A nice calm and sunny start to the day here, with only a slight chance of rain by the afternoon.
I had promised my wife I would give the range cooker a real good cleanout today as I haven't done it for a while and there must be a lot of soot inside as even with a firebox full of glowing embers, the side oven didn't get hot enough yesterday to cook properly. She has just said it is ok, leave it for another day and get on instead with whatever I want to do outside while it is dry. A sign that she still loves me - or maybe just prefers salad for tea today ?
Voluntarily making an inventory of guns is an interesting concept. Anyone not having that in the UK would be facing a lengthy spell in jail. Every five years we have to apply to the police for a renewal of our firearms certificates, which lists every gun we own - the maker, the action (bolt, lever etc), the calibre and the serial number. It also lists the maximum quantity of ammunition we can posses, which is typically no more than 250 rounds of centrefire and 850 rimfire.
