I have also read anywhere from 50% to 70% effective with only the first injection.

I've read the same thing. I also read somewhere in the past that it takes nearly a month after the second shot to get to the full immunity, but somewhere I recently read it only takes a week after the second shot.:confused3:

Good morning! I have no idea what the temp is since I simply didn稚 check. Weather Bug predicts 38 and partly cloudy today. Sun is shining.

Slept in this morning. Was nice to sleep in and wake up to the wife having the wood burner going strong! Breakfast is done. Not sure what I am gonna get into today.

Found out yesterday 2 friends had Covid same time as I did. One was mild, other was pretty rough. Both are younger, the one who had it bad works out and is very active with no other health issues. He was down for 3 weeks. He still is having a lot of after effects.

Everyone stay safe out there!

If some states .. are having "issues" getting vaccine distributed and into arms .. it would seem that "flooding the states" with all available vaccine .. is counter intuitive and could result in millions unable to get their second dose. The present federal plan .. to reserve some vaccine for a second dose seems .. reasonable.
...

None of us have the data to make a call on this possible action of distribution. However, second hand experience within my state, shows vaccines available, but being held for second dose. In the meanwhile, more people become infected, while we wait to give the first dosers the second dose. And people actually want the vaccine.

I'd rather be surrounded by people who are 50-70 percent inoculated than by a group that is zero.

But this experience is so new, I am sure the scientists and social engineers are working the numbers trying to figure out the best way forward.

@ daugen... haha. Glad you are thinking of me in shorts and t shirt while you are rugged up clearing snow. LOL.
Actually we are having some beautiful rain lately. La Nina has broken our drought..
Last good rain was in 2011 and 2012 to the day when our local village was swept away by flooding. My tractor was bogged so I was no help. Roads were out so we couldn't go anywhere. No power. Lost all our food when we lost power. We got pretty hungry back then. 36 lives lost in total. 12 from the village.

Queenslanders share their memories of the 211 floods on tenth anniversary of disaster - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

But, back to now, still shorts and t shirts even now in the 'cooler' weather. Soak it up baby !!

The truck eats transmissions once a year. Both the dealer and I....need to figure out a way out of this.

It's called a Ford. :) (Although I drive a Tundra, thought it would be more fun to say Ford.) I read this week that GM (Sierra and Silverado) out sold Ford for the first time in a long while). I hope you find what is wrong with yours and get it fixed.

I know this isn't a perfect analogy, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get behind the wheel of a car if the owner said the brakes work 50 to 70% of the time. Also, I feel for the many folks that are putting themselves at risk everyday of catching the C. virus by being our doctors, nurses, and police, among many other jobs. I'd like them to get protected to the max, and most others can take fewer risks until they get the shots. I know there are exceptions.

Good Morning!!!! 49F @ 5:45AM. Sun and clouds mixed. High near 60F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
Only 0.02" of rain yesterday morning, then sunny afternoon. No more rain in the 10-day.

What passes for news these days is really an editorial. What ever happened to journalism and reporting facts? 1984 has arrived, but it's 37 years late. Censorship is a very slippery slope in the same perilous direction. I'm not a religious man, but I agree with Buppies: Prayers for our country.

Extension cord not long enough to reach the refrigerator in dead shop, Rick? Why not fork the fridge over to where there's power? Or put it on a genny for a few hours in the morning and evening until you can snag a breaker. Hope the bill's not too bad.

Back in '14 I took three swings with a splitting maul and went to Home Depot and bought a gas powered splitter. You're a better man than I, Mike!
Back in the '80s, BMW was having similar issues with gearboxes in its new K-bikes. Turns out some of the bell housings were not machined properly, causing a misalignment of the engine crank and transmission input shaft. The transmission cried uncle first. They ate a lot of transmissions before they figured that one out. That MedCram video I linked yesterday discussed efficacy, and there's no clinical trial data on one shot only or delaying a second shot past the two or three weeks that was used in the trials. So there's no clinically backed trial data to tell us what will happen if authorities deviate from what was done in the trials. Worst case scenario is that delaying, only giving one injection, or giving half an injection won't kill the virus, and it adapts and becomes immune to the vaccine. I wouldn't want to have to make that decision for millions of people.

Amazing detail in that female cardinal shot, Ron. Keep 'em comin'!

Here's a link to an online movie format converter, Drew. I've never used it, but if it doesn't work, google knows about a lot of other ones. It'll be 70F here next week. So much for winter. Sounds like there's going to be a new hot tub in your near future. Mine, too, if the pain mitigation part is that good. Please keep us in the loop when you figure out which one to get, OK? In the mean time, doesn't your Audi have heated seats?

Hope they get the kinks worked out of your insurance provider, Bird. My company changed pension plan administrators this month and I was worried about their credit rating. Turns out it's better for the new one than the old one, and the new website seems to work just fine. So not all change is bad (just most of it:laughing:).

Yesterday I watched a couple crows give a hard time to one of the buzzards that roost around here. They'll do the same to hawks and eagles. Seems like there's a pecking order both up and down the scale.

Hope the cut-overs continue to go smoothly, Ken. Gotta be a nervous time for you and your team.

Speaking of teams, it sounds like your old one was a bunch of real fine characters, Eric. You fit right in.:D:laughing:

I tried to sign up for Parlor, but couldn't figure out how to do it with out surrendering my cell phone number. Not gonna do it. Those of you worried about Apple/Google pulling the app can just access it through the web browser on the phone. I do that with Facebook because their app is a security risk.

Great news in your growing string of mechanical conquests, Kyle. Hope some of that magic rubs off on me today. I'm gonna try to put that transmission back together after I cut the circlip groove.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

I saw it written recently that;

“1984 was intended .. to be a warning .. not a guide.”

I went back and edited my post regarding Parler, it’s still on apple site, and just maybe I didn’t install it, maybe old timers disease struck again. I do not use the FB app on my phone because it is so intrusive on privacy. It’s bad enough on the web, but I sure don’t need them tracking my location or have access to ALL my photos.
Opened gasbuddy app last night, and it tried to force me to agree that they could share my data, including location to all their vendors. They said you can opt out later, No thanks.
1984 is indeed here now, they are using face recognition to identify people, and if you have any pics in the cloud, I’m sure they have access to all of them.
