Rest in Peace
Dang, Drew, it sounds as if your DMV folks are as bad as ours in north Texas. It's just next to impossible to get into their office, and when you do, you can almost bet that you won't have everything they can think of to ask for. I have a granddaughter who, after 3 trips, had to make an appointment for 2 months from now.
And I recently had quite a time with our refrigerator. The ice maker was replaced, but then it still didn't make ice, AND the refrigerator quit cooling properly. The technician came back, tore into the guts of the refrigerator behind the (inner panels?), found a little fan stuck and not turning, freed it up, lubricated it, and got it to cooling properly again, but still no ice. He had told me to turn the setting from "Max" where he had set it to "Normal" after her contacted some expert who told him there was a fan in there that was for the "original" ice maker, but the replacement ice maker, which LOOKS identical will not work with that fan turned on. So I turned it off. After 24 hours, still no ice, and I thought I'd call him again, but I decided to pull the front off the ice maker, as he had done, and as he had shown me. I pulled it off, took it out in the shop and just blew it out with the air compressor, low pressure, without seeing ANYTHING to come out or any reason for blowing it out, other than perhaps to warm it a bit, put it back in, AND IT DUMPED THE FIRST TRAY OF ICE BEFORE I COULD CLOSE THE DOOR. And it continued dumping a tray of ice every hour and 13 minutes, give or take a minute until that big ice container was full.
I had started pricing refrigerators, thinking I was going to have to replace this one that is 15 years old, but now it's working just fine. No telling how long that will last. But that repairman, Miguel, was as pleasant and nice as any man could be.
