Good morning!!!!

Winter in Texas. Very pretty.
I'm thinking of all those snowbirding folks in their motorhomes and campers hoping they
brought their awnings in.

Got gas for the car over in NJ and had a nice visit with my nephew on his new farm off outside of Lahaska. Very private, small country road, about 50 acres.
Dead ash trees everywhere, he is working his tractor and grapple on it but it looks like he has real job security there. He has planted a fruit orchard which I'm looking
forward to helping him prune. Big barn, Kioti something inside, pool, he has a lot to maintain and costs him 250 bucks a week to mow it. Which due to his very successful investment firm
he doesn't bat an eye at. We both got our CFP designations at the same time. I went into the lower paid analytical planning side and he went into the high end wealth management side.
Which is why he can afford the big farm and I'm in a rental... No complaints, no regrets. Glad he did well.

Nice sunny day out for once.
I think I'll put the snowblower out in the sun and then put a coat of polish on it.
I already sprayed silicone in the auger and chutes.
Get it all nice and shiny so it can sit there and do nothing.
I also have to finish cleaning out the car so I can get it detailed next week.
I'll really miss that french fry between the seat. Was getting kind of attached to it. ;)

They're all down in the Rio Grande Valley where it's in the balmy mid 50's today.

Our new company president (helped him to get hired 20+ years ago) got involved with my sick leave situation. Seems he has some pet projects involving warranty/quality reports and technical training he wants done. Starting tomorrow, the time report will show 2 work days, 3 sick days each week. All he wants is I do 16 hours of work/week at my own schedule/pace. He doesn稚 want me involved in the day to day grind. I am getting bored and I like the projects that have been presented. And I don稚 have to be on the phone with people not smart enough to actually check a fuse!

That IS a good boss. One worth being loyal to.

I had our dogs get into something. Instant bath, then they show back up stinking again.

Sat out there for a while watching them. Saw one of them sniff and assume the pre-roll position.

I was instantly up, yelling and headed his way Apparently i clipped a crayfish with the mower and they thought that was the best thing to roll in

Nothing worse then the smell of rotten shell fish.

WE HAVE SNOW!!!!
32˚F
and it is sticking

Nice damp packing snow? Good for snowball fights and snow forts.

Awhile back Dad got a very high $2500 estimate to cut the large dead ash tree in his yard that was in danger of falling on his car and taking out electric lines to the barns. The guy who hunts on him said, I know a guy who used to work for tree company. He cut it yesterday for $400. I figured he would cut from the ground, but he climbed it with spikes, took out 2 largest tops, came down lower and cut another section. Turns out the inside of the tree was still good. From the outside it looked real bad.
He also climbed maple by the house and took down a limb growing out over the house which was in his original quote.
Dad gave him $100 extra. Was well worth the money. Pics from my sisters video. First is a top coming down.

By the time my brother got there they were almost done. He cut up a pickup load for firewood. The other guy that hunts also helped with picking up limbs. Nice that the guys he let’s hunt helps him out. Wished I could have been there.
This is the bottom.

that's what the local plumbing company charges, that's what Audi charges per hour to work on my car.
Amazing isn't it...
RV place charged 150, and 175 per hour for generators.
Attorney charges 350.
if it makes your wife smile? Priceless.

I was heading to the garden for some kale and broccoli but the snow is not melting on the roads so I'll make pecan shortbread cookies instead.
The snow is still coming down steadily and we have about an inch accumulated. It's getting closer to Kyle, his kids will love it.

I've told this story before. But it's always good for a laugh.

Our late miniature dachshund used to run a tight ship when it came to critters in the yard. Except when it came to skunks.

When it came to the skunk hanging out in the yard, the darn dog would try to sniff it's butt!!!

Darn dog kept getting sprayed and my wife and I were at our wits end on it. So one morning, the dogs started going nuts. Wife lets them out and realized the skunk was back. So she woke me up.

I grabbed the spot light and pistol and headed out to investigate. What I witnessed was priceless.

Darn dog was creeping up behind the skunk, trying to get a sniff. Wasn't in attack mode. So the only thing I could figure is the skunk was a female.

Well he gets to within a couple feet of the skunk. Skunk lifts it's tail, looks back and takes aim. At this point, I'm out of there and get back out of the line of fire.

Skunk sprays the dog right in the eyes. Dog starts fish flopping in the yard rubbing it's face in the grass and makes a mad dash for his kiddy pool.

Dog about drowns himself in the kiddy pool washing it's eyes out in the water.

Dog recovers finally, then goes back for another sniff

I could never get a safe shot off at the skunk. So finally I picked up some critter ridder granules from tractor supply and blew it under the sun porch that the skunk was using for shelter, and it finally moved on.

I say you let whipper go run on the coarse....if the non existent golfers complain...tell them you saw the "wolf" too!

No snow here, it sleeted and snowed in town a bit as we got out of church, but nothing at the home front yet.

$110 / he is way way cheaper than the first quote dad got. The guy took about 3 hrs, so with travel that was about his rate.
