PJ, my gun inventory list is easy... we only have 2. One silver, one black. Both the same caliber, so ammunition is simple.....

We have 7 handgun cartridges, 5 rifle cartridges, and 2 shotgun gauges.

I keep trying to convince myself that if I could have a lever action .38/.357 rifle, a .38/.357 revolver, and a 12g shotgun, I could be happy and have everything I really need. The problem with that theory is that I don't know if I could part with my .22s, or any of my old military rifles. I just enjoy guns too much to downsize.

RNG, we are under what they're calling here a "Fire Weather Warning" today, which I assume is pretty much the same as your Red Flag Warning. Everything is ridiculously dry here, humidity is low, and winds will be kicking up today. First time I can remember hearing that in a long time for this area.

Sorry you're seeing that, too, Paul. Out here, the Fire Weather Warning is one stage shy of the Red Flag Warning, issued when forecasters think that Red Flag conditions are possible in the next few days or so.

This is the page put up by the utility to track upcoming and current Public Safety Power Shutoffs. It pretty much tracks the NWS Red Flag Warnings. They also publish a map that details, down to individual properties, where the electricity will be turned off. They have installed hundreds of weather stations state wide that they use to monitor temperature, wind, and humidity, and those numbers figure heavily into just where and when the juice gets turned off, and when they start turning it back on again. But as such, there's quite a bit of uncertainty in just when the lights will go out, and for me at least, that's the part that's hardest to deal with. Even with my own backup power, I don't like to be away from home with an active PSPS event pending, and that's meant cancelling or even returning early from trips and errands. Unfortunately, it's a reality more and more people are having to get used to, and not just in California.

Trees have not gotten to full color in front of my house.

Luther, putting mower away for the year. No leaves to mulch?

Hi Ron, I'm one of those weird people that actually enjoys raking leaves and the exercise doesn't hurt. Our 2 acres is 75% wooded with a mix of pine and hardwood. The only clear and flat area is maybe a 1/4 acre with about 50/50 lawn and gardens so it's not that big an area to clean up. Nice pic of the trees that's about where we are for color and are just starting to drop.

Enjoy what's left of your day

GGRRRRRRRR.....
rejected again by DMV. They insist on my having two pieces of mail with my name on it and this address. All I had was junk mail without my name.
And yes they wanted the original SS card.
So...brother mailing me the original, that will count for one piece of mail, and I asked a friend to send me a blank envelope through USPS.
This is utterly absurd, I am the last person they should be worried about and am only being penalized as I was trying to get my PA license in effect before I saw insurance agent on
Friday morning. Well....I have 30 days anyway.

in contrast, Board of Elections was a piece of cake. It was at courthouse and I had to go through screener and even take off my belt. Ok, they were nice about it.

BIL coming over in a little while with lunch and some tomatoes from his garden.

69°F and no rain.

Should get rest of mowing done this morning.

Then I will likely spend some time with my Wi-Fi upgrade, possibly getting a node installed on a existing mast. My thoughts have been to extend the height about 4 ft. Might try at existing height just to avoid the additional work.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

62F and mostly cloudy @ 13:00, headed up to a high of 69F.

Good morning/afternoon. Been a busy last couple of days it seems like.

Spent most of the day before yesterday the FS 66 brush cutter - once we finally found the shoulder strap - to cut down the weeds around the peonies and the rest of the circle, gather them up, and incorporate in compost pile. The fronds of the ferns have all died back and fallen over at this point and all the pachysandra can now be seen. Hopefully this coming year, we'll get vegetation killer applied when the weeds come up ...

Got a little more clean up done on blower parts the night before that ... before the wood stove ran me out of the shop ... was 79F inside when I left ... guess I got a little carried away with the fire ...

Went to a local discount store (Ollies) before that with The Woman, she scored a pair of house shoes and I picked up a nice Wells Lamont winter jacket for $40 to replace my old one which is now so threadbare and ripped up it's almost embarrassing to wear it anywhere ... Also grabbed a gallon of Totally Awesome! cleaner/degreaser for $5, which seemed like a good price ...

The bad news on the blower is neither of the yokes I picked up (Sam Winer and TSC) will work ... on the first, the internal bore for the shaft is off by couple of thousandths (looks like it was not completely machined out) and the keyway slot size is wrong (need 5/16" ... only 1/4" on new one ...) and it lacks the through hole for either a roll pin/shear bolt. On the second, the outside lock-up dimension between the ears was incorrect.

I'd been avoiding really diving into this, hoping to come up with a quick and easy solution ... but that really wasn't happening. So yesterday I dived in and really researched and edu-macated myself a little further on PTO shafts. The unit has an Italian style (triploid) shaft ... quite possibly a Bondioli and Pavesi, Series 4. It looks like the specific yoke that Jacobsen used (keyway + hole for shear bolt) is no longer offer by B and P ... but Jacobsen shows it as available. The only problem is that they want $374 bucks for it ... which definitely ain't happening ...

Came up with a part number for a B and P yoke with only a keyway and set screw and happen to locate a NOS one on fleabay. Interestingly the photos of that one showed a casting number (59404 S1) that was one digit different from the one that came off the blower (59403 S1) ... so it seems like the shaft may indeed be a B and P item.

Ultimately I located an AB4 Weasler yoke that is compatible with the B and P Series 4 shafts, that Rural King offers for a quite reasonable $38 and change, plus another $12 for the shipping. I opted to go with pin hole only, figuring that the load on it shouldn't be all that much, and if I take care to feather the clutch and engage it at low rpm the Grade 8, 1/4" shear bolt will probably hold up fine. If it becomes an issue, I have a resource to have a keyway machined into the new yoke. Ordered that last night, and barring any difficulties, I should have it sometime early next week at the latest.

Some hints of sun out there today, so it will be an outside day ... at least until the sun goes down.

Need to get some more crusher run spread on the driveway and fill in a couple of low spots and places where runoff has eroded it.

Plus whatever other outside tasks need doing while it's still relatively warm out.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...
