Good morning!!!!

21 going to 35 today.
Yesterday was electronic gremlin day. Main computer is broken, laptop decided to go wonkie and needed to be reset and my ipad even started having issues(I think that was a world wide DNS problem)
We had the power go out suddenly on Sunday for 1/2 an hour. Whatever that was sure messed with all my stuff.

Drew-We can get kero here at most places that supply fuel to trucks. My garage is very well insulated and usually stays around 40 even if left alone. The salamander heater I use brings it up to 65 degrees in about 15 minutes. That keeps it warm enough for most of the day to do what I need. I am using the same 5 gallons I bought in 2020. I might use more now that I'm staying home more. I leave a small door open and have a carbon monoxide detector running.
Still not much going on. Wife is going to start working part time soon. Will keep puttering away at the little things.
Stay safe and healthy all!

31 and cloudy, going to 49. Had sprinkles most of the day yesterday.

Don, got any snow left?

Rick, glad you're getting your shot today. Sounds like Texas has the vaccine thing going well.

Rip, sorry about the survey. Is your drain field well within your boundaries? If so, maybe there is an alternative to a full survey that will be simpler, cheaper?

Saw Stripey the skunk in the front yard again last night before bed. Turns out it was a male, and quite large with lots of stink to share before I carried him over to the woods for the vultures. Didn't smell too bad out there this morning since the wind had shifted away from the house.

Gonna try my back out on cutting some firewood today...start slowly on a few smaller trees that blew over the woods trail during last summer's big storm.

21 outside this AM, heading to 49. Yesterday was about as grey and cold as it could get without rain/sleet or snow. Odd day.

Thanks Rick for all the detailed info on the pump. I will be looking at it today to see what is up with the handle.

wngsprd, yes on the partial. Talked with all involved and they just need three points. Corners. LOL. Only a couple of thousand feet. LOL. Sigh. Sounds like you did the deed with stripey.

Need to go look at another truck this AM. Will drop of wife, who is better at dealing than I, to make the situation right. We are leaning towards getting rid of the trouble truck instead of another transmission. Hey, it's the New Year...clean the slate...right?

Hope all have a great day, be safe and stay healthy my friends. Prayers for you all.

Poured first cup of coffee. 25° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 32° with patches of freezing rain. Got of the 2 projects done on yesterdays list. Still need to grease tree trimmer and sharpen chainsaw chains. Not sure I will get to them today. HVAC contractor texted to let me know he is coming out to install new furnace today. Yah!!! No other plans.

Wngsprd, take it easy with the wood cutting. Skunk control seems to be working.

Randy, glad you are on a list to be on a list. :confused2:

Riptides, Glad I have updated surveys of my place. Maybe you have neighbors that have updated surveys.

Looking, I remember visiting friends in Merlin, Ontario in the 50's. They had this 12" diameter by 3' high tube with a coil in it in bathroom. It had a gas burner at bottom. I was told it was their water heater. Do not touch it. Of course I did . It was hot.

Buppies, got any long term weather forecast for Great Lakes area. Been kind of mild with little moisture so far.

All the stories about out house and hand water pumps bring back great memories. Well kind of. We always dropped ashes down the hole to help dissolve the droppings at my Grandparents Place.

Everyone stay healthy and safe

Good Morning All.

good morning all. Another cold but sunny day.
Nice to hear folks are getting on lists. Wonder why there is so little available information
when information is so easy to get out.

landlady headed over here this morning to drop off some touch up paint I asked for and to measure
the three broken flagstones in the walkway. First half of walkway needs to be picked up and reset at a better grade,
stones have simply sunk where they are. That leaves pools of water for me to walk through after a heavy rain.
So looks like she will supply replacement stones and my guy when he comes will relevel the walkway. I'm also having him make
a paver floor for the area where the portable gen sits behind the house. All projects I would enjoy if my back would allow it, which it doesn't.

but have to make things a little neater inside. She's an older lady and very good about wearing a mask. I think she is bringing her painter with her so maybe
I won't have to paint either, just a little trim where interior doors got moved.

Good morning. Clouds starting to move away after a night of heavy rain. Sheep are having a real treat today as my wife agreed to them grazing part of the garden. Most of them are still in the field, waiting to see if anything bad happens to the advance party, wary that this is just too good to be true.

My outhouse memories are not at all rural, I was brought up in a large city. The houses where my grandparents lived each had outside toilets, all in a long row. Theirs was somewhere around the middle of the row and had a green door, which didn't help much in finding the right one at night - or even day, as the same tin of paint must have been used on them all. In winter a Kelly lamp with a flame the size of a small birthday candle provided just enough heat to stop the pipes freezing. Toilet seat was a composite material with the same thermal conductivity as a slab of granite, the trick was to spread a layer of toilet paper on top before taking a seat for as short a period as possible. Seems a long time since toilet paper was in such plentiful supply. :)

Good morning, the low is 27°F and the high will be 32. Wind SW 2 mph. 70% chance of flurries.

I got a phone call yesterday afternoon about a package at the local Purolator Courier drop spot, so I will go into town today and get it. I will just bet that it is my winter coat that I ordered last October. In this case I really do NOT think it was Purolator to blame for the delay. I am positive it was Marks Work Wear that dropped the ball. I will not be dealing with them again. Williamson-Dickies sells better stuff anyway and only takes 4 days to get to me.

Other than the town run I am going to do some energy conservation today.

Have a safe day all
