A lady friend that just passed away used to hand stitch all her quilts, none done by machine. Using a machine on a quilt was an insult to her.

My mother and my paternal grandmother made all our quilts when I was a kid, and I've helped stitching a bit in my preteen years. We had hooks dad mounted in the ceiling, so a quilt in progress could be pulled up over our heads when it wasn't being worked on, and lowered to the right height for a person to sit on a chair on either side of it to continue the work.

Ken you and Dennis/Buckeye are our resident appliance repairmen.
I have never bought an extended warranty except for electronics on my boat that I knew would get shaken around like mad.
And they never broke...
Having been in insurance business most of my life, and knowing the profit margin on those contracts, have firmly believed not to pay for insurance
on anything I can afford to fix. Which usually means anything under $1k, which is also deductible on home and cars.

another rental opportunity popped up today from little apt wanted ad I placed, and it looks like the best one so far.
Private, one floor, all renovated with new hvac, cable, garage, fireplace and nice deck out back looking into woods. No place for garden though, perhaps something small. Nice to have options. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/3523-River-Rd-Lumberville-PA-18933/9094626_zpid/

I agree, Drew, that looks like a really nice place. Two car garage, too! Wouldn't take much to put a planter or two on the back porch so you could raise some veggies and flowers, we all know how much you love keeping your fingers in the dirt. Be patient, the right place will come along because good things happen to good people.:2cents:

Got my fingers in the mud today and finished the root trench and barrier. I will be so sore tomorrow.

Wonderful weather today, cloudy with the high of 68˚F, now it's 62˚F, time for a Whipper walk.

Kyle, they have lifted the burn ban in your county.

I have my (old) oil burner/wood burner and my AC under contract. I fix everything else or buy when wife makes me.
Have fixed refrigerators, dish washers, and just recently replace motor and inverter board on my washing machine.
It matters how much effort you want to spend on fixing vs.calling and cost of repair.
Washing machine over $200
Fridge - about $30 every 2 years for hinges and other wear items
Dish Washer - $30 for new solenoid.

So made money fridge and dish washer, broke even on Washing machine for what it would cost for extended warranties.
Time is also a big issue, and if you will lose money by spending time fixing things, that needs to weigh in, I just use spare time so little cost to me.
I also like fixing things (as long as it's something within my ability) for the rest, I pay someone that can do it better :)

David-$50/month sounds very reasonable. Do they charge you any service fees ?

$50 a yr would be reasonable.

Colorado County Commissioners lifted our burn ban this morning. Got an alert on our VFD eDispatch app around noon.

Ken
That covers parts and labor. Never been charged additionally. It does seem that most any appnt runs around $200 and that’s per item, something I would be very very reluctant to pay. Parts prices seem inflated as well. Don’t know if same prices apply to customers not under the warranty plan. My hold out hope is for the day the parts are no longer available or repairable and we talk replacement item.

Other than this stuff, I fix myself. Sadly when it comes to many things these days it’s replace, not fixable.

Drew, looks like a contender. You don’t need a big garden just yet anyway.

Drew, nice looking Apt. hope you get it.

My son is breaking his Apt lease early and moving back home to save some money. He moved in right as the virus was starting, but was so eager to move he signed without consultation from me. I recommended too late he wait..turns out he was home most of the time and working from home. He could have done that here. His plan is to move to TN, probably Knoxville area. He has to stay with current company till May for 401k vesting.

some on and off rain, was-surprised to see 1.1” in gauge when I got home. Some heavy rain on way home. Some people found out at what speed their tires no longer held a wet road

Worked more unplanned overtime, hope I can get out early tomorrow to make up.

I’ve had to replace dishwasher rack once, couple stove burners, dryer temperature switch, dryer roller.
Did buy an extended warranty on my Visio tv. It’s lived past the extended warranty period now., so that was money wasted. Also bought drone replacement warranty, which will probably be wasted also.

Son said 2 students and 2 workers at his university now have Covid.

Sure getting dark earlier.

Glad RNG has done ok.
