Quite deafening as I walked back to the house a couple of minutes ago, hundreds of jackdaws are in the air circling around, as one group lands another takes off, all the while telling one another something with their distinctive call, though I know not what that can be. Sounds like this, ony more intense Jackdaw Bird Call Bird Song - YouTube

I intend staying in for the rest of the day for a bit of rest. On Friday I foolishly tripped over a brick in the dark in my haste to shore up some boards keeping rain off the fresh mortar. I stayed upright, however the plank of wood I was carrying took the opportunity to clonk me on foot, knee and forehead, all in one go :confused2:. Much better today, just a bit stiff

LS, great air seat !

Roy, I'm sure you will soon have the link leveller free. I have the opposite problem, mine is too well greased and works loose during the day unless I use a spanner on the locking nut, or stop it turning with a bit of rope.

Sodamo, I zoomed in to see your first container cut out and was surprised to see so many Ryobi tools scattered across the floor. Are you sharing the product placement money with Mohamed ? :D Second cut out looks to have gone well.

48 outside this AM. Drizzling. Rain moved in overnight. Will continue most of day. Will work on cleaning front porch up today. No work on that yesterday. Ended up with just digging roots up and regrading reseeding two area where our big silver maples were. Sad. They were huge trees. I did venture out back to mow some trails as I deposited dirt into some fence and tree holes in the back pasture. Unfortunately I discovered Mr. Beaver is back. Will have to set traps again.
Sushi was awesome. But it was just me and the girls. First time in over two years we have all been together. It was nice that they all whipped out their debit cards when the bill came. And the restaurant owners all remember us. Usually over the past few years it was just one or two of us doing pickup or going in before COVID. It was a first for me actually sitting in a place since that came around.
On I66 opinions....it has been a parking lot from the DC line to points west for 15 years. With toll lane constructions it is standstill and actual closures at times. I wasted about 4 hours a day in that stuff. I95 was no better. Although now...it is complete with toll lanes straight up into DC. We have seen prices from 10 to 40 dollars one way. Sometimes much higher. Some call it progress.

Eric...sounds like the Alfred H. movie The Birds.

Caught this guy yesterday when I took a break in the back.

Hope all have a great day today. Be safe.

got about 75 daffodils planted until back gave out, need to pace myself. Much of the soil was full of gravel from the driveway, would have been almost impossible to do
without auger. Planted around mailbox and half way down driveway in batches of 8-10 bulbs.

Do not like driving in northern Virginia the increase in aggressive driving is easy to see once one gets above NC Buppies. Lots of lane restrictions,
where selfish folks won't follow a every other car merge, try to
squeeze in behind another car, not a lot of kindness shown, only folks who you can depend upon are big truck drivers.
DC drivers very much like Philadelphia drivers, who I consider the worst, but I think it's probably like that
near most big metropolitan areas. And with exception of local police in tony towns like Middleburg
where the tourists were out leaf peeping, I hardly saw any police on the road. Maybe one car stopped the whole trip
and we consistently had folks blow our doors off doing 80 or more.

RNG, yeah it all fit, easily too since the clothes were put in garbage bags and they packed in easily
All dumped on basement floor, headed down there in a bit after back chills out

rain system just starting to come in to PA, now mostly in central VA, MD and DE. Should be a nice soft soaker.
still nice outside here

Hope you all have a nice Sunday.

Good morning to all! Awoke to cloud cover this morning, which made for a beautiful sunrise. Orange / pink tint clouds stretched all the way from east to west for a brief time. Due to the clouds, the overnight temps only dropped to 53. A stark contrast to tomorrow morning's expected low of 11. We are still expecting 4-8 inches of snow tonight/ early morning. Repeat forecast for 2 nights thereafter.... maybe up to 14".... what happened to fall? Our leaves are just barely changing.....

RNG, I hope the winds don't kick up the fires again... hope you get some moisture.
Good idea with the basketball, Ted, and it even matches the rest of the tractor. Long as it doesn't interfere with the safety interlock in the seat...
I am fortunate enough to not have an interlock on the seat.... it is a gear tractor, so just the clutch, brakes, and shuttle shift have the interlocks. I can get on/off with it running, even the PTO going, as long as the parking brake is on and it is in neutral. So much simpler design! I don't even have any beepers, buzzers, or alarms!

Ron, another great bird pic! That is a lot of bird seed! But, I have only one feeder, and use about 100 lbs... so x5 would be 500 lbs. We just don't have birds as pretty as you do!

Drew, glad you were able to tolerate the long ride .... no wonder you are stiff! I would like to thank you for creating more work for me! I made the mistake of showing the wifey your pic of the bulbs and reading to her how many / type of bulbs you are planting...... now I have another project.... planting bulbs in the pond area! At least it will have to wait until after this anticipated snow storm....

I am glad that we don't have to deal with all that traffic snafu stuff out here.... the only problem areas are confined to actually driving in the bigger cities....and there are only 3 in the whole state! Other than the occasional construction delay in areas, mostly open highways at 75 mph for hundreds of miles at a time. I guess I forgot what driving around the Phila area was like.... I am sure it is even worse now than what I remember. I used to complain about the traffic on RT313 around Doylestown..... and that was 25 years ago!

Today I will make sure I am prepared for the snow, make a quick grocery pickup, then maybe have some shop time....

Everyone have a great day!

Eric, sorry to read about your fall.... I hope you're not too boogered up! Maybe a day of rest will do you good.

Stopped at pharmacy to second pneumonia shot.

Kinda makes me curious. Which shot did you get? Two of my doctors in the past, in the same office, disagreed on how many shots were needed and how long they'd be good for. So I got:

PPSV23 on 02/09/2007
PPSV23 on 09/10/2013
and
Prevnar 13 on 02/03/2017

71°F and .39 inches rain yeaaaaa, need it. Yesterday afternoon it came with wind, not conducive to my project.

Likely an energy conservation day. A couple of games of interest on today.

During my wx break yesterday I made up 4 short RG6 Ethernet cables. Out of practice as I wasted 4 connectors

Curious, any of you guys ever have your fingers lock up? Not talking just a cramp, but grab with other hand to try to straighten with tears in your eyes kind. Seems to be triggered by unusual hand activity like yesterday making my cables. Thankfully it doesn’t last long, usually my index fingers and not frequently.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Buppies, sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday a couple of weeks ago. Hope it was special.

Then try to catch some World Series tonight...Kershaw v. Glasnow is a good matchup.

Buppies, happy birthday! Don’t remember if I said it a couple weeks ago.

Just watching the 9th inning replay now.

Not a whole hand, but individual joints on several fingers. Got a rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis during this year's physical. Those same joints are sore most of the time, resulting in lost range of motion. It's getting worse, so it's time to figure out if anything can be done to stop or improve it.

Cable wise, I found it most helpful to leave plenty of length on the individual wires until I can get them straightened out and in the correct order. Only then do I trim to the correct length. I'm using Ubiquity cable and connectors now, and its solid conductor is easier to get into the connectors as well. The connectors are shielded, which makes observing the conductors a bit of a pain, but it's doable. Don't know if the shielding makes any difference, but haven't had any issues even with the long run out to the generator pad.

Last year I fed over 600 lbs. of bird seed. Well worth the cost. With all the entertainment and pictures I get of all the critters at feeders..

Mom always feed the birds with multiple feeders, one feeder right in front of the picture window. , and also would put corn out.
Not sure what kind of bird this is.

This is one of 5 sugar maples in their front yard. My trees I have grew up in their flower bed from one of these.

When I was dating my wife, I lived in Laurel and she was In Harrisonburg va, so I drove the beltway and I66 every weekend for 3 years. I haven’t been down that way in over a couple years.

Nice picture.

Forgot to answer bird feeder questions. I fill feeders 2 times a week. Suet 1 time a week. Takes about 5 gallons to fill all 4 feeders. All 4 are never fully empty. When the blackbirds finally head south the amount of bird feed will drop off about a gallon each filling. Last year I fed over 600 lbs. of bird seed. Well worth the cost. With all the entertainment and pictures I get of all the critters at feeders. I added one new feeder this year. Always seems to be the first one to be emptied. It is a little smaller than others and has a suet cake hold on each end. But the birds seem to like it better than the other 3.

Nice picture, and I'll bet you make a lot of birds happy too. Our new barncat "Waffles", an orange and white female, is providing us good entertainment. Especially when the neighbor's male cat and her get into a scrap.

Good morning! 48˚F heading to the mid 70s.

Kyle as temping as the road trip sounds I'll have to decline. I'm already committed for Tue and Wed and for me that would be 8 hours on the road. But be sure to take lots of pics and let us know the size of the Kubota motor and the condition of the mower.

I had to order a rain gauge like I left on the farm, the one that measures 100th inch of rain, to verify what I and thinking about the tempest weather station, that it only records about 1/2 of the rainfall. Then when I get the exact difference I'll have to figure out how to adjust it or get it adjusted, I'm still a little foggy on that procedure since it records rainfall by vibration.

Rick, my mom has a lot of sand burs in her yard. What is the best way to get rid of them and when is it done. When I had the sand burs I just pulled them out where I walked and never tried to treat a large area.

Drew, looks like you are prepared to make you new yard look like Holland, I'm sure you will have a nice crop of flowers in the spring.

I'm not quite sure why the college football coaches on the sideline want to protect their necks with facemarks.

Is anyone not going to celebrate Thanksgiving with family because of covid? Costco now sells the covid home test.

I have a new friend who is going to go with me.

MSMA also works if you can get your hands on it. Maybe some of your cousins that do hay can offer advice.

Happy Anniversary to GM. thank you Irv.

Yes, thank you Irv!

RNG, still wished you were a Texan nearby. I'd take you too. Just have to do a virtual update for you guys. Looking at the weather, it might be best to hold off until Thursday...
