I woke up to a high wind warning. It was blowing all night. Sometimes if the wind blows just right all the leaves will magically disappear. No such luck today.:( Piles of leaves all around. Still a lot of leaves up in the trees.

I heard a Doctor on the radio say that it was beneficial to our well being to expose ourselves to some bright sunshine ( not that kind of expose you clowns) so maybe I will try to get some outside exercise this morning.

Chris

I guess I’ve been doing it all wrong then!

Not sure this Facebook link will work for everyone, but here's some good Covid-19 news for a change...

Because his message is contrary to what we are getting from most sources, I did a little research on Dr Berg’s credentials and experience. Others might want to.
As Ron Reagan said, “Trust, but verify”.

Wind chill about 30 here, feels good having a warm dog laying on my bare feet. Clear sky and windy. Dr appointment this am, might try to get something done outside afterwards.

Only got down to 38 last night, high of 48 today and like everyone else this side of the Great Divide, 25-35 mph winds with gusts over 40. Wind was worse around midnight, had a gust of 44 mph at 12:22 according to my weather station. Guess I’ll wait another day to put the flag back up.
Went to vote on Saturday just after 7, everyone else had the same idea. By the time we left near 8 there were no real lines. Oh well, it’s done.
Have a good day mates.

wind was blowing like mad out and then power went off, UPS on computer started beeping. About a minute later power came back on.
Logged back into computer and there was email confirming my 10k portable generator was on its way and would be delivered some time on Wednesday.
Timely for sure...

Reminds me I have to get my two 30 pound propane tanks filled and my two five gallon gas tanks filled, have been putting it off since I still haven't found any E0 around,
but guess I'll just get some premium gas and every six months pour it into my car and refill the tanks. Really don't want to put gasoline in the dual fuel gen if I can avoid it, which
I likely can't since those two small propane tanks, even teed together, aren't likely to be large enough to power the gen properly in cold weather.

Been outside for a couple of hours feeding birds, picking up sticks, rounding up blown away chairs and tarps...found skim ice in the bird baths, although my screen porch thermometer said 36. Surprised not too many leaves blew off, although many are already gone. Too much wind to have frost, except was some under the tarp over top of one of my firewood pallets...took those off so this week's wind and sun could do some more much appreciated work. 50 should be the high.

Kyle, glad you got a reply on your Steiner thread. I went there to give you a reply, but would have had any thing valuable to say.

RNG, looked at B&H Photo...nice selection...I looked at one item to compare...a Red Dot sight for a rifle I'm familiar with...was surprised they had it, competitive prices, but was a 6 to 10 week estimate for shipping. Next time I need something, I'll check them out. Thanks.

Wood stove feeling good today. Coffee, too. Had thought about taking a hike in the mountains this morning, but their forecast had gusts of 50mph forecast.

My wife is calling me to go make another cup of coffee for her, so gotta go.

Good Morning!!!! 64F @ 5:30AM. Sunny. High 84F. Winds light and variable.
Now the ten day is showing rain coming in on Thursday night, and daytime highs dropping from the low 80s to the low 60s from then on out. The monthly forecast shows the temps never climbing back into even the 70s. Fall is comin' and I'm not ready!

Hope your dry spell lasts, Eric. One of my coldest, and wettest, winters was a month spent motorcycling around England, in June!

That's quite the catch, Don. Who gets the honor of keeping it dusted?

Not a nice surprise, Mike. Maybe if you put the first row of vinyl on even with the deck, and the second one up level, it wouldn't be enough of a contrast to easily show?

We all know what you mean, Chris, so go and enjoy some sun on your face.

Any way you could get a propane hose long enough so you could park the propane tanks in the garage, Drew? It might make just enough difference in temperature for them to keep the generator happier.

I've had a red dot on order from the Shield company in England since last June, Bill. My guess is they're getting them from China, and it's another CV19 issue.

Got the power beyond hoses temporarily rigged around the missing TNT valves so I could move the tractor off the driveway yesterday. As usual, I got hydraulic oil all over everything, but by sundown most of it had evaporated. And this time I put on a pair of nitrile gloves to keep it off my hands.

Then I finished up the cam plug. The o-ring groove seems like maybe it's a bit deep, so I hope it still seals. I think there's just enough room to cut another groove if I have to, though.

Also got the extra holes welded up on the airbox, but by then it was too late to paint. Wall clock in the garage is supposed to be "atomic" and self set, but didn't, so I thought it was 5PM when it was really only 4, and that was enough of an excuse to knock off for the day.

Hope everyone's week gets off to an on time start today...

Morning all;
A nice brisk 32 F at 9 AM, wind blowing at up to 20 mph gusts to 30mph or so they say,
my place misses the worst of the winds.
It can be fairly calm at my place go down to the farm and the wind will make it feel colder then a witches tit.
Lite my coal stove off Friday afternoon for the season, never let it go out last year once it got lite off.
Calling for low 60's toward the middle and end of the week.
Just puttering for awhile did fix the central vac hose for my wife had gotten so it wouldn't turn on,
cleaned the rotary contact bands and contacts up and working now.
Take Care All
Lou

Wonder what the new owners thought about a pair of squirrels rattling that storm door every morning?

I know I've mentioned this before, but my brother and his wife used to live in a wooded area in Navarro County and they had bird feeders out, but also got to throwing bread out in the back yard. The racoons liked that bread so much that she started getting 100 loaves at a time from the local bakery thrift shop (when they found out what she was doing with all that bread, they started giving it to her; no charge). When they went out of town once, I went over there every evening about sundown and put about a gallon of bird feed in their feeders and I opened a half dozen loaves of that bread and threw it out in the back yard just as the racoons started arriving. Every evening there was at least a dozen racoons showed up and she even had some that would take the bread from her hand. So I've often wondered what happened when they sold that place.

Reminds me I have to get my two 30 pound propane tanks filled and my two five gallon gas tanks filled, have been putting it off since I still haven't found any E0 around

Found this map up at the RealGas website, Drew. Had this place on it with E0 Sunoco:

Self Heating & Cooling
219 Keith Valley Rd, Horsham, PA; 267-803-4840; ethanol-free SUNOCO 95 98 112

Looks to be about 30 miles away from you, but call first to make sure they're still there.

Then there's this place in New Jersey, a little closer to you, but only have 100 octane av gas:
Raritan Valley Flying Service
41 Airpark Rd, Princeton, NJ; 609-921-3100; ethanol-free UNBRANDED 100

Good Luck!

33F and partly sunny @ 09:30, supposedly headed up to a high of 44F.

Ground is mostly white, got a good bit of snow overnight ... will probably be gone by this afternoon.

Today is the first day of what the Ten Day forecast claims will be an 8 day period of no precipitation and warmer temps ... so the big push to get outdoor winter prep completed will be on.

Got perch board glued, screwed, and clamped on the bottom of one squirrel feeder last night ... hopefully get that one finished up today.

Have more boards to cut on the songbird roost boxes, along with the clear front panels for the squirrel feeders. Need to locate the 3/4 x 3/4

Got a couple of cheap 32 gallon trash cans from Menards to use as containers for the critter food, need to haul those down to the basement and get the food put in them. Still waiting on the 10 gallon containers to come in.

Locate extension cord for bird bath and get that plugged in.

Birds all out there this morning ... but feeders need refilled ... so it's pretty slim pickins until I do that.

More clean/straighten up in the basement.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Took easy route and put it on the deck corner post for now. Too close to house, but it is what it is, better than sitting in garage.

Great idea ... knew there had to be a good use I could put that old mount to ...

Next hard decision of the day, where to pick up supper. I want a good pizza, and there just isn稚 any around that I consider great pizza. And by the time I bring one home it痴 cold.

I had a DiGiorno Thin Crust Supreme the other day ... cannot recommend ... although maybe I overcooked it ... :confused3:

Really miss those Jeno's ...

25°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 57° today. Looks like we're in for sunny days around 70° through next weekend. Not bad at all for November.

Knocked a bunch of things off the honey-do list on Saturday, then spent some time in the evening tweaking the new guitar. Put on some fresh strings, adjusted the pickups (distance from strings), adjusted the string height from the neck, adjusted the individual string intonation at the bridge, and now it's playing very nice. Pleased with the outcome of that work. Then, I stayed up too late playing it ... again.

Printed off the sample ballot for our precinct yesterday so The Wife and I could take a good hard look at the candidates. Went down the entire ballot front and back and did internet searches for each candidate to find out about them. Not many surprises found, as most of the advertising we've been hearing and seeing has been deliberately misleading, on both sides. One of the judicial races here has been exceptionally ugly. I'd like to tell them both to take a walk. Wife went to the court house in Carlyle this morning to cast her early vote. Said she was in and out in 15 minutes. I'll go tomorrow morning on my way to work and vote at the regular polling place in town. I, too, will be glad when this mess is over.

Stayed up too late again last night watching a couple of movies with The Wife. We watched the two Cate Blanchett movies about Elizabeth I. We'd seen one of them before. Good movies.

Kyle, that GT80 looks just like the TY80 (Trial 80) a neighbor had when I was growing up back in the '70s. It was the bike I learned to ride on. Fun little bike.
My memories of ozone smell are from those transformers that came with model electric train sets.

Sorry you lost your trip, RNG, but glad you recognized the potential problem before it left you stranded.
I have moved enough times in the last 30 years that I think I finally outmaneuvered JC Whitney. Haven't seen one of their catalogs in years.

Solid state memory capacity can be a troublesome thing, LS. I've run into it with every iThingie I've owned. As RNG pointed out, not everything gets deleted completely, and digital remnants remain that clog up the memory capacity. It's ridiculous the way SSD was designed to write and re-write in partitions, sometimes skipping entire sections just because of a remnant from some deleted data. You may have plenty of capacity, but your device sees it as occupied and unavailable to write new data there. There's a trade-off in everything, I suppose.

Good morning all,36 going up to 44, windy , very
Friday, flashlight bounced off house from hunter in back neighbors yard, getting frustrated. May call warden....Wonder if he is why I have found 2 deer carcasses in the general area over the last few years, maybe needs glasses?
Got leaves moved over Saturday and kid went trick or treating with friends, glad he didn;t have to miss that.
Saw big buck Sat night, he ran, which is nice since last time we had a big buck during rutting season, he put his antlers down towards us!
Main track lights went weird, only two of three tracks lighting, is up on catherdral ceiling to a pain to trouble shoot

Today play pick up sticks once the wind dies down

Stay Safe and be well

70°F and no rain

Yesterday’s birthday was a welcome break. Just 8 people, outside, good food.

Back to project this morning. Trip to PO also.

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon.

Makani had his first night without being crated. I think he passed, no surprises found so far.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Good morning to all! ?? The low temp... dogs are still on standard time and got me up way too early, considering I stayed up way past bedtime last night watching a show on PBS called 'COBRA'.... an interesting production relating to anarchy in Great Britain after a massive solar flare striking the earth. Anyway... put the dogs out / in and went back to bed for a couple hours....

We lost internet yesterday shortly after posting in the morning.... it was down until around 8 last night. I wonder if we will get a credit on the bill.... I won't hold my breath waiting.... The good news is after going through the wifey's IPAD meticulously adjusting, deleting, and setting preferences, I got the glitch fixed. It's back to having around 60% memory left. It was odd that it didn't correct until after the internet came back on.... I am wondering if there was a 'clog' getting stuff deleted due to an internet problem.... sounds weird, but I guess possible.

RNG, B&H photo was one of the first places I looked for a new IPad. They were $35 higher than what I could get locally though. Since I got her's working again, we are going to hold off getting a new one for a little bit.... at least until it gets messed up again....

Neat hearing about all the squirrel / wildlife stories. My nephew found a baby squirrel in the grass under a tree after a windstorm a few years ago. It was only days old. They fed him with a dropper and got him to survive. They kept him as a pet for his daughter, being he had no 'wild' experience. He made a pseudo den for the little critter, the squirrel would come and greet them when they came in, it would sleep curled up in her lap whenever possible. He described it as acting like a cross between a cat, ferret, gerbil, and a dog. They had him for about 6 years.

I did get some shop time in yesterday. The homemade dust collector system works better than expected, at least on its first trial. Today will be its big test.... I will get some pics of the contraption.

Rip, sorry to hear about the 'off level' porch situation.... there is some play in vinyl siding, allowing to "stretch" each run up maybe 1/8", and loosely attach the opposite side of the run, dropping it maybe an 1/8". Essentially making it level over a few courses / runs. A bit time consuming, but maybe an option?
I hope you can find a simple easy solution.

Everyone have a great day!
