Good morning!!!!

Good evening all. 72F this morning, still wind, and brief overcast. Sky cleared off, wind became moderate from south, and clear sky. Bike rid this morning, lunch nap then out to dinner :)

Yesterday turned out to be a dull day. Although there was no heavy rain, just an occasional drizzle, the threat was constantly there and my list of things to do on a dry day is no shorter. Maybe today ...

At least my wife got to play with her new "patio brush", a short length of wire brush on a long handle that she hoped would easily remove moss from the mortar between the slabs on the patio. It was certainly better exercise for her than me blasting it off with the jet washer, though probably not quite as fast or effective. Fortunately we have been married long enough for me to sometimes know when to say nothing ;). I followed faithfully behind with an ordinary bristle brush and shovel, with the dog playing at attacking my brush and it turned out to be quite a pleasant way to pass an afternoon together.

David, thanks for showing the filter pics. I like the simplicity of your first flush pipe. Can I ask, what size is the flush pipe drain hole and do you have a mesh inside to stop the exit getting clogged up with debris ?
Before we were connected to the town water system, our water for washing came from a barn roof. The intake often got filled in winter with leaves from a big oak tree and once when I cleaned it out I found a deceased owl.

Poured first cup of coffee. 58° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 89° with sunny skies. Got cellar door paint job completed yesterday. Going to start cleanup of pole barn today. 72" MMM mower for Kubota has been setting on floor all year. I have a platform shelf built for it. But it is full of stuff that need to be thrown away or store in proper location. I will get started on that project today. Some NASCAR in afternoon.
Good Morning All.

Good morning all, 55 here this morning headed to 85. Got nothing on my list done yesterday either Eric. Wife's nephews came and helped us move some furniture and then stayed and talked for a long time. They played and sang to the boy and went to worship team practice. Nice visit and a lot done. Will try to have an easy day today, we will see.

Have a great day. Ed

58 here, too...going to 86. Working on a second cup of coffee.

Had a nice day yesterday visiting the Henricus Historical Park...lesser known settlement of 1611...Citie of Henricus...westward expansion from Jamestown...this is where Pocahontas was Baptized...site of first hospital in the new world and the first chartered college. Only a few miles from Interstate 95 on a bluff above the James River. Yesterday was one of their Publick Days, with many reenactors and interpreters on site. They also sailed the Godspeed up from Jamestown. Taking a tour of the ship made we wonder, once again, how did they get so many people across the ocean on that little boat and navigate as well as they did?

Then went to the Cruise In car show on the way home...so many old Mustangs, Chevelles, Model As, and even a Henry.

66 going to 86 today, another nice day.
Got up and was very sore this morning, need to cool it today.
Seems my tractor wax job is reminding me of sore parts....

I have an awful problem with losing things. Well, I don't lose them, I put glasses and objects down where I can't remember where I put them.
And in a full barn with work projects everywhere, well easy to lose, even temporarily. Found my sun glasses yesterday after ten minutes of looking, found them on the band saw I wasn't even using. I must have taken them off coming into woodshop to sharpen mower blades but for sure didn't remember. Sound familiar to anyone? Clearly a sign of age.

Well, once in a while the table turns, and yesterday was a really marvelous day. I found something I was missing, that I needed very badly.
As I have mentioned I have been going through can after can of Rustoleum red paint trying to find an orange red that matches Gravely red, think Kubota with almost no orange left. I now have 8 cans of red paint, none of them I liked. Something is sure going to get painted bright red with that paint...

In my home garage I had a sheet over one area, and I had to get in there for something.
Well, ta da....there it was, after all the time hunting around for it.
A plastic container with 18, I repeat 18 cans of oem Gravely red paint.
I used to make a lot of trips to the local Gravely dealer that had a huge boneyard out back.
My wife was sick and I needed time out of the house; what better to look at old machinery and wonder
if I could "bring it back". Each visit I would pick up two or three cans of rattle paint and I stored them away
for this mower project, which never got off the ground until now. And then I moved and the paint disappeared.

It was like finding caviar and champagne. What a grin I had on my face for half an hour. Yeah!
and all the cans rattled just fine. Unfortunately fairly thin paint, at least it doesn't clog easily.

59 high of 87 today will take the day as it comes

Two deer playing in back yard late yesterday afternoon interesting to watch. Lots of acorns for them to eat but mast on the small side. Leaves are beginning to fall more numerous now but not very colorful. Interesting to see the restocking of elk to far SW Va is so far successful a Very beautiful animal that has been long gone from these parts

Glad you found the paint. :cool2: But 18 cans. Your Kubota better go in hiding. :D

I think seeing an elk, or a moose, would be seriously cool.
Yet another hazard for the road, which I will not forget after hitting a bear with my truck.
Maybe they are smarter than deer, of course that would not take much.
