Good Morning!!!! 45F @ 4:00AM. Abundant sunshine. High around 65F. Winds NNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Now back to no rain in the 10-day forecast again.:confused2: Weather guessers just can't seem to make up their mind.

Despite all our differences, challenges, and problems, we still have an awful lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving day. I'll be one of those missing the traditional turkey dinner, having decided to play it safe and not travel or meet with friends or family this year. But I'll make a few phone calls to catch up with friends I haven't talked to in a while, probably sharing plans for a hopefully better new year.

Eric, I got on a kick a while back and purchased three pliers type oil filter wrenches, having been in your situation one too many times before. One uses a ViseGrip type locking mechanism. The other two are just small and large versions of adjustable pliers. I think all of them were suggested here, and now that I have them, I'm pretty sure I'll never have another stuck oil filter to try them out on. Even if these turn out not to work, there's still the old dodge of hammering an old screwdriver through the filter body to use as a handle to turn it. After first piercing a hole in the bottom to let the oil in there drain out, right?

Love the look of your bird houses, Drew. Nice and substantial with that thick wood and simple lines. Will you stain or paint them, or follow RS's lead and use something like BLO on them?

You knocked that little desk out pretty quickly, Ted. Very clever design, too. And that hard top stool will probably ensure there's little dawdling on the way to completing the lessons!

Probably a good idea to keep a spare nut or two in with the chainsaw wrench and screwdriver, huh, Don? All my saws are from Stihl, and I'd be surprised if it wasn't a case of one nut fits all.

Mr. Squirrel seems intent on his next meal, Ron. Another great shot!

Sorry to hear about the accident, Paul, but glad you've made a recovery. Had my share of similar experiences, and will probably hang up my helmet after the next one if there ever is one. If the memory isn't too painful, mind sharing what you were riding, and if you've rebuilt it?

Got some more time in on the white bike yesterday, altering some rectifier mounts and getting a new alternator installed. Had a good McMaster-Car experience, too. Placed an order for some bolts around noon, then found that the socket head cap screws I had on hand for the rectifier were too short. Sent them a note asking to tack some onto the order I'd made, and got a response in just a couple minutes. That in itself was surprising, as most companies aren't very responsive to electronic communications. But the fella on the other end said he'd already shipped the first order, but would send the screws out with free shipping, and everything would likely arrive on Friday. That's the kind of customer service you don't see very often these days, and why I don't mind paying a little more for it. But in this case M-C actually saved me quite a lot of money. The local Fastenal had what I needed in stock, but I'd have had to drive a half hour each way to get it, and their price was four times what M-C charged.

Hope everyone that celebrates Thanksgiving has a good one.

Hang in there, Friday's comin'!

Rip, we hiked up Bearfence Mtn about a year ago...nice boulders. BEF, Rocky Mountain is off from MP77...it's confusing since there is also a Rocky Mount mountain, and a Rockytop nearby. There's also a Lewis Mountain and a Lewis Peak...who was in charge of naming?

Don, hope you find your nut.

Maybe Ron’s squirrel can find the nut?

Didn’t realize so many similar names on skyline. Wish I could hike some. I sometime think about retiring near Waynesboro, so I can hike in the mountains.

riptides.
"Time to recover the critter cam from the barn. I'll bet it is a racoon chasing all the cats out."
-------------------------------
And the mysterious guest is ?????

Nothing on the trail cam, except the barn cats coming and going. Two nights in a row.

Happy Thanksgiving all.
Rain and 62 now, 68 later.
We are having our dinner Saturday so today will be a prep day.

Popgadget, I also spent a lot of 2019 in the hospital and rehab, but nothing as exciting as crashing my bike.

This year take a look around the table and soak it all in, because next year could bring an empty chair, maybe even yours. Appreciate what we have.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

54°. We got .01” of rain last night.

Wife put the turkey in oven at around 4:30 this morning and came back to bed. Will eat around 2.

Wife still has back hurting her.

Fire whistle going off, not a good day for someone.

Pop gadget, I too spent half of 2019 in hospital and rehab for a disease, and am thankful it wasn’t this year with CV to worry about.

Well, we had a couple morning mimosas...so, I'm not as bad off as the squirrel in the previous post, but a nice buzz...
Stepdaughter had two as well...she decided to lie down for a while...definitely a none-hacker...

Must have been somewhat icy this morning...saw two trucks spreading salt. Glad today isn't a work day!!

Been up since my alarm went off at 0315...think I'll lie back down for a while

I have had motorcycles since I was 12, but as they have improved in performance, the roads and other drivers have not.

Because of that I chose a Harley for a project. They always impressed me with how crude and poor performing they were. In other words just what I needed to save me from myself.

They don’t accelerate, turn or stop well, so there would be no temptation to put myself in harms way.

I found a pretty much unmolested 74 sportster that hadn’t run in 25 years, literally in a barn. It was a fun project, and I enjoyed it immensely.

It came to an end when I was riding through a small town doing about 30 when an SUV coming the other way abruptly crossed into my lane, hitting me almost head on.

I was wearing leathers and a good helmet and gloves so all my injuries were internal.
10 ribs, hip, clavicle and scapula as well as collapsing both lungs.

I still have a old trials bike that I putter around here on, but after more than 50 years of injury free riding, I’m done with street bikes.

Imagine how much force it took to pull the top triple clamp apart like that. The frame was bent and the engine case was cracked as well, so I elected not to buy it back from Haggerty.
