26 and a sky full of stars, going to 47.

You guys were busy while I was in the mountains yesterday.

Rich, glad to read of your activities since it must mean you are steadily improving.

Kyle, I see now why your son riding bareback wasn't his "story"...looks like being a biker attracts more "interest."

Well, Don, you sound like you were just as excited in getting snow as my wife and I are everytime we get any. It's fun, and nice to see a happy Whipper pic again.

I met a most beautiful dog yesterday on the trail...named Atlas, a color of Golden Retriever I've never seen before...English Cream. Nice owners, too. I saw some remnant snow patches on the trail, but glad it wasn't covered like your place, Don. I hiked Blackrock Summit to Trayfoot Mountain to Furnace Mountain, and an extra short spur. Met one couple that were getting ready to bushwhack from Trayfoot over to Hall Mountain. He said there used to be a trail, but not maintained any more, and told me some history of the area, since they live nearby, where Ed lives.

Yes, Buppies, prayers for our country.

23 outside this AM, heading to mid 40's.

Abandoned the log pile work yesterday and got involved in some pasture and trail work with the wife. Better than swinging an axe.

I demo'd my outhouse and chicken houses a few years back. The foundation (concrete) that was in the outhouse (high class) is now a sitting bench by the koi-less pond.

Hope all have a great day today, be safe and stay healthy my friends.

Coffee is done brewing. 26° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 31° with continued clouds. Spent 3 hours in neighbors woods cleaning out the shrubs in open areas. Felt good to be outside doing seat time. Will be doing it again soon. Have to do some work on hoses that run grapple today. They keep wanting to move into a area where they will get pinched. Could not get my Ryobi trimmer to start. Neighbor got it started with no problem. My right arm is asking why I did that to it this morning. Need to sharpen a couple of chainsaw chains. That should be enough for today.
Found what Sassy rolled in. Some Raccoon scat in lean-to.

Drew, i had to use a out house many times when I was younger. Do not miss it. Never took a picture. The Bidet I installed with GS last week has a heated seat. :cloud9::D We lived in the country. Had fuel oil as long as I can remember. That snow blower has every option except for heated seat.

Don, I saw the blue flag on computer. Could not find it on iPad. You need a telephoto lens. :ashamed:

Kyle, did kids do Angels in the Snow?

Eric, sad when they have that many that are dying. Then not have proper burial.

Rich, deer are a big problem in my area. Larger park west of me has herds of them. Drive safe.

Buckeye, good pictures of your dads tree removal/trimming. My neighbor hire a guy to take tree down that climbed like that guy. Not my thing. But I would not do it in a bucket either.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Good Morning All.

outhouse (high class) is now a sitting bench
from one kind of sitting bench to another.

Sitting on an ice cold toilet seat just doesn't sound conducive to getting things moving
My friend with the cabin in the Catskills had a fireplace and wood stove but the heat never quite made it into
the bathroom. I dreaded sitting on that ice cold oak toilet seat with the rusty hinges. Thankfully since replaced.

12F upper 20's for high mix sun and clouds for today.

Outside chores done E muffin time. :licking:
Plans for today...Grain store for critter food and putter. :confused3:

Enjoy the day all.

" I dreaded sitting on that ice cold oak toilet seat with the rusty hinges."

Than realizing there yellow jacket nest or paper wasp hive about the door after your seated.

Ah yes. Homes used to be advertised in the newspaper with words such as "3 rooms and a bath". Well, we had 4 rooms and a path. It was nice when we finally got running water in the house and great when we actually got a bathroom. Our kids never learned what it was like to take a bath in a wash tub in the middle of the kitchen floor, or to go to the outhouse with a flashlight at night.

Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 4:00AM. Areas of fog early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High 59F. Winds light and variable.
Previously foretasted rain has disappeared from the 10-day; replaced by cloudy weather.

Makita makes a power head with string trimmer and pole saw attachments, Ron. Not cheap, but would fix the issue you're having with the gas engine making your arm sore. The one I found only used one battery; it would be nice if they also make one that uses two because it would last longer between charges.

Hope the novelty of snow in Texas doesn't wear off too soon, and it all melts before it's time to drive anywhere. The Whip seems happy about it though, Don.

I spend quality time regularly in outhouses in the campgrounds. Makes you appreciate the clean smell and warm seat that also come with indoor plumbing.

The Dakar race is going on now, Kyle. Are you watching? Not looking good for last year's American winner in the bike class.

Lots of buttons and knobs on that panel, Drew. Why are there two on/off switches? Sounds like it might be pretty easy to talk your nephew out of some seat time...

Ran the new propane heater out in the garage for a few hours Saturday morning, and it works real good. But the temps here were only in the lower 50s, so it wasn't much of a challenge. It was still nice not to have cold fingers, though.:)

Glad no one was hurt and there was no damage either, Rich. Deer's gonna be sore for a few days, it sounds like.

Funny story, DF. I bet you miss the dog, but maybe not the skunk so much?

No work on the transmission yesterday, instead made tools for working on friend's final drive housing. He learned that steel takes a lot more time to drill and bore than aluminum, and I need to start looking for a boring bar that holds indexable cutters.

Got a start on modifying first two firewood pallets to be the same as the later designs; should be able to finish those today.

Craig's List add to sell big stack of moving boxes was answered by three people yesterday, after sitting ignored for several weeks. One of them can't read very well, and thought they were free. I'll get them loaded into the truck today for delivery on Wednesday.

Mailman brought the Otterbox case for the new phone yesterday, so it looks like Amazon won the race with Verizon to see which would get here first. Wow, that's a big case! Wore the belt clip around for a little while to see if I could get used to it, and it's a bit unwieldy, especially when compared to the now tiny feeling SE. More packages due in today and tomorrow, be nice if one of 'em held the glass screen protector.

The replacement foot and locking pin for the Makita reciprocating saw was delivered on Saturday, so I installed them yesterday. Both of the old parts were badly worn, so this looks like it'll be a good fix, letting me use all of the blade instead of just the first inch.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a friendly start!

Good Morning
23 outside heading to upper 30’s again. Partly cloudy with no precipitation.

Yesterday didn’t go as planned, wiring project stopped by fire stops in the walls, we’re working on a different plan of attack, probably a wireless deployment. His garage was absolutely stunning, beautiful textured epoxy floor, with lifts for stacking the classic cars. Second floor with bar, pool table, shuffleboard, video arcade and a full bath.

Almost finished at airport, got a call from the restaurant, the walk in freezer was swarming up. Turns out that the condenser compressor on the roof failed. About all I could do to help was to take a thawing cheesecake home. Hopefully get a new compressor installed today, but that will be a job for the refrigeration contractor, I’m too old to wrestle that compressor onto the roof without a hoist.

Seeing Kyle’s son on the motorcycle brings back memories from almost 60 years ago when I was the kid with the motorcycle in the neighborhood. I also remember being fearless on it. It will be interesting to see how his rear fender holds up. Mine suffered from me learning to ride wheelies.

Drew interesting that your snowblower is fly by wire, my son’s fancy new Honda still has a carburetor, but chute rotation and tilt is joystick controlled. Funny you mentioned Kerosene, I’ve got to get some for the space heater at the airport, it ran out yesterday. There are a few places around here that have it, but it’s not as common as it used to be.

Ron great to hear that you will soon have central heat again, at least you didn’t have to deal with a plumbing issue sending you to the outhouse.

Good morning! 27 now, maybe 35 later. Cloudy now, miss yesterday痴 sun.

Need to go to town this morning. We forgot some stuff yesterday.

Kyle - Cory Texter ran the Winter Throwdown this past Saturday. I was supposed to be there..... He had 397 entries, 62 heat races, 31 semis, 15 finals. It was an All Star Amateur race along with an All Star AFT race. Jarod Mees won the 450 Expert race, then won the Open Expert race on his Indian, he collected a $2500.00 bonus from Indian for the win. Guy I help got 3rd in Open Amateur. Cory was tired last night and had almost no voice....good thing we were texting to save his voice! The finals are on YouTube somewhere.

Everyone stay safe out there,

I have had good luck finding high quality tools like Kennametal at shows and tool flea markets, but have also used Shars when I need something.

Search results for: 'Boring bar'

21 going to 48 today, heavy frost and some ice fog this morning.

I was around 7 when we first had a bathroom, we had indoor plumbing before that, a hand pump on the kitchen sink. We had a honey jar with a lid in the bedrooms for nighttime emergencies. That was fun to dump and wash out every morning. We burned coal, wood and kerosene. It took it all to keep that old farmhouse warm enough to live in. When I was about 10 we moved to Chesapeake, VA to be closer to his work at the Ford plant. Our new house, which was about 30 years old, had an oil furnace, two bathrooms, an upstairs sunroom and bedrooms for all. I thought we had moved into the Crystal Palace.

24° going to near 40.

Used an outhouse in my early yrs. recall seeing pictures of ours, don’t recall having a copy in my collection. Recall peeing off the porch, especially at night. Then dad built his existing house with indoor plumbing. Grandparents had no indoor plumbing and used outhouse up till they passed around 1988. Got a pic of that one somewhere.

Haven’t bought kerosene in years, got a jug just for it, and a heater not used in years.

Need to get going, slow start means stay at work late.

I guess My brother did get to the tree cutting party while the tree guy was hanging by ropes cutting the tree limb over the house. He got a drone video, but was too far up to see much action.

Good morning! 33˚F all night long makes for a very slow melt. We still have plenty of snow on the grass but the street snow has melted. All schools are closed for a snow day - not, because of the covid they still have to log in. The city and the neighborhood facilities are closed till noon. Wife still has her ZOOM Spanish class and I need to get some kale and broccoli from the garden.

The metal rods for the clothes dryer moister control came in and I installed them and that was the problem, dryer is fixed. The old ones were not conducting the current in the space between them and the dryer was thinking the clothes were dry when they were not. Finding the right u-tube took more time than the fix.

My Mothers parents had an outhouse and my father parents had indoor plumbing. Guess which ones saw the grandkids more.

Wrong, the outhouse grandparents also had a horse and later a minibike.

   / Good morning!!!! #125,396
this would make a fun separate thread, but have any outhouse pictures?
this was before ours got rehabbed, came back with a door, all fixed with a moon crescent on it, and my father used it to store garden tools.

Hope he moved it from above the "pit" before the rehab Drew.

Good morning, 26 going up to 41 and sunny
Got the tree outside and ready to cut and put in the fire pit. Maybe get to that today.
Did a Thai red curry with onions peppers and Bok Choy, came out good, kid even ate the greens.

LS - I spoke too soon, had first migraine in probably a year yesterday, not fun.
Had to do Ibuprofen - which means can't get cut as on anti-coagulating medicine :-(
Kyle- that gift keeps giving,
Ron - new heat in site- heres hoping Tuesday is the day!
RichB1-glad you can get some hours in at a slower pace- Don;t push too hard so you recover-Glad Deer and car not damaged too much. Don't think you need this type of excitement
RNG - sounds like a great finish to a good Sunday!
TXDon - that's quite a bit of snow-
Drew- if you need firewood, I have plenty for you here, free pickup for ya!

We had an outhouse in MA, in the front of the barn, very classy!

Stay safe and be well

25°F and cloudy this morning, going up to 37° today. Shooting up into the mid-50s this week, before dropping back to the 30s for the weekend.

Weekend was cold a dreary here, with some occasional snow flurries. Got nothing done outside the house, but then there wasn't much to do anyway.

Happy (belated) birthday, RS.

My Mother grew up in an old farmhouse with no indoor plumbing. I remember my Grandparents' old house and outhouse from the early '70s. Kitchen was "out back," and had a wood stove. There was a fireplace in the center of the house for heat, and the outhouse was a long cold walk. The house was in a serious state of disrepair, and they eventually bought a single wide mobile home and placed it between the house and the outhouse. The old house was just used for storage after that. It was the first time they'd ever had indoor plumbing. No more carrying water from the well. I didn't miss the outhouse at all.

   / Good morning!!!! #125,399
Ken, thanks for the offer. I'll let you know if I have something to burn it in.
Rick, yes, it was moved about thirty feet away closer to the house.

bought a ready made "kit" on sale for a round roast and veggies/potatoes for the instapot.
Going to add some extra red potatoes I bought today as well as a few more onions and a big yellow pepper.
Time to fire that up. I need to get some cheap blended red wine to cook with.
That means a trip to the PA wine store tomorrow.

Good morning. It was 33° (feels like 26°) this morning and forecast is 41° this afternoon. The snow line .. got close to us last evening but, all we ended up with was a bit of sleet.

Haven't checked rain gauges yet but .. we'd had a bit over 1" by noon yesterday so guessing total of 1 1/2-2".

It supposed to be 27° here, in the morning .. qthen a steady warmup over following 10 days or so.

Today will be more shop time and continue working on reorganizing quarters. Tractors and even Polaris will stay on ranch roads and driveways for at least a day or two. We had a severely dry fall / early winter but, almost 5" of rain over last two weeks making pastures "squishy".

My grandparent's ranch house, in the 1950's, had water to the kitchen sink (hand pump) but no bathrooms. At that time the outhouse was it and chamber pots for winter nights. They did an update in the early 1960's and I still have that hand pump, and the larger one that was outside, in the shop. Eventually they will be refurbished / powder coated .. for some "garden art".

Hope everyone has a great start to your week.

Prayers to all.
