Wow... turns out we have perfect soil and drainage.

So did we, but the eco **** in charge was basically forcing any one building in the county to have a mound. Originally they told me I needed a three foot mound, which would have been at least four feet tall and twenty feet wider and longer and cost almost $20k. I threatened to sue, and they told me I could do one foot if I’d basically go away. I was in a time bind. My land perked perfectly, they said they found gray streaks indicating water had been that high sometime.

Good morning! , missed a few days, lots to get caught up on.....

My son did a video of the Christmas lights at his house (green and white lights) and our cottage (red and white lights). Here is a link:

Our 2020 Christmas Lights! Merry Christmas Everyone! - YouTube

Needed to do some errands this morning..... spent a lot of time waiting in lines.... 45 minutes at Wally World (at 6:10 am), 30 minutes in line at the PO, 15 minutes in line at the bank.... I am tired of waiting in line..... 5 hours of the day gone already....

I have had intermittent shop time, going out there right now.... I will catch up later!

Is that Clark Griswold’s house?

Looks very nice!

Good evening all. 36 for the start, clear sky, light breeze. Light wind day, clear sky, and high temp was 70F. 2 more days in 70's then rain and more seasonable temps. Lost a STL friend to cancer yesterday. Had been fighting it for years, good mechanic and fun to be with. Slow start, changed back to Volagi from Trek, town run for shopping, bike rid and nap when I got back.
Covid update: Cooke 1310 confirmed cases, 181 active cases, Montague 853 confirmed cases, 100 active cases, Grayson 4816 confirmed cases, 403 active cases, local 12 active cases.
David makes you wonder doesn't it?
Eric have fun with the bread experiment
Bill glad trip went well, nice to see guy get pulled over :)
Drew hope blood test goes well, pics of your creations wood and apple :)
Mike sorry about the eldest issues. Must have been interesting working with crew chief for Yeager
Thomas doesn't sound like you can do much outdoors anyway.
Paul did not sound like a dream, more like nightmare.
Don that sounds worse than running a saw, hope some of that is seat time!
Ron, there are several carts with door frame in the curtains, if you need to get in and out a lot. I leave the driver side up till really needed. Cool pic
Paul not many men were as good as they thought they were.
Billy thanks for the compliment, the boss likes then a lot :)
Buppies, thanks
RNG sorry to hear about Covid restrictions, wonder if leaking muffler has messed with van like cold starting? Sounds like oil pan is progressing now
Randy neat story on Dick Cole
Ken thanks for the compliment
Rick are they made at you for sell to the neighbors from ****?
PJ when it warms up you will see more eggs. Thanks for the compliment
Mike sorry about the loss of your septic and no grandfathering
Ted thank for the heads up on son's video, bummer about the lines. Here few lines before noon. I see both houses made the editing cut.
Randy interesting concept
RS sounds like the remodel is about to really get going. She hasn't figured out you are "maintenance" yet?
Dennis will try to be more clear when I reply to you :)
Steppe sounds like a very reasonable price.
Mike that is disgusting, wonder who came up with that?
Dennis 12 hour is too long!
Randy there is one house 6 miles from here that has more light than the 2 house put together. He starts putting them up in September!
prayers for all, especially Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, David(moss)/remodel, RNG/fire, Ron/hearing/son, Jim/sister & family, Phil/wife's eyes, and Country
stay safe and healthy you all.

32F and cloudy @ 23:00, headed down to an overnight low of 31F.

Tube feeders, squirrel feeder and deer feeder refilled, hopper feeder still had some in it ... will refill tomorrow. Cats all fed.

Tank on old toilet throughly cleaned and de-rusted ...

Took wheel off two-wheeler so I can get a tube put in it tomorrow.

Also general cleaning around the house.

Home Depot order finalized and placed, along with an Amazon order for a carbide-tipped jigsaw blade for cutting Wonder Board.

Now working on trying to get exact, or at least fairly close, totals on trim tile before I place the order ... which involves figuring out the exact pattern that I'm going to use ... :confused2:

Was tempted but didn't try to use the HF 25% off coupon on the Diamond Back 7" tile saw before it expired.

That would have conceivably taken it down to $209.25 ... which is a good deal I suppose ... except for the fact that the RIGID from The Depot: 1. includes a stand which the HF saw does not (additional $60 bucks for the HF stand, which at least is a rolling stand, unlike The Depot's), and 2. potentially includes the Lifetime Warranty. I noticed tonight that HF has knocked off $30 off the price taking it down to $249.

Still $3 higher than The Depot's current price of $246 ... they'd going to need to do better ... :D

(Correction: price on RIGID @ The Depot is actually $269 ... not $246 ... :confused2:)

Hope everyone had a great day ...

FWIW, RS. I parked the HF tile saw over a pair of Black'n'Decker plastic saw horses and some 2x4s, and it worked out great. Unlike a dedicated saw stand, the 'horses have been used for many other things since...

Good morning, no frosty start for the first time in a week and no rain expected until teatime. Now baking is over I can risk getting my hands dirty outside today.

Thomas, you were right about how good fresh bread smells, I had almost forgotten that.

Mostly, sorry you lost your STL friend.

Alien, hope you can get out prospecting again before too long. I always think it's a shame that gold is so rare as it is such a useful metal. Imagine living in a world where it was so common that it could be used for drinks cans, wheel balancing, or even tractor counter weights. What a shiny place that would be !

Loudoun, Fairfax, PG? What is your zoning? Have you looked up your soil types on the US Soil Survey?

Fauquier....soil is OK. Contouring and plot placement are the issues. I am trying to stay conventional, no pumps and low cost.

28 outside. Heading to upper 40's today. Chance of rain.

Mostly, sorry for your loss.

Will try and get the finances in order today for all the stuff going on. Did not expect the retirement account to deal with the major events unfolding. In my fantasy life it was for the beach house, travel adventures and my old Chevy. But as the wife said, we can always sell the place. It's just bad timing I keep saying. Had the place looking good, now I have to tear it up for more plumbing. Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....

Ok. reset.

Hope all have a great day today. Be safe and stay healthy.

good morning all.
chilly 29 going up to 40 today in clouds and maybe a snow flurry.

I need to call the garage door opener guy who was supposed to install this week. Didn't want to hound him but
I'm getting tired of lifting that door. Hopefully he can come tomorrow.

Mostly sorry about loss of friend and mechanic. As we get older, this becomes sadly common.

A quiet day planned, need to remember to take trash out to end of lane, cans roll pretty easily on frozen gravel.

And of course the unwanted, just can't kill it HF order sending me a second 12 inch mitre saw came through, guy didn't even come to door, dumped
package out in driveway which is where I had to struggle with it to get it in back of car. Not sure if I'm going to UPS or their store, quiet day so I have time for both

now that I'm using 12 inch boards, glad I got the bigger saw, handles the wider boards just fine

I overcooked the fruit and didn't have enough liquid in it (not enough of that phony gelatine...) but it still tasted good. Next time I need to cover it with foil and add more juice

Bread looks delicious. A friends FIL baked bread every day, whether they needed it or not. When asked why he always made bread, he replied that kneading the dough was the best way to clean his hands after gardening.
