verizon ran fiber back to me at no charge other than the monthly service.

That’s via WIFI on my iPad.

I get 125-240 depending on users and position. But upload is throttled at 6.
