Good morning!!!!

Good morning to all! Low of 42, going up to 80. Temps moderate to our "average" of 82 all next week. No rain chances.... not good. Severe drought areas will be growing....

I ran a few errands yesterday, spotted boneless chicken breasts for $.89 lb..... stocked up on those, about 36 lbs worth, (integral part of dog food). Then picked up boneless pork roasts for $.99 lb..... stocked up with 20lbs of those (for the peoples). Dozen white corn on the cob, misc other stuff.

Helped the wifey grind all the chicken and package for freezer, put everything else away.

I decided to take advantage of the little bit of moisture still left in the soil, and mow the weeds around the house (about an acre). When I went to get the garden tractor out of the shed, both back tires were flat, and the battery was dead.... so, got the charger hooked up, portable air tank to fill the tires enough to get it to the shop, and wait until the battery had enough juice to turn it over. Mowing was still really kicking up a lot of dust, much more than I expected. Probably the last time I will have to do it this year.

I bought the Craftsman Garden tractor in 1997, only thing I ever had to replace on it were the blades and the battery one time.... I guess I have gotten my use out of it, considering I used it as a field mower for about 10 of those years. I think it needs a new carb, surges when not under load and gets hot while mowing. I think it is running really lean, especially at our altitude. I tried all the carb cleaning tricks / additives to no avail....

I am hoping to get my hands on my neighbors new Cub Cadet.... she bought it 1 1/2 years ago and used it one time! I heard that she might want to sell it ....at about half of what she paid for it.

Started to work on the training wheels on my grandson's bike, then my son (his father) got home from work early.... we both took on the project...
A little bit of welding some tabs on the brackets, searching through the bolt bins, and got them mounted up with no modifications to the bike needed! Of course my grandson was instantly on it and trying it out for about an hour.... he did really good! I am sure he will be practicing again today.

While outside yesterday, noticed an anomaly in the sky... the north half was clear and blue, the south half was very thick haze /heavy cloud cover. There was a very distinct "line across the sky". Interesting to say the least. Found out later it was where the jet-stream was clearing out the California smoke.

The smoke has settled back in over the area this morning. A true shame that so many have lost everything in a matter of hours.

Everyone have a great day!

63-75 today, dew point is 57, feels like fall.
Sitting on the deck with Gracie and one of the outdoor kitties, it’s almost too cool with the breeze and the awning up.

After three months of no Afib, the recent change in meds has caused a recurrence. Might be headed for a pacemaker eventually. Oh well, if that’s what is, it is.

Trying to decide if I want to dress my driveway, spray weeds or do more boring garage cleanup.

Y’all have a great day blessed by the master.

Oh, forgot to mention.... the snow and colt temps we got broke two records.... both the coldest ever on record for Sept 9th, and the earliest snow recorded, the old record was Sept 17th.

It is all my fault.... I purchased all those pellets for the stove last weekend..... I had to start using them already....Had to fired up the stove yesterday .....

You started global cooling all by yourself. :)

Got my fingers in the mud today and finished the root trench and barrier. I will be so sore tomorrow.

Wonderful weather today, cloudy with the high of 68˚F, now it's 62˚F, time for a Whipper walk.

Kyle, they have lifted the burn ban in your county.

Yes Sir! http://www.co.lee.tx.us/upload/page/5434/rescinding091020.pdf
Glad you got your trenching done in the cool.

I ordered a pair of bifocal safety glasses from Amazon last weekend, and they came in this week. Wearing them at work for the first time today, and the blurry area at the bottom while walking is going to take some getting used to, that's for sure. I have to admit, though, that the ease of reading small print on a drawing makes it worth the trouble.

Welcome to the readers club.....I waited until age 47 ish to get my first pair.

wngsprd glad Coco got to go for walk

76 light rain cool all day high pretty much where it is now. LaNina coming no winter for my neck of woods but a Thomas and Roy lots of snow and cold too

Today get batteries for service truck, haircut look at jobs all fun stuff

Prayers for riptides, Jay and wife,MFW and move, Kyles daughter, Drew, our country

Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts y'all!

Sounds like that would make a good song.

Who ever heard of a dump closed on Labor Day? You could of found another place to dump the garbage. And then go back to Roy’s for another dinner the couldn’t be beat. Do you have an officer Obie?
We can call the song “you can get anything you want at Roy’s Restaurant “

I was wondering if anyone played Alice's Restaurant whilst making a dump run.

On my commute, had a young gal pull out in front of me in a 60mph zone....I locked all tires, and then she realized her mistake and swerved, as I swerved, and missed by a few feet. I had my headlights on, it was an hour since sunup, and no sun in her eyes....Well, a sort of mad almost cursing will probably someday, be my last words...with all the driving I do.....much of it on undivided lanes.

Been hard to get online here. I've gotten a lot of work put on my plate at work, and they want it sooner the better....so I won't be on here as much as I'd like.

Mostly, yes, that was a young person I'm particularly fond of.

Sodamo, hope your baby sitting pays off with another fine loved one.

RNG, hope all your hard work towards fire mitigation won't have to be tested. Really wished your firetruck was fail safe, plus you have some O2 if you need it in your welding torch.

Ron, great pics. 'cept the squirrel neck....maybe a talon wound?

Rick, nice rock paint. I've been caged inside too much to appreciate the cool.

Prayers for all our team....

N95 mask first line of protection but lots of nasty chemicals floating around
My sister has four hepa air cleaners running at all times in her house in CA. I told her she had better stock up
on replacement filters.

79 and very cloudy out

Ted, the Cub Cadet I bought had very heavy steering and front tires dug up lawn on sharp turns. Try it out.

Good Morning!!!! 69F @ 8:15AM. Partly cloudy skies. Expect widespread areas of smoke and haze, reducing visibility at times. High 91F. Winds light and variable.
This morning's AQI is down to 441, better than yesterday's 600, but still awful.
The ten day is showing daytime highs in the low 90s and mid 80s, with light and variable winds.
The satellite IR map is showing increased activity on Bloomer Mountain, the closest the fire got. There was some mention of back firing operations being used in yesterday's press conference, but I don't know if it's being used there. The coverage of this fire is very poor in terms of keep us informed of where the fire is and what's being done to contain it.

Nice job on the training wheels, Ted. Opens up a whole new world for the grandkid. With all that dust, you've probably got a partially clogged jet in the mower's carb, and it'll take a stiff bristle or wire to clear it.

Time to get the Red Rider out after that sparrow, Ron.

2550 confirmed CV19 cases in the county, but the health offices are in Oroville and are closed, so they're not updating any of the other info.

Still wearing the N95 mask whenever I'm outside, Don. The air is really nasty out there now. Weatherman said last night we might get some relief next week with the passage of a low pressure system, but then he also mentioned rain that isn't showing in the WU forecast.

You could try changing the WiFi password, Drew. Or get Verizon tech support on the phone and make sure there's not some sort of administrative snafu going on.

If LaNina comes, it'll be a wet winter here. Not good for the burn zones; it means mud slides in the mountains.

I'd thought about the POBox dodge, Jim, and might look farther into it if the Russian connection peters out. Thanks!

There is a Pressure Relief Valve (top row of controls, left end), but it doesn't seem to have any effect, Rick. At most I've seen 45 PSI on the gauge. It's set up to draft water from the 2500 drinking water tank, and the fill valve to the onboard tank is closed. Water is making it out the end of the hose, so the lines are primed, there's just no pressure...

Neat story, Bird. What a life!

Somewhere around here, Paul, I have a pair of safety glasses with bifocals both top and bottom. Very nice when working overhead, very distracting the rest of the time!

Checked with my bodyshop neighbor yesterday morning and found there were no roadblocks or checkpoints on the way to town, so went in and got some fresh vegetables and the fittings needed to install the evap plumbing on the van. The alternator light is still coming on, but the battery is charging, and the voltmeter on the dash is registering a normal 13-14VDC. So depending on how bad the air is out there, I might spend some time on that today.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend...

RNG, I sent pic and your description to my ex neighbor, a long time engineer in paid local fire company, will see if he has any suggestions.
Question is did you ever see more than that pressure? Could seals to Waterous pump be shot? Some line plugged with junk?

...

Yes, it all starts with a dump closed on a holiday, and before you know it, officer Obie is there taking those 8x10 full color photos with the circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what it meant. Then it becomes a movement.

Went to grab something from barn, and decided to mow in front next to where my son parks, since his car was there last time.
Pretty wet, but kept going and mowed the front.
Then finally got mower blades off, had to pull out longer handled 1/2” ratchet. Had wife stay near while reaching for middle blade. Was using mower lift that has a safety catch, and I also put something under it.
Putting back on it got very hard to turn, had to put wrench on top side to hold it. Then it got easy, then hard again. After I got it on I realized it was probably the washers not being centered. Next one I held the washers under the blade up tight while screwing in bolt, no problem.

Then mowed back and field.
Overcast, looks like rain but none yet.
