Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 4:00AM. Abundant sunshine. High around 65F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Now back to no rain in the 10-day forecast again.:confused2: Weather guessers just can't seem to make up their mind.
Despite all our differences, challenges, and problems, we still have an awful lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving day. I'll be one of those missing the traditional turkey dinner, having decided to play it safe and not travel or meet with friends or family this year. But I'll make a few phone calls to catch up with friends I haven't talked to in a while, probably sharing plans for a hopefully better new year.
Eric, I got on a kick a while back and purchased three pliers type oil filter wrenches, having been in your situation one too many times before.
One uses a ViseGrip type locking mechanism. The other two are just
small and large versions of adjustable pliers. I think all of them were suggested here, and now that I have them, I'm pretty sure I'll never have another stuck oil filter to try them out on. Even if these turn out not to work, there's still the old dodge of hammering an old screwdriver through the filter body to use as a handle to turn it. After first piercing a hole in the bottom to let the oil in there drain out, right?
Love the look of your bird houses, Drew. Nice and substantial with that thick wood and simple lines. Will you stain or paint them, or follow RS's lead and use something like BLO on them?
You knocked that little desk out pretty quickly, Ted. Very clever design, too. And that hard top stool will probably ensure there's little dawdling on the way to completing the lessons!
Probably a good idea to keep a spare nut or two in with the chainsaw wrench and screwdriver, huh, Don? All my saws are from Stihl, and I'd be surprised if it wasn't a case of one nut fits all.
Mr. Squirrel seems intent on his next meal, Ron. Another great shot!
Sorry to hear about the accident, Paul, but glad you've made a recovery. Had my share of similar experiences, and will probably hang up my helmet after the next one if there ever is one. If the memory isn't too painful, mind sharing what you were riding, and if you've rebuilt it?
Got some more time in on the white bike yesterday, altering some rectifier mounts and getting a new alternator installed. Had a good McMaster-Car experience, too. Placed an order for some bolts around noon, then found that the socket head cap screws I had on hand for the rectifier were too short. Sent them a note asking to tack some onto the order I'd made, and got a response in just a couple minutes. That in itself was surprising, as most companies aren't very responsive to electronic communications. But the fella on the other end said he'd already shipped the first order, but would send the screws out with free shipping, and everything would likely arrive on Friday. That's the kind of customer service you don't see very often these days, and why I don't mind paying a little more for it. But in this case M-C actually saved me quite a lot of money. The local Fastenal had what I needed in stock, but I'd have had to drive a half hour each way to get it, and their price was four times what M-C charged.
Hope everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving has a good one.
Hang in there, Friday's comin'!
