MidWest is having awful times with Covid

In New Mexico, where health officials have sounded the alarm for weeks over a Covid-19 crisis, the daily number of Covid-19 deaths hit a record high. Hospitalizations have shot up by 260% in the last month, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said, and health officials added they expect to run out of general hospital beds "in a matter of days."
The governor said the state is "not trending anywhere in the right direction" and urged residents to follow public health guidance aimed at curbing the spread of the virus.
"If we don't do them, more drastic decision making will occur, and we will have a horrible November and a dramatically bad December," the governor said.
Looks like Gallup County has it worst, the whole Arizona border area is bad news

Good morning! 61˚F heading to the high 70s, cloudy.

Eric I can blame the angler fish for the hutch. The fish took the place where grandma's tea set was displayed so now it is in the hutch that sits on top of the server which we also had to buy also to put the hutch on.

Yes RNG I kept my air compressor when I moved, and keep the air pressure right in the tires. Which reminds me with the cool weather the tires probably need a few pounds, (air not money Eric).

Balmy 51F now upper 60's for high sun cloud mix kinda day.

Outside chores done E muffin time.

Had interesting watch last evening Boo show up for her snack also her brother,brother always seems to get into something by that I mean takes/steals,yesterday I took down the wind chimes for the year by the shed door but with the wind chimes in places no bear would go near the shed,last evening brother bear lay in front of the door pawing the bars in front of door opening making like whining and moaning sound trying to figure out how to get in,little over an hour later Boo headed back into the woods also her brother guess I put the wind chimes back up today.

Plans for today...take Mrs. grocery shopping she plans to stock for the coming months been a while $$$'s,if I get to the call it will be good critter food pick up,work on my outside thing to do list.

Apparently we've already had our high temperature for the day, and the winds picking up outside tell me the front is here. So long, Indian summer

The forecasted ran and snow will likely not make it here. Partly cloudy seems the best we can do.

After hearing about all the leg cramp remedies, I feel well prepared if I ever get any, and relieved that so far they haven't been a problem.:laughing::yuck:

Got everything sanded yesterday morning, took an early lunch, then spent the rest of the day spraying paint. Eight coats total, almost wore out my right arm. The Pearl finish required a special undercoat, so two quarts at a shockingly high $165 each. And probably that much again for the primer and clear coats. No wonder your body work quotes were so high, Buppies!

Took three tries to post a photo this morning, as TBN doesn't seem to be cooperating this morning.

Yesterday's e-mail said the T-Mobile LTE modem would be here today, and maybe lay some fiberglass under the cracked areas of the fairing, now that I can see them so clearly.

Ron, glad you got a new ear Dr. Hope things get better. There was a section of the Appalachian Trail I hiked yesterday that was the quietest place I can remember being in a long time...no wind rattling the trees, no far off sounds of cars or jets or even birds singing. It was wonderfully serene, but also reminded me of my tinnitus as I listened to the soft chirps of my crickets. Earlier on the trail back down from the top of Hightop Peak, I talked with some wonderful folks...a couple of thru hikers doing the entire AT in Shenandoah (about 105 miles), a young couple with a Brittany from Massachusetts (we used to raise them), an older couple from PA, and 3 retiree couples that turned out to live just 10 miles from me. Spent about an hour just chatting with all of them at different points along the trail. Most folks are super friendly.

60 degrees going for a sunny 76 today; doesn't hardly seem like Winter, but I still like it. But what I DON'T like is problems with a computer printer. It's an HP Envy 5660 only 4 years old this month and I guess for nearly a year I've been getting emails from HP telling me that there is no service for this obsolete model and I should buy a new printer.

But I figured as long as it's working, why change. It uses a tri-color HP 62 print cartridge and a black HP 62 cartridge. I've always kept spares on hand to change as needed. Well, I bought two new cartridges yesterday to have when needed, AND I installed the two that I've had on hand since March. No matter what I did, it just kept refusing to work and saying a cartridge was improperly installed. So I finally figured out that it was the black ink cartridge, so I opened the packaging on the new one; same result. Now it's simple to replace the ink in this thing and I don't see how you could make a mistake, so I began to think maybe this printer was dying. But I tried putting the old cartridges back in and it worked just fine. The old and the new tri-color works right, and the old black works,, but I've got 2 new black cartridges that DO NOT work. I've never had such a thing happen in the past. These are both genuine "Original HP Ink" cartridges from Walmart. One shows to have been made in Malaysia in MAR 2022 and the other in Malaysia in AUG 2022.

I was having similar problems with my HP 6500 printer. After numerous tries I deleted hp software. Then downloaded latest software. Now working with no problems.

Probably not your issue, Bird, but the HP all-in-one printer I had quit printing, too, giving an error that the internal ink tray was full. That's the tray the print heads spray into when they're being cleaned. The HP software counts how many times the heads have been cleaned, and after a certain number is reached, it disables the printer. HP tech support told me there was no way to fix it, and to buy a new printer. Yeah, right. Turns out I wasn't the only one to have that problem, and some enterprising software developer put out a patch that reset the counter. That fixed that particular problem, but when the next software "update" broke it again, I put my fist through the scanner window and threw the rest of it in the trash. Never got that mad at a piece of hardware before or since, and now I won't let anything from HP into the house.

That's the problem!..... they are made in the future.... you have to wait until then before you can use them!

46°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 75° again today. Pretty much the same forecast for the weekend as well. Maybe near 80° on Monday.

Tally me amongst those with suits that no longer fit. I have some sport jackets that still fit, but no matching suits anymore. Most of my business attire is in the style of business casual. However, the last decade or so has been mostly jeans and a polo shirt.

The only "Hutch" I know is James "Hutch" Hutchinson, who has been Bonnie Raitt's long-time bass player. I have a photo around somewhere of us together in my office at St. Louis Music when he was there once for a visit. He heard me playing and stopped in to introduce himself (entertaining when famous musicians are still polite enough to introduce themselves). We stayed in touch for awhile, but it's been nearly 20 years since I've talked to him. Super nice guy.

Well, at least you finally found the problem with your printer, Bird. Those cartridges can't possibly work if they haven't even been made yet. :laughing:

Reading the morning paper is getting me down. (I know I know "then don't read it".) Thank goodness mother nature is delivering some of the nicest days you could hope for in November. The only down side is that I am usually over dressed and have to spent time shedding layers. We are right in the peak of leaf season so I am moving lots of leaves. The compost piles are filling up. Dry leaves are much better than wet leaves.

Good morning to all! Low of 40, going up to 70 again today. Big changes tomorrow.... wind up to 55 mph, chances of showers / t-storms by afternoon, and temps dropping by Sunday. Then a very good chance of snow Sunday night and Monday morning. Temps only in the 40's and 50's all next week. Wild ride for sure!

Drew, we have been aware of those figures climbing over the past couple of weeks. I have always been particularly careful (actually bordering OCD) of infection precautions due to my paramedic position. It has always carried over into personal life. Going into a store, always masked, wipe down the cart going in, frequently re-wipe the cart and items being placed into the cart, and wipe everything including the truck handles and inside when leaving the store. I have actually had store employees come up to me in the store and tell me that "you don't have to wipe everything down... we did that already". I look at them and say "thank you for your opinion, but I just like to feel safer". They usually just huff and walk off. Thanks for the link, I just wish more people pay attention.

RNG, you brought back some bad memories.... when I decided to paint the Goldwing, I didn't realize how may pieces were on it! Took a day and a half just to get them all off, let alone get them sanded! If I remember correctly, somewhere around 88 pieces. The paint was a three stage: base, mid, and top colors plus the clear coat! I gained a lot of painting experience for sure. That project took up a whole weeks vacation, plus both weekends just to get the painting done. The following weekend to put it all back on the bike. I WILL NEVER EVER DO THAT AGAIN! .... it sure looked nice when it was done though.... anxiously awaiting your finished pics.

Yesterday's errands took way longer than expected, then the son asked for some help installing an access hatch extension on the septic tank at the old house. We will be officially selling the house to them, settlement occurring in about 3 weeks. By December 1st, we should be officially 'mortgage free' ---- WOOHOO! :thumbsup:

Needless to say, no shop time happened yesterday. I found some muscles in my lower back that apparently haven't been used for a while....

The new shop vac was delivered yesterday, so I really have an excuse to get out there today to hook that up to the dust collector. My other incentive is the exceptionally nice weather today also...

A new ash-vac should be delivered today for the pellet stove, so want to get that all set up too. I should probably get moving.....

RNG, that paint is nice. I used to work at a commercial spray paint operation. It is incredibly difficult to do good paint. So many things can go wrong. They ended up moving to powder coating which can be screwed up too. Nice job.

We've been having intermittent problems with our printer for a while and figured it's just getting old. Day before yesterday the wife changed ink cartridges and fought it for 2 days before giving up and starting shopping for a new one, no easy task, but she finally found one and went in to town to get it. While she was gone the phone rang, nuisance call, and I looked at the printer and there was a message there about ink cartridge alignment so I pushed a button to try to get it to turn off and the darned thing started working. Not real well but better than before. When the wife got home she said that she will fool with it today and see if it really will really work. Meanwhile the new one got stuck away as a stand by. If it was up to me I would have tossed it a long time ago but I don't get along with tech. stuff and she uses it all the time so I just get up and walk away when it gets to me.

Good morning all, 44 going up to 71 and sunny, it's spring already :confused2:
Prepped chainsaw mill and all the stuff I will need to use. Right now looks like I have 14" clearance on a 20" bar. Could get another inch or so if I remove the teeth and put it farther on the nose. Today taking some time off work to try a few planks. Wonder how big a bar I would need for the 26" and 30" trunks I have laying around !

Fixed stuck window for my kids room and put up some lights for the missus. Replaced a broke USB connector on my kids music keyboard.

Popgadget-bin looks so nice and so clean!
Mostly - happy b'day to the missus!
Bird - HP printers seem to have issues with the carriage the print cartridge rides in. Had 2 HPs where they failed at almost exactly 2 years each. Bought Cannon, same thin, now have an Epson (which has goofy, bug laden software). Inkjet printer are just made to sell ink it seems and not actually print well anymore.

Thanks, Chris. I knew from painting another bike white that this wouldn't be easy. The first coat of white primer on the black plastic went OK because I could see where the new paint was going. But from then on out, I was pretty much guessing where to make the next pass, and how much to pull the trigger because I couldn't see the gloss of the paint as it was applied. All I could see was white, white, and more white. Someday maybe I'll build a portable spray booth with lots of lights so I can see the reflections. I was happy when the sun set and I could use a flashlight to create a reflection when shooting the last coat of clear. Even with that help, I'm pretty sure I'll have some runs to deal with when I go out to look at the job this morning. I'll also find some dust and even some bugs in it as well. Picked a fair sized one off the first clear coat that was being held just by its feet, like fly paper. It came off and kept its feet, so I didn't have anything to pick out of the paint with tweezers. Sorta like my welding: I'm a much better sander and polisher than I am a painter...:confused2:

Good luck playing lumber jack, Ken. Be extra careful; those things are really dangerous!

The neighbor's kid, who is anything but mechanically inclined, somehow got hold of an Alaskan mill and tried to use it on a large oak trunk. He ran that saw for hours and hours a day for more than a week before he even got half way through it, then it sat that way for months. Then one day I noticed everything was gone except for the pile of sawdust, and I'm guessing he got somebody to come and clean up the wreckage.:laughing:
