Nice pic, Ron.
As to where we would go, wife and I have discussed many times and always ended up thinking we are safest here.

Regular checkup at my GP today, all was well, for a change.

I got out a K-cup marked medium roast decaf, stuck it in the coffee maker, added my creamer and took a sip. A weird taste hit right away, I neglected to read the “Gone Bananas” on the label. How my wife drinks all those flavored coffees is beyond me.

Still cloudy and 69. Just got to do a grocery pickup at Walmart.

Gave dealer my serial numbers to order hydro oil cooler. Dealer told me he lost his mechanic and really backed up. Says hard to hire anyone as they are getting $20/hr just to sit at home on unemployment. Suspect our biggest available labor pool is the tourist industry types. Maybe a couple weeks before I get in.

Sounds like everyone involved is having a good doctor visit. 🤙

Got my colon screening results back, negative and good for another year. Decided to take the less invasive route this year where you just mail in a sample instead of drinking 5 gallons of misery and waking up just glad it’s over.

56F and "fair" @ 21:30, heading down to an overnight low of 40F. Brrrr ...

No transplanting done today, but reasonable progress nonetheless:

1. Three or four bucketloads of debris gathered up and hauled up to compost pile.

2. Two azaleas weeded, pruned, soil sulphur and peat moss added and worked and watered in. Two more to go in this planting bed.

3. Weeds around planting holes torched.

4. Another 7 or 8 bucketloads of mulch hauled down and spread:

IMG_8705 copy.jpg

The ash tree (foreground, left) is dead and needs cut down. There's probably at least another dozen in various places around the property that need the same.

Located four 1/2" x 12" rebar that had been used as stakes when the arborvitaes were originally transplanted ... fortunately before I drove over any of them and put a hole in a tire. Got one pulled up, three more to go.

Also located 4 or 5 small oak trees that the chipmunks have helpfully planted. May transplant those this weekend.

Discovered that not all the hosta have failed to survive due to being pruned by the deer and a lack of water ... some are still hanging on. They will get mulched this time around which hopefully should help ... at least with the water.

The yellow jacket nest was gone by the time I got up there today ... looks like someone found themselves a snack ...

Got cold enough this evening with the wind that my nose was actually running. Probably didn't help that I was sitting on the ground ...

Found this on craigslist ... it's about 15 miles south of me:

Commercial Leaf Vac Vacuum - farm & garden - by owner - sale

Probably not unreasonable, given the apparent condition and what they cost new.

Hope everyone had a great day.

Good evening all. 63F for the start, mostly overcast, calm wind. Light wind in morning, moderate this afternoon, sky clearing through most of day, and high temp was 83F. bike ride to start the day, then walk with wife, nap in afternoon and update new speedo on Peugeot. Will cool for tomorrow ride at start :).
Covid update: Cooke 395 confirmed cases, 31 active cases, Montague 164 confirmed cases, 12 active cases, Grayson 1772 confirmed cases, 92 active cases.
RS love your progress, cool pic of the yellow jackets.
Phil, understand, retired in January, so nothing to prep for, but was waking up without the alarm!
Rich got to fly a Mining professor around for 4 days, was in two mines, He had just developed a new roof bolt and was trying to get people to try it, had about 50 bolts in the back to start the trip.
Ron if you sleep on them, it counts. nice flower pic
Thomas you had a 24" Zenith new in the box?
Don kinda hard to pull plants still producing, isn't it:)
Randy glad you did not get flooded.
Drew Nasty looking fella
Ted 3 dollar bearings, no wonder they went out. Have fun fixing everything and redoing the bed
RNG hope you hear from smog shop. much better air numbers, and good trip to town, now if the alternator light would behave :)
Chris sorry about the rear end accident, I guess they got the worst end of it hitting your toe ball.
Dennis nice pic
Grew nice graph looking good
PJ have fun shopping for utv. When we had 3 acres wife would tag team mow before her bout with cancer.
RS with your lower temps I would think the grass would slow down a little. Hope you heal up from fall.
Kyle had a Kaw 500 triple someone had converted to points ignition when the electronic ignition failed. Had points ( and coils) from three different engines, got a breaker plate from junkyard of a 500 that had points and used factory points after that worked well.
Randy that must have been a very rude shock. Neither of us drink fancy coffee.
David nice pic
RS shame with the ash tree, we had on close to the old house and had it taken down. Nice progress the plantings should look real nice in a year or two.
prayers for all, especially Drew/move, Jay/Peg, Kyle's daughter, Mike, David(moss) move/sale, RNG/fire, and Country.
stay safe and healthy, you all.

Good morning, I have been making the most of this dry weather by starting the first mortar mix before breakfast these last few days. Today was to have been a welcome break with the grandkids coming. That has now been cancelled because some children in my daughter's class had to be sent home from school. With Covid-19 cases rapidly increasing throughout the country this last week, she doesn't want to risk passing anything on to us until she hears the test results.

RS.... "The Hosta man"... kinda has a neat ring to it!
LS, alas, soon the leaves on his favourite plant will be dying back until next year. Did you know that RS walks up to each and every one of them and with his best Arnold Schwarzenegger impression, tenderly say farewell with the words ... "Hosta la vista, baby". :)

PJ, I agree about scythes being fascinating. One of the real skills with them (which I haven't mastered) is how to put on a good edge without removing metal. The honing stone has to be used regularly, then the not so obvious secret is peening with a hammer to keep stretching out the blade. Peening and Sharpening - Scythe Cymru

Good morning. Over the last 2 days I mowed the front and west side. In the back the crew has a pile of tree limb and logs to remove. Water oaks, they only last 30-40 years and they showed a lot of damage already. Hate to see any tree cut down tho.
The east side has most of the trees, I stopped counting. Costs us approx. 800 per to down and remove. Ugh. 3 down cause they were leaning and suspect and to make room for the barn and horse stall. Another 2 need to come down later, where the shed is, they are also pretty iffy looking and leaning.
Well 1 & 1/2 of our 3 acres took me hour and a half and couple gallons of gas. The "dressage court" seemed to go on forever. Back and forth, back and forth, ... repeat. 54" deck is earning it's oats!

61 out now going up only to 68, cloudy and windy day, but dry for next week.
Farmers need that to dry out from TS Sally.

David, good news on screening, colorectal cancer is a big deal, we can't ignore it. Glad there is a less obnoxious alternative test.
Chuck, tree surgeons seem to place an emphasis on the "surgeon" part and charge accordingly. But with tall trees or leaners near the home or barn, really need to get a pro.
Mostly, sounds like nice weather for a ride.
Thomas, moose pics would be cool

have been up most of night with headache, guess I'll have the chemo blues for awhile but at least this is the last of it.
going to shower and go out for a nice walk on a cool morning
little Vornado heater on in rv keeping things comfortable here.
Have a nice weekend guys

Felt good outside at 49 and a breeze. Only looking for 64 today.

Wife and I went for a nice walk yesterday...saw some interesting mushrooms after the recent rains. Our big black snake was on the back steps yesterday...we think it comes around the house in the fall looking for a way to get under the house, which it has done before. My wife doesn't like the idea, but I think they make better mousers than cats, so I'm neutral.

Got some mowing and maybe a little chain saw work today.

   / Good morning!!!! #118,996
Leaners are a concern. One neighbor, not near, had one fall on house and car.

Poured first cup of hot coffee. 30° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 62° with plenty of sun. Little frost on the pumpkins this morning. Shopping trip went well. Did not get trimming done. Back on list for today when it warms up a little.
Covid 19 update. Michigan cases 127,500. Deaths 6,954. Oakland county cases 19,828. Deaths 1,191. Total test in Michigan 3,602,456. Oakland County 417,011.
Put bird feeders out and the birds will come.

Drew, more good news health reports.

RS, glad bees are gone. Gardens are looking good. Another week of 11%. I have a new weed torch. Need to use it on fencelike. Today may be the day. Warmth and weed control at one time.

LS, lots of putter projects. Hope they all workout.

Eric, GK cancel not good. Hope they are all negative.

David, good results. I wonder after 5 camera probes that showed nothing. Maybe I should ask for mail in. :confused3: Picture is great.

Randy, I am with you on the flavored coffee's. They all leave a smell that seems to linger all day.

Thomas, good you got your conserve energy day.

Buckeye, neat flower picture.

Don, winter planting?

Everyone be healthy and safe.

Good Morning All.

32 right now...high in the mid-50's today. Some frost, but not too bad
Chores: Dump Run, finish up replacing the curtain rods...those are the priorities. Wanted to get a haircut, but the barbershop never returned my call for an appointment.
Don't see any need for mowing the lawn this weekend, but getting the chipper in the shed is a chore for this afternoon or tomorrow
