Prepped chainsaw mill and all the stuff I will need to use. Right now looks like I have 14" clearance on a 20" bar. Could get another inch or so if I remove the teeth and put it farther on the nose. Today taking some time off work to try a few planks. Wonder how big a bar I would need for the 26" and 30" trunks I have laying around

Ken, Have you seen the cable winches they have for those mills? They are supposed to make it a lot easier. I have been looking for a big saw for my alaskan mill. Every time a go to the store to look at saws the sticker shock sends me home empty handed.

Thanks, Chris. I knew from painting another bike white that this wouldn't be easy. The first coat of white primer on the black plastic went OK because I could see where the new paint was going. But from then on out, I was pretty much guessing where to make the next pass, and how much to pull the trigger because I couldn't see the gloss of the paint as it was applied. All I could see was white, white, and more white. Someday maybe I'll build a portable spray booth with lots of lights so I can see the reflections. I was happy when the sun set and I could use a flashlight to create a reflection when shooting the last coat of clear. Even with that help, I'm pretty sure I'll have some runs to deal with when I go out to look at the job this morning. I'll also find some dust and even some bugs in it as well. Picked a fair sized one off the first clear coat that was being held just by its feet, like fly paper. It came off and kept its feet, so I didn't have anything to pick out of the paint with tweezers. Sorta like my welding: I'm a much better sander and polisher than I am a painter...

I'll bet they make a paint robot that can get it perfect. Just like robot surgeons, robot welders and robot cars... But the question is what will we be doing then?

Well, started off as a crazy day. I got dressed, all prepared to get to out to the shop.... then all of a sudden, the wifey exclaims that we had appointments for the dogs to go to the groomer! .... five minutes ago....

So got the little old lady (the dog, not the wifey) all harnessed up and off we went! Got there in a reasonable amount of time. The groomer works out of her home, she said it was ok we were late, she still didn't finish her first cup of coffee.

When I got home, went out to the shop to open and check out the new shop vac.... the box was perfect, still all taped up. When I opened it up, much to my surprise, there was a shiny new vac in there. Only problem was there was nothing else... no hose, no filter, no wheeled base, no handles, no nothing else!
Man, was I both angry and disappointed at the same time!

A call to Home Depot was made, just as the customer rep was pulling up the order...BEEP, BEEP, BEEP..... call dropped. OH BOY, I SEE HOW THIS IS GOING TO GO! So, called back, got another nice lady, who proceeded to refund my first purchase, schedule a UPS pickup, an then discount a much larger vac with double the accessories (actually double the price) to a lower price than the first one! A big thumbs up to HD for customer service!

Hopefully the next one will have all of its pieces / parts. Went to retrieve the first doggie, took the second and exchanged them. Now just awaiting a call to pick up the second one. So much for shop time today.... maybe sneak in a few minutes this afternoon.....

Happy Birthday Mrs. Mostly!

I've got a HP Office Jet Pro 8710 (5 years+) and have had no problems with it, running genuine HP ink and cartridges.

   / Good morning!!!! #121,487
We have an HP all-in-one that just replaced the old one sometime within the last two years. The previous one was trouble almost from day one. We suffered through it for a few years, then finally replaced it. Only trouble I've ever had with it was when we recently replaced our wireless router, and a couple of devices had trouble reconnecting with it. Went through the "forget this device" process and reinstalled, everything works great. The only ink problems we have is finding available cartridges.

I have an HP Officejet Pro 8600 on my desk at work, and it's been a fantastic printer for the four years I've been using it.

My grass is not growing very much, a few wild onions and garlic in the back is all.

My HP printers have been the best I’ve had, I suffered through a year with an Epson that almost never worked right, a Cannon and a Brother that lasted about 2-3 years each. My previous HP was almost ten years old and might have just needed a software work around but I figured it didn’t owe us, so about a year ago I bought the current HP.

Happy birthday Mrs. M!

Ron, glad your son is back to work and I hope it turns out to be no big deal.

I just loaded OS 14.2, about 5-6 days after 14.1. I hope this fixes the fixes!

Well, that HP Envy 5660 was a good printer for 4 years and, as I said, they've sent me emails saying no service available, obsolete, etc. so after looking at Walmart and such, I went back to Best Buy and got an HP Envy 7155. It looks like the old one, uses the same ink cartridges, etc. just cost about $50 more than the one did 5 years ago.

Now I've been paying Best Buy $99 a year and can take a computer in for them to fix anytime at no cost, or call and ask questions on the phone. Today I went for the $199 plan that takes care of the computers when needed, but also provides in home service for most other things for $50. And to start with . . . I'm gonna pay'em $50 for their technician to come "install" this new printer, pair it up with both my laptop and my notebook computers, etc. Yep, I'm gettin' old and lazy.

Rip, that looks really good. Did you make up the difference at the top or the bottom or both.... very hard to tell... good job!

   / Good morning!!!! #121,494
Thanks LS. Yes. I made up the difference on that side. The door will act as the divider...so the other side I will also adjust as I go. Should go a little faster this weekend. LOL.

Difference was at the bottom. Adjusted the starter strip and make small adjustments all the way up. Got to the top and was good to go.

I saw 2 bucks yesterday. My wife called my attention to the first one who was eating her blueberry bushes. I rapped on the window. He looked up and thought about it for a minute and wandered back to the woods. He was clearly impressed with me. The second was in the woods at the farm. I couldn't see him well enough to count points but he was a handsome animal. He had has harem with him. I counted 3 does. The buck wasn't very scared of me on the tractor either. There are 4 tree stands down in the bottom land so I'm not sure how good his chances are.

Got the siding primed. Almost 5 gal applied with my Graco XR7 airless. Windier than I would have preferred, likely more overspray than I would have liked. Need to get more finish coat as I’m sure it will take more than I have. So off to HD in a bit so I’ll be prepped for tomorrow.

Good morning

Don, thanks for showing me your hutch (fingers crossed that doesn't have an alternative meaning). I did try to find out what they were with that new iphone translation feature, however it wouldn't dare attempt English US to English UK.

BTW I am okay with using pounds for pressure. When I worked in mining the old timers taught me in PSI which hydraulics lines to be very respectful of. Even to this day I still prefer to fill my tires with non-metricated air.

Bird, you are smart not lazy, nothing wrong at all with getting someone who does it everyday to sort your computer stuff. Instead of all the head scratching you are also helping to keep someone employed locally

It is over 3 days since we had any significant rain and the wind doesn't look too bad today, so hopefully the Iseki should not make too much mess if I use it as transport for my chainsaw stuff and do a bit of alder felling. With no Alaskan mill to play with like Ken, the thicker trunks will be future firewood, while the 4-5" straight lengths make ideal piling to go around the wetland islands.
