52F and clear @ 22:45, very bright sunshine and clear skies today ... looks like the haze from the fires has cleared out here. Got warm enough at one point that I had to take off my long-sleeved shirt and go to pocket-tee only ...

All bird feeders filled ...

Bluebirds apparently have still not figured the mealworm feeder however ... :confused2:

Pin, washer, and retaining ring replaced on mower. Grass needs mowed ... The Woman was asking about it tonight ... looks like she wants some seat time tomorrow ...

Took water buffalo up to water grass seed - which is now up btw - around upper catch basin and found out WB was basically empty ... :(

Dropped it off back down at the house, will refill tomorrow.

Gathered up more debris from northeast planting bed and took that up to compost pile and covered it - along with some more grass clippings - with older compost. The older compost was steaming when I dug it out ...

Got some soil re-screened, hauled three bucket loads down to the southeast planting bed, took one bucket that I dug out from dry creek bed down there back up to be screened.

Broke open the 4th bale of peat moss and worked some in, in one of the large planting holes. This hole needs some screened compost added to it, as it's low.

Cleaned out around another azalea, got it pruned, soil sulphur and peat moss worked in, but not watered. That emptied the 2nd bag of soil sulphur.

Hauled down another three bucket loads of mulch from the pile over in the woods:

... under the watchful gaze of a local resident:

After spreading some of that out, I used the weed burner to toast the weeds around another large planting hole and about 15' of the edge of this bed.

About that time (20:00) it was getting too dark to see, so I spent a few minutes just sitting in the chair, enjoying the twilight and the coolness of the evening before heading in and fixing dinner.

Hope everyone had a great day.

The wifey and I had a date Saturday. Her birthday is Sunday. We went to Fogo de Chau in Houston, and then she wanted to pick up some Dunkin' donuts for Sunday morning...She was mad that we couldn't go into the Dunkin' store to see what was available. But we got a dozen plain glazed , and an assortment for the 2nd dozen.

Believe it or not, the part of Houston we went to is in much better condition than Austin....(our other choice for fancy restaurants). I saw maybe 1 homeless, and zero encampments. I'm sure they are there in other parts of town.

Washed the Gator XUV 835m and took it for a spin. That thing sure is nice, I could only imagine how nice the cabbed model is for putting around.

Rodeo: I missed it, but they had the top calf ropers here for a benefit tournament. I believe there were around 50 of them, with past world champions. I like to watch them, when I have time.

Not planning on watching NFL on Sunday.

Some of RNG's haze has made it here. The Beta storm might hit near my hometown. Watching closely. Hopefully just mainly a rain event....but I guess 70mph winds (predicted) can tear up some stuff.

Nice pictures youz guyz.

I'm teaching Sunday school tomorrow, then helping usher. Daughter is running the slide projector.

I remember going to the dump, and someone had just tossed in 2 old tube TV's...I picked up a 1.5" rock and it bounced off the tube, so I got a baseball sized rock and let 'er rip. Implosion. I had a decent arm when I was young.

Prayers for those in need, and our country. Jay, Farmer, Rip too.

Morning all!
36 here going to 58. Still no furnace. Thank goodness for the pellet stove!
Got the mower off and the snow blower mounted to the rear of the tractor. Rearranged the garage so we can store everything out of the way. To cold to wash the cars so we will wait till next week when it is supposed to be warmer.
I think today will be a good do nothing day.
16 Thomas days and only 8 more actual work days to go!

good morning all.
54 degrees going up to 70 today, should be a nice sunny breezy day.

Kyle, please wish your wife Happy Birthday from all of us
Best wishes for Jay and Peg

up too early, worrying about the move North, haven't heard back from fireman neighbor confirming he can move my small amount of stored furniture and my car. Will rest much easier once
he gets back to me and will follow up with him today. Local movers don't seem very interested in going out of state, particularly on a small job like mine. And I'd also rather have someone I trust driving my car... Only three weeks away and I never like leaving things to last minute. If neighbor says yes, will go back to HF and pick up some more moving blankets on sale. Last big unknown on my list.

ordered a cordless phone answering machine from Amazon so I'd have it when I got there. Choice between AT&T, Panasonic and Vtech, lots of experience selling all three in my Radio Shack years ago. All good brands. Went with AT&T, made sure it had call blocking for robodialers. Unit I used to sell for 200 bucks now costs 70 with three cordless phones. I also have to buy a new tv when I get to PA and they are remarkably cheap too. I rarely watch tv so don't need the latest OLED or whatever, a smart 4k will be fine for me, and lots of brands out there. Sadly this is all disposable electronics, and winds up eventually on a pile in Indonesia...I've always bought Sony or Samsung before but now lots more choices. I do most of my video watching on the screen I'm looking at now, a 27 HP high rez monitor which I will hook back up to a Klipsch computer sound system in PA. Some of these tvs are now so big they completely dominate the room and I'm going into a small house. Funny how a 55 tv is now considered "small"...

Will go for a walk this morning and then not much planned. Hope you all have a nice Sunday.
