62 heading to mid 70's today. Hey, no fog this AM! When the grass dries out...yup. More grass cutting. Is nice lush and green. Very odd I told my wife. Looks amazing for this time of year.

Need to move dirt with the wife's tractor too. The water lines we dug for the pastures need some leveling...sigh. I hope to work on the porch ceiling today too. Last night a daughter came in from Richmond, so today the whole family will try and make it down to our favorite sushi place. It's been a few years since we all could do that. It will be ...amazing!

Randy, arm sounds like it is under control? Ouch...did the blood thinners have that bleed through...or was it just bad damage?

David, last night on HGTV (admit I watch that show...lol) they stood a shipping container vertically and attached it to a metal run in shed. I thought to myself, you of course, but heck, I should try that. But then they broke out the welding equipment....I only work with an angle grinder and am good at cutting stuff up. Not putting stuff together. LOL.

wngsprd, my skunk...looks to have gotten taken out by a car on the front road. I just have one pesky ground hog that has returned again under one building. I have trapped three under that building. I doubt it is the same one returning, I need to mark it, so it must be some genetic code they share.

Hope all have a great day...yes porch ceiling pics are in order. Very happy with the way it has turned out.
Be safe. Enjoy the weekend.

My grass just isn’t growing now, it’s been ten days and didn’t really need it then after 15 days. A few wild onions and garlic that’ll be around all winter and a few patches in the back where I filled low spots and reseeded with some generic blend, are all that’s growing. Still mostly green but getting brown spots now.

Yep, I think I'm seeing more wild onion than I've ever seen. The Bermuda grass has stopped growing, but the others are still green and growing pretty fast.

Even though I didn't catch the skunk out this morning, once it got light, I could find new digs, so I know it was there. I watch HGTV channel with my wife, too. Good rehab/construction and landscaping projects.

Good morning! 45 now and windy, supposed to struggle to 63 or so.

Made breakfast this morning. Basic frittata was on the menu.

Going to split a trailer full of wood. Hooked the splitter to the tram tour last Sunday and found a hose leaking at the crimp. Put 2 new hoses on this week, so try it again.

Everyone stay safe out there

Good morning. It's 53° with a 12 mph north wind here and our high will be only about 69°.

When the front came thru, late yesterday afternoon, the temperature dropped from 83° to 61° in about 20 minutes. Winds were gusting to about 30 mph.

We finalized our deal, to replace our sold Polaris XP700, yesterday and brought home our new PR XP 1000 Crew "Texas Edition".

IMG_2530.jpg
IMG_0615.jpg

The difference between it and our 13 year old PR is amazing. It's way more powerful, much quieter, with great seats. I took it out, after dark, last evening and the LED headlights are really bright.

I went online and ordered a set of rear view mirrors for it.

I was going to put our 15 gallon 12 volt sprayer in the bed and finish spraying perimeter fence lines but .. that will wait until the wind goes down.

Bought a cargo bed mat for it, to keep things from sliding around so .. will need to take it down to the shop, remove the cargo tie downs in the corners of the bed, put in bed mat, then install cargo tie downs thru the mat. I rarely used the cargo tie downs in our previous Ranger .. so I might not even re-install them for now. That would make cleaning out BP the bed much easier if the mat could be quickly removed?

Hope everyone has a great start to your weekend.

Prayers to all.

Rick, besides the logo on the seats what makes it a Texas edition?

Good morning to all! Late start today... got caught up in reading other threads...

The low was a cold 27 Degrees, a preview of what is coming by Monday morning. High today should be around 68. Now the forecast is calling for up to 4" of snow Sunday night, snow showers Monday, then another 4-8" Monday night. Some are forecasting more snow Tuesday night, others taking that possibility out of the forecast. Highs for next week will only be in the mid 30's. We really need the precip, so it doesn't matter much....

Yesterday was a bust for my projects..... spent the whole day prepping and installing a pellet stove for the neighbor. I didn't even take any pictures of the tractor mirrors! I'll get a little of my stuff worked on today, but go back to the neighbor's and get the stove fired up and running this afternoon, we had to wait until the stovepipe sealant cured. He was kinda in a rush to get it done before all this cold and snow moves in..... I hope he didn't jinx it!

Ron, beautiful view from the window. How much seed do you use a week in all those feeders? I only have one feeder out, but have been wanting to add a couple more.

Drew, hope your trip goes very good and you are able to retrieve all your things.

David, do the shipping containers get hot like they do over here on the mainland? Or are they just kept open enough to allow ventilation? Do you put any insulation in the inside? Curious minds want to know....

Rick, nice ride!.... not a tractor, but still very nice! What is the top speed?

Roy, have fun today playing.... eh, familiarizing yourself with your new toy.... eh, tractor, yeah that's it.....

I' m going to get started.... need to weld that diamond plate and get it all painted before the weather moves in. I need a big shop / maintenance barn so I can do everything inside....

Everyone have a great day!

Rip, it’s both, big tear and Eliquis/aspirin.

Yep, I think I'm seeing more wild onion than I've ever seen. The Bermuda grass has stopped growing, but the others are still green and growing pretty fast.

I’m seriously thinking of harvesting some of each, they’re stronger than cultivated varieties and are great in soups and chili.

Since PG&E doesn't seem capable of maintaining their transmission infrastructure so that it will operate in a safe manner, they have to shut it off whenever the wind blows and the humidity drops. This is a direct result of deferring maintenance and upgrades for years beyond when they should have been done. But don't get me started...:irked:

I meant no disrespect when I mentioned paying somebody for my upcoming project. You were a victim of someone who talked big and delivered little. Sorry.

How is your system holding up? Does the generator have to kick in much?

Got down to 57 headed to 76 if this fog clears. I’m in Easton this morning, about an hour from home, Ellen has an appointment to excise a mole behind her ear that’s basil cell carcinoma. Not sure how long that will take. The doggie and I are waiting outside.

I use a combination of Gunk and kerosene in my parts washer, I clean the filter regularly, I only clean the sludge out of the bottom about every six months, but I don’t use it too much anymore.
My arm is still bleeding, I’ve got a call in to the doctor to see what I can do. Good old Eliquis is good at its job, preventing clotting.

Roy you will love the hydro after a couple of uses, especially for loader work.

Took Ellen for removal of basil cell carcinoma yesterday, that was successful on the first attempt so it kept the area small. She’s a bit sore though. Her dad went for tests yesterday and they kept him for monitoring, heart, lungs and kidneys.

I went back to the doctor and got my arm cauterized, that was a bit uncomfortable, but at least I’m not bleeding through bandages every 2-3 hours. The area is roughly 1.5”x 3” and it’s a three cornered flap. Probably needed stitches that night but you know how it is.

Very foggy the last three mornings.
61-77 today, then 57 and rain tomorrow. I have to replace some flood lamps outside, I think my son in law is going to do the ladder climbing, I just don’t trust myself for that anymore.
More great pictures and Info as usual.
Have a great day that’s blessed by the one.

Prayers for Ellen's and Buppies removals to be successful.

I hope your bleeding gets stopped. Can you use super glue?

Great pictures guys. We don't get much for fall colors down here. Post oak and pecan tree leaves just turn ugly brown.

Rich, was it cold?

Thanks for prayers for my daughter. She needs them right now.

Hope all of you have a blessed day.

Good Morning!!!! 55F @ 8:15AM. Sunny. High 76F. Winds light and variable.
Looks like a beautiful day on tap, but the Red Flag Warning comes back tomorrow morning and will run through Tuesday. The power outage rating jumped to a Watch yesterday, and the juice will go off again sometime tomorrow after 2PM, and won't resume until sometime late Tuesday.

Speaking of juice, I finally got through to the solar contractor yesterday, and was told his partner should have gotten back to me three weeks ago. Talk about throwing someone under the bus! I forwarded another copy of the punch list to him, and was told he'd be meeting with the partner in an hour and he would call me back. No call, so I'll try him a little later this morning.

More fine fall colors, Ron. How long between fillings for the bird feeders?

Good luck with that defogger, Don. I have a shelf with a half dozen brands that don't work. Better you should figure out why your mask is leaking air, though, as it's not providing the protection it's supposed to.

What will happen to the metal that came out of the doorway, David?

One step closer to the carb install on the white bike yesterday when I epoxied a cam lobe to the throttle gear to increase the stoke on the cable pull. It's something I've done before, needed to adopt the older carbs to a newer bike. I'd left the gate open for a FedEx delivery, but found a parcel from DHL on the driveway in front of the garage. It had the new ignition system in it, less than a week all the way from Germany! Got busy making a bracket to hang the new twin coils. Paper patterns first, then cut the metal and drill it. I'll get it welded and painted this morning. The old unit triggered off the cam, and this new one triggers off the crank. No more timing variation due to timing chains, but now I need to make up a plate to blank off where the old ignition mounted. That would have been a perfect project for one of Kyle's CNC machines, but I'll make it in two pieces by turning cranks...

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

The rear 3PH controller is really cool! Haven't tried the creeper (inching) control yet...raining now.
The quick hitch is on the 3PH, but the adjustable lift link (for leveling) won't rotate to adjust. I sprayed PB Blaster on it and hope it frees up. I don't want to rig the blower until I can adjust (level) the lift links. I might have to remove the QH to use a long pry bar to break the stuck lift ling loose...only about half to 5/8ths out of adjustment
That's a bummer, but as long as it isn't cross threaded, it should loosen up after a few hours. If not, I'll ask the dealer to take care of it...might need replacement, but that'll be a dealer decision. I'm not going to fault the dealer...but did notice all grease fittings except this link had been greased.
Rain isn't hard...just sprinkling, actually...but enough to get the leaves wet and difficult to use a blower on the gutters or the lawn. I expected to do that job tomorrow anyway.
I did get a 50' outside (heavy duty) extension cord, so that task is complete.
Guess I'll have a beer, maybe watch a movie...

I meant no disrespect when I mentioned paying somebody for my upcoming project. You were a victim of someone who talked big and delivered little. Sorry.

No worries Kyle. I've learned my lesson about trusting people, and should have done the van work myself. Even if I had to do some of it over again in the learning process, it would have been done correctly and in less time.

The last power outage ended at 12:27 PM yesterday, as logged by the solar power control computer. Didn't run the generator except for the normal Friday exercise period, all done automatically. I do find myself scheduling activities that need a lot of electrical power for the peak sun hours of the day; it's a use it or lose it situation with solar once the battery bank is fully charged. Doesn't always work out, especially when it's hot and I need to run the A/C overnight. When I was off the grid during the fires earlier this year, I did use the generator to keep the battery bank charged, but only put four hours on the generator during that time. During a two day outage last year about this time, the little Honda generator ran 25 hours keeping the 'fridge cold and running the TV and lights at night. Now the battery bank takes care of those loads easily, and no messing around with gasoline and patch cords. So far the solar power system is the best purchase I've made in 2020!

arson.jpg
Just ran across a horrific statistic put out by CalFire. So far this year, there have been 81 arson fires here in California, 58 of them were wildfires. The rest were on buildings. Hard to believe someone would deliberately cause such destruction and loss of life, but I guess it's another sign of the times we're livin' in. I can't imagine a punishment severe enough for these sickos, except maybe burnin' 'em at the stake.

I remembered to take pics of the tractor mirrors (before being distracted by the next shiney thing...)

Then I also remembered my other addition on the tractor.... an "air ride seat"..... poor man's edition..... seems to be working so far!:D

Good morning! 49˚F heading to only the high 60s. Winter is back. Went to the outback yesterday to deliver provisions to Mom. Y'all remember when you choose your "forever" place to make sure it has medical facilities in the county and a grocery store that delivers or move closer to you kids.

Ron the tractor pic yesterday was mulch (wood chips) not compost. The green house wants to till in compost and plant things in the area around it. I think my mistake of mulch was a better idea, mulch it to keep the weeds out and forget it. Oh well, that is an area I don't have to keep up.

Roy those are some neat things you have on that Deere, it will be fun.

Kyle, for some reason I'm excited about our new Steiner project. I see where there are two different Kubota motors, do you know which one yours has? Are there any attachments that come with it, I see they make 26.

Still no fall colors here but the greens are a getting duller.

As I was shopping for Mom yesterday I found 1 container of lysol laundry sanitizer and stopping at another HEB grocery store found a spray can of lysol they had just stocked so I'm good for another 2 months.

I could not find any defogger mentioned here but I did order another spray defogger for glasses with mask wearing and it is a 5 star product. It's Fogaway from amazon. It's sprayed on and after it dries (I use a hairdryer to speed up the process) you wipe it off. No fogged up glasses anymore, yea! (And it's made in Ohio.)
Amazon.com: Anti Fog Spray for Glasses | Prevents Fog on All Lenses and Devices such as: Glasses, Goggles, PPE, VR Headsets | Safe on Anti-Reflective Lenses | Made in the USA | FogAway by Gamer Advantage: Health & Personal Care

Don, likewise. You are right, there are 2 models of Kubota diesels, and I believe it depends on which year model it is. I don't know which one yet. Looking at the exhaust and intake photo is the only clue I believe it's a diesel, and the dash has a glow plug light. I've already looked at a post where a guy showed how to take apart a Sundstrand hydraulic pump and repair it. The thing belonged to a state gov't entity, and I'm hoping that maybe something little caused it to die. There are very few repair centers for them (especially down here), so I'm guessing that repair costs/logistics had prompted them to sell it. It certainly could use an "Imron Overhaul" too. I initially talked to a guy at the complex and he said that they had equipment to help load it. Then I got a snarky reply from the administrative assistant that NO help would be offered. The thing was placed on an old trailer and still sits there. The guy also initially said he would get it off the trailer. So I asked Ms. Snarky to just have him take it off the old trailer and place it on the ground where I can access it. I need to get a come-along and some straps. I hope to go on Tuesday or Wednesday to pick it up. You want to go with me? It's about 2.5 hours southeast from here.

Here are all the evidence photos I had to determine to buy it or not...Time and knowledge will determine what we have.

They are not necessarily the most eye appealing things, but diesel, hydrostatic, similar to Deere F series like Ron's, and Toro makes them too.

70°F and no measurable rain.

Will cut the big do in this morning. Using lessons learned hopefully quicker and neater.

Sophie off to town. Local Outdoor Circle giving away 2 trees per vehicle.

UPS delivered security gateway very late yesterday.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
