Drew a local guy got a grant from the county (federal money?) to upgrade his business. He did upgrade the filters and also increased the air change over rate and added a system to inject fresh air into the system and added free standing HEPA filters in the public areas. Might help reduce colds and flu too.

I've been reading and hearing about Walmart removing all guns and ammo from their store shelves and securing them in back in preparation for possible rioting and looting after the elections. I found myself wondering this morning what country I live in now. Sad, indeed.

I assume Walmart is doing that nationwide, but the news media here mentioned that you can still buy a gun there; just that an employee will have to go get it from the store room instead of them being displayed. Since I don't need any more guns, I haven't verified that. But I clean and oil my guns once a month anyway, so I did that this morning.

32 degrees this morning, but the sun came out and the temperature went into the 60s so it was a bit warmer than I would have preferred while I was mowing the yard this afternoon, but got it done and hope I won't have to mow so often for the next couple of months.

Also got my weather station and registered on 2 sites already, but it’s sitting in the garage for now.

Walmart backtracked and is now only following thru in areas where there's been violence, rioting, arson, and looting.

36°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 53° today. No more rain in the forecast here for the next week-and-a-half.

I downloaded that SkyView Lite app on my phone last weekend, but hadn't had a chance to try it out because it's been cloudy here all week. Opened it up this morning and went through the setup, and while I was looking down at it, it started showing constellations based on the scattered pecans on the driveway. That was entertaining.

Stayed up too late last night playing the new guitar. Going to have to spend some time with it this weekend getting the string height and intonation adjusted. I had a black Les Paul Standard many years ago, but sold it, and always regretted that. The semi-hollow body next to it on the right is a replacement for another guitar I sold about the same time and also regretted. Now, the LP is replaced, too (but a white Custom this time). Wife asked me last night, "Why another guitar?" When I told her it was to fill a hole, she thought I meant an empty spot on the wall, and just rolled her eyes. After I explained that it was a sonic hole, and that every one of my guitars and basses sound different, and have unique tonal qualities about them that you can't get from other instruments, then she understood. Playing this one last night reminded me how much I've missed that sound.

You guys and these snow pictures already ... not encouraging.

That is one nice guitar. Filling a "sonic Hole" sounds good to me. I passed on an auction for a rough cello. I was going to surprise my daughter. She would have to learn via youtube if I bought one.

70°F snd .05 inches rain.

Got the door reversed and basically set
View attachment 674904 pleased with the results.

Told Sophie I may take a break from the project today to do a bit of cleanup etc.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Looking better by the day. You deserve a break today. Does the boss pay you overtime on the weekends? :)

Got a lot done today. The GT80 yamaha is running, but because I had to put an oversize carb on it (no stock ones available), it needs smaller mainjets and possibly pilot jet. Needs a few other things. I had to take both side covers back off the engine to adjust the clutch. I believed the plates might be stuck, but they weren't. Ended up being the "missing ball bearing" between the actuating shafts, and some extra tweak adjustments. (I didn't put this engine together initially.)

While adjusting the clutch, my wife came and told me our 10 yo son may have broken his finger at school in his physical education class. We whisked him to the local first aid care center. It's not broken, but pulled some ligaments. They put a splint and ace type bandage on it.

Back to work, so he watched me finish up the yamaha. And I would explain what I was doing and made him pay attention to key details.

Steiner sitrep: The motor is not locked up. I was able to rock the front pulley back and forth. Next worry is the radiator is fairly low. If motor overheated, and cracked the head, it could cause coolant loss. Left a message on the Steiner website to help me get manuals. Found a parts manual online. I really need a service manual. But, this thing is built from an industrial standpoint, meaning fairly simple engineering with common available components. I spent an hour or more unstrapping it from the haul, and getting the mower deck unattached. I think I'll leave it on the trailer for now until I find room in the barn to work on it. Anyone have a huge diptank of Kroil? It suffers from FeO2 cancer in many spots, but mostly aethetic spots. It seems everywhere important is heavy duty steel in decent shape. My daughter says its ugly. haha I asked "The shape, or the patina?" She said the shape. The thing is big, and heavy. I spent another hour with an oil can pump, putting drops of oil on all the fasteners I could reach. They are quite rusted too. There are a LOT of hydraulic hoses, and I found one that looks blown. Could it be the cause of it getting parked? Time will tell. Still assessing things.

20 right now...high in the low to mid 40's today. Looks pretty wet.
Chores today: definitely a dump run...if it's dry enough, mulch some more leaves with the mower, then prep the mower for winter. After that, take it as it comes...

Happy Halloween, All!

39 and Frost advisory...going to 53 and some sun that will hopefully dry things out a bit.

Yep Roy, Happy Halloween! :jack-o-lantern: Our county email had an article on Trick or Treating this year...sounded pretty normal except with suggestions for wearing a mask rather than the one that came with the costume. Not much Trick or Treating out here in the middle of nowhere...used to be parents driving car loads of our kids' friends house to house, but since ours are grown, stopped.

Kyle, sorry about your son's finger...smart you are showing him how to work on the bike. Once you get the Steiner running, are you going to use it, or sell it?

Buppies, sorry about your truck...nice they're making a "house call."

Too wet to work outside, so took a long hike at the park...saw water running like creeks where I've never seen moving water before, and wash outs on the trail. Got my splitter running...decided best to try to start it on a warm day, after a 6 month sleep...took 8 pulls...so I'm not even sore this morning.

Good morning all. Our clocks changed last week, in theory that gives another hour in bed on the day of change, however with a dog who doesn't understand why politicians mess with time (me neither), I set an alarm for the "old" time and gradually ease things back 10 minutes a day. Now we are all back in sync, I can wake to the radio and ease out of bed, leaving a still sleepy wife upstairs and come down to a still sleepy dog downstairs - my version of Nirvana. :)

"Will those new fish help in the battle of the weed monster"
Alas RNG, the most effective Crassula weed monster control is the Iseki with a drag line, which is good fun but hard work. The fish are going in the newly expanded pond, no weed problem there - yet

Don, will it make much difference to the rainfall reading when wind is blowing in a certain direction, so rain hits the weather station first :confused2: ?

Kyle, you are welcome to a few feet off that hose of mine. It may not be rated for hydraulic oil, but would surely save all that time oiling the fasteners and keep the rust away too. :D Hope your son's finger heals well.
