77F and partly cloudy @ 23:00. High reached 84F with 91% humidity. Looking forward to the coming cool down ... but not the wet ground that will probably accompany it.

Rain headed in around 04:00, calling for heavy torrential downpours at times. Should abate by 12:00 tomorrow.

UPS dropped off rubber spacers from McMaster ... liking the next day delivery time with normal Ground service ...

Got them put on and got the seat moved back another 1"+ ... and still have some clearance behind it.

Mowing around house done.

Another 6 holes dug and hosta planted.

Have been seeing quite a few bluebirds up around the shed and nest box no. 4 ... might be this year's crop ... :confused3: ... so I put out some meal worms in the meal worm feeder for a little send-off gift ... :D

Hope everyone had a great day ...

My Honeywell app to use my thermostats on the web has lost my account again. It won’t login and when I use the “forgot password” it doesn’t accept my email account. This happened a year ago and I had to create a new account.

Mostly I would say warmer than normal and dry. Greenland is in the cooler now suggest area where coldest air will be. In the US colder air will be in our northern states with wet weathermakers running across country exiting thru Va

Prayers for riptides, Kyles daughter, Jay and wife, RNG, Drew and all others

good morning all.
A cool 67 out going up to mid 80's today in what should be a nice day.
not much planned for today except leaving mid afternoon to pick up a pizza and then take it to friend with
home on the River, like before, where she will do my laundry if I bring dinner and wine. A fine deal...and we can sit outside on her porch
with river breezes and not have to wear masks. Inside though, the masks come on, she does a lot more socializing than I do and I can't take
any chances.

David, your cat looks like it's saying "c'mon let's play!" I hope they all get along
RS, happy well fed bluebirds

60 going to 83 and lots of stars shining outside.

RNG, good luck on the fire truck fix. Sounds like some experts here.

Thomas, looks like Boo is very comfortable around your place.

Rick, nice clean up.

Weather improved yesterday so I got a couple more areas tilled and planted. I need to invest in a better hand held seeder. Some of the seeds are so large and odd shaped that they clog the seed drop hole, so I'm violently shaking the hopper with one arm the whole time I'm turning the spreader handle with the other. The only remedy is to pour fewer seeds into the hopper, but then the trade off is too many return trips to the seed bag. Of course the real solution is a $6K 3-point seeder, but I'll pass on that. The food plots I planted on 9/5 have already germinated and first set of leaves opened.

While parking the tractor, my wife walked over and told me the power was out. So I decided to mow for an hour since with no power, there is no water for a shower. Saw the electric company bucket truck parked up at the neighbor's drive a few minutes later and then lights on in our house. The "power restored" text said that the outage was animal-caused. Maybe it was that flock of a thousand blackbirds that I saw on the power line over the neighbor's recently harvested millet field. :)

Enjoy your day!

Coffee is done brewing. 65ー with rain this morning. Heading to 74ー with sunny skies. Got mower blades sharpened. Then cut lawn yesterday. Celebrate youngest GD birthday today. Turns 16.
I am being attached by fruit flies. Have not found the source yet. But working on it.
Took this picture of garden pond waterfalls yesterday.

Buckeye, does your thermostat use Redlink? Mine has been trouble free for 3 years.

Rick, you make it look easy.

RNG, it always amazes me info available form the Good Morning Group. Hope you get fire truck working the way it should.

Wingsprd, I have a pull behind seeder that work very well for your type of project.

Drew, enjoy your sit on the porch.

Buppies, I see wet for my area. Am I reading it wrong?

Mostly, Lobster for dinner. :cool2:

RS, I keep seeing Bluebirds at my house also. Must be checking them out for next year. Hummingbirds must have headed south.

Thomas, are you doing ceiling painting?

David, Sassy is right size to be friends with Makani. She has no fear of large dogs. She will tell neighbors German Shepherd to knock it off. And he does.

LS, good find on chicken.

Prayers and best wishes for everyone.

Good Morning All.

49 right now...cool enough to pull a pajama top out...
High right around 70.

Did the trimming, chipping and mowing. The only casualty was when the chain of the saw got pinched when removing one branch I'd missed. Pulled the chain right off the bar. I finished the saw work with the pole saw.
It's curtain rod day today! Three windows to do...one picture window (about 80" wide) and two regular sized (haven't measured them, but look to be about 34-36 inches or thereabouts.

The Connemara went great with the cigar! Really enjoyed that on a very pleasant afternoon...
I'm normally early to bed (rarely later than 10, and much earlier on work days), but found tw0 Burt Lancaster westerns from the 1970's on YouTube...The first was "Valdez is Coming", the second "Lawman". Both good..."Lawman" was a pretty grim western. Neither are classics, but both worth a watch, if you enjoy westerns

Morning all.

Spent last evening discovering what I was afraid was mouse damage is actually a bad ignition switch on my DK50. Now I gotta find a new one asap.

Spent the morning largely frustrated shopping for various type of moving equipment, dollies, tie downs, etc. as I have a LOT of equipment to move... Frustrating because I'm returning most everything I bought thus far.

Feeling frustrated I cannot make more more progress on finishing up packing.

This too shall pass.

Be well all,
David

Good Morning! 69F @ 5:15AM. Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. Expect widespread areas of smoke and haze, reducing visibility at times. High 92F. Winds light and variable.
The closest fires really sparked up yesterday, sending the AQI skyrocketing to a new 680 high. That's hundreds of points off the scale! Also got the new inside sensor going, and immediately turned red with a 200 AQI. That's hazardous if breathed for more than 24 hours, so it's no wonder I've had a headache the past few days. Time to change the filter on the furnace/AC, but I doubt that'll do any good. Anybody got a favorite air filter to recommend?:confused3: Wait, my Dyson has a HEPA filter in it. Maybe I should turn it on its side and let it run for an hour?

The falls and pond are looking good, Ron. Is that a weather station I see on top?

Saw two lizards in the garage yesterday. One a skink, the ones with the long blue tails. The other was a fence lizard, but I don't think it was one of the pets. It didn't come for it's meal worm, and had a hard time swallowing the one I tossed its way. Like it had never had one before. No way I was leaving the garage open in this crappy air, so I set an old coffee can lid down and filled it with water. I'll be keeping an eye out and try to feed them, too.

I wouldn't be too quick to jump on the three point seeder, Billy. I borrowed my neighbors to seed an erosion control mix here, and the tiny clover seeds self sorted to the bottom of the hopper and all came out in the first fifty feet. Then it was the rye's turn, then the barley at the end. It also had problems feeding when the tractor was on a side hill. I got much better results fastening a 5 gallon bucket around my neck and throwing seeds out by hand, Johnny Appleseed style.:confused2: Electricity wise, one of our many fires recently was caused by a bird hitting a power line, bursting into flame, and landing in a bed of dry grass. Fortunately, they caught that one at just an acre or so.

Thanks for the firetruck tips, gang. Tom, I also took the strainer on the relief valve out, and it had just a few flecks of rust on it that were easily brushed off. The "Compound" gauge on the left only reads a PSI or two, even when the "Pressure" gauge on the right is at 80 PSI. The compound gauge doesn't seem to move at all, even with the discharge valve closed. Rick, I did flush the hose reel with the nozzle off, and got a stream of nice, clean water. But that water still has rust flakes in it, so more flushing is needed. Ivory Soap is on the grocery list for next week.

Sounds like you're really hitting your stride, Bruce. 16MPH average is moving right along!

Looks like the new guy is fitting right in, David.

Hope you get caught up at work, Kyle. When it rains, it pours, huh?:(

Also hope you get enough new work to keep your crew busy, Buppies. More makin' hay while the sun shines!

We have a new team of webmasters for our motorcycle club's website, and the new version went on line yesterday. It's kinda buggy and slow, but at least it's not my problem anymore.

Also heard that another of my motorcycle buddies that lived in Berry Creek made it out of the fire OK. Don't think there's anything left of his cabin, though, nor the rest of the little village, either.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend!

Try McMaster-Carr, David. If they don't sell it, chances are you don't need it. Fast delivery, too, right RS?

Thanks Yes it is. La Crosse $60 from Sam's Club. Over 2 years old. I bought a second one if this one died. It's 2 year extended warranty is about to expire. :confused3:

Ron, pond and falls is pretty. I always wanted a water feature but never got a round tuit.

I noticed a few new acorns on ground when mowing yesterday. Sun is out today, supposed to be a good bit warmer than yesterday.

63-81 today, after a lovely 75 yesterday. Next week looks like 70s dropping to 60s on the weekend. I guess fall is here.

Church starts indoor services this weekend, limits, masks and distancing. Still not sure how comfortable I am though.

Not sure what I’ll do after church, but there’s a beef and dumplings dinner waiting for me later.

Everyone be safe and enjoy this day.
