Good morning! 66˚F raining. Beta is in Texas, heading straight to us but should make the turn now. The Tempest records heavy rain a little better and is reporting .28" in the last 25 minutes (so about an inch.)
Drew good to see you are taking control of your health. My wake up call was my heart attack, my brother who was 5 years younger than me, had his fatal heart attack 5 years later, at the same age I had mine. My cousin, 68 who died last month also did not change his diet after his bypass, another reminder/encouragement. The Doctors in Houston
The Weatherhead PET Imaging Center were also a big encouragement that I was on the right track and actually monitored the stopping of the progression of my heart disease through the PET scan over 5 years.
I know you say you will not be completely plant based but please do not allow yourself to make constant excuses and give yourself permission, like traveling, special occasions eating with friends special benefit, holiday - you see how many time a week you can easily break plant based. In the country
every weekend (before covid) there was a church or FD or benefit that would make me cringe, a good cause but a very unhealthy way to raise money for those like me who's diet directly affects my health. My wife who was vegetarian for the last 25 years but changed for the stricter diet has been a constant encouragement and good cook. (She still takes no prescription drugs.)
If it stops raining later I need to pick okra and beans and give a bunch to Mom this week. I got all the rust off her well an will paint it and trim some trees and fix a leak in the PVC coming from her well - there is never a shortage of things to do. I am starting to hire out the un-fun jobs I am getting behind.
One of my elderly neighbors just put their house up for sale. The number one reason for leaving the active retirement community is to be closer to their children. I wish I could get my Mom to move into their house. . . it's hard to squeeze in a good days work with a 3 hour commute.
