The second project of the day was the tooth bar install on the tractor.... that too did not go as planned. The tooth bar was a perfect fit.... at the front cutting edge on the bucket only. Apparently LS tapers the buckets on the sides, getting smaller front to rear. There was no way to bend the side mounting bars to fit.

So, we cut off the tabs, put the bar in place, and re-welded the mounts back on to follow the angle. I'll drill the bucket and get it mounted after I finish cleaning up the shop.....

Everyone have a great day!

I didn't have that issue .. when I installed my Piranha Tooth Bar?

70ーF and .30 inches rain last 24 hours.

Another day piddling about. So tempting to jump on the tractor to mow the middle area but will give it another day.

Maybe a good day to play with my network.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

For some reason I just remembered a time several years ago when I fell off the ladder climbing up on a 988 Cat loader. I landed awkwardly and messed up my back. Made the mistake of listening to a co worker and going to chiropractor who made it worse. I finally went to our family doc and he gave me some pain pills and told me to not sit in a soft chair and that if my vehicle had the comfortable seats just coming into style back then to get one of the old fashioned cool cushions with the springs inside and woven fiber covering. That helped a lot but I was still in a lot of pain so my wife found an exercise on the computer that said to stand with your feet about shoulder width and your arms straight out to the sides. While standing as straight as possible you twist your body to the left as far as possible then to the right. Repeat this 50 times in each direction every morning. After the first session I was amazingly better and fine within a week. I stopped a couple of times when I thought I was all fixed up but would relapse after a short time so just made it a habit to do this exercise every morning first thing. Now I never have any back pain unless I do something really stupid which is easy for me to do.

Good luck and I feel for your bad back is no way to live.

Eric, the auto shift transmissions shift up when you don't want them to even in manual mode. They also 'hunt' for the right gear when they should be dropping two/three gears at a time. Some of the hills we deal with are huge (think Sheffield, UK).

I ran down Hwy 11, there might be more moose on 11, but the hills are easier than 17. I also brought 68,500 lbs of product with me, to be unloaded on Tuesday afternoon after buddy loads his load. (Tanks are full).
Grossing 115,800 lbs on big hills on 17 with a sick motor wasn't a good idea.
The hills where we are going now aren't as big.

Good morning! 73˚F. The tempest weather station is having hiccups. It goes off line then goes on line. It missed about half of the rain fall yesterday,( almost 1.5" total). It is plugged into the UPS so there is no interruption of power. The only other remedy's is to move the receiver closer to the window and away from the UPS. I have an email sent to Weatherflow. All their troubleshooting is to get the tempest on line but nothing tell what to do with an intermittent problem. RNG could figure it out but he's not a normal person.

Sounds like the rain may be interfering with the radio signal between the weather station and the base, Don. Is there any way to move the weather station closer to the base, or the base closer to the weather station?

Here's a link to a troubleshooting page, but I bet you've already gone through it.

It mentions a repeater, and it isn't clear to me if it's a repeater made by the same company as the weather station, or if it's a WiFi range extender on your network. If the former, and you don't already have one, you might consider getting one, especially if it's inconvenient to move either the weather station or the hub.

As for your "normal" comment, I'm not quite sure how I should take that.

David (MFW) I really like your new avatar. Your little girl reminds me a lot of our Grand daughter ...

Time together is never enough and they grow up way too fast.

Jim,

I also love that picture. I use it as the lock screen on my phone also. She is awesome. Your Grand daughter sounds pretty awesome also.

Yes, they grow up way too fast. Friday my son turns 35...

Time with my youngest daughter is extremely precious to me.

Be well.
David

72F and "fair" @ 12:00. 0% chance of precipitation today, 10% tonight, and 60% tomorrow.

The Lawn Mower has informed me she needs the MMM put on the Kubota - STAT !

Because the grass needs mowed and she's ready to get going on it ...

Hard to argue with that.

70°F and .05 inches rain.

Sunday - day of rest. Hmmmm, rest from taking it easy???? Wife says not to rush it, guess I’m not going to argue.

Prayers for all

Careful, RS, my Snap-On man sez he can tell when someone busted a non-impact socket with an impact wrench. But he still gives 'em a new one.

If you're not wailing on it, the likelihood of cratering one probably isn't real high ... ;)

So far, mine are holding up.

What are ya gonna do when you run out of stuff to plant?

That's probably a long, long time away ... sometime late next year ... at the very minimum.

Assuming all I do next summer is plant/transplant ...

Yesterday my son and I did some compressor maintenance and moved its location in the shop. He opened up the drain valve on the bottom (something that I always put off until tomorrow) and only a few drops oozed out. He then removed the entire valve assembly..... just a slight hiss and a few more drops.... mmmm.....

Then before I could tell him that what he was about to do wasn't a good idea, he shoved a small screwdriver up into the hole..... WHOOOOSSSHHHH!!!
He was instantly slimed with brown thick goo.... from his pant legs up to his head.... slicked his hair back like it was the 50's.....

I could not help but laugh out loud... hard! He even had to laugh after the initial shock wore off.... my guess is about a gallon of that gunk shot out in about 5 seconds.... there was a metal pan under the compressor which helped to perfectly direct the fluid at him....

We were still laughing about it a few hours later. It will be remembered for a long time..... one of those father / son stories for sure....

..

Can’t wait to see him post that video.

Eric, that’s worth considering. I discounted as I don’t wakeup with the pain. At one point I reasoned it was more after doing my bike, so next morning I skipped the bike, no difference. Wife has her own theories, but could just be trying to irritate me in wifey fashion.

Drew, when I lived on Oahu, the choice was pineapple or sugar cane, vast expanses of both. Pineapple near the post, cane near where I lived, both on the drive between.

Wngsprd that was my second attempt. 1st a couple weeks ago should have baked longer. Can’t really tell in pic but those are white pineapple. Heard they don’t ship well so not widely available. Sophie replants most of the crowns for her crop.
Next one gonna try chocolate cake.

Ha,
Nomal people do not connect their oscilloscope to their electrical panel or live in California.:D

I can move the hub closer to the station but them I'll have to get another UPS.

As a DIYer I致e put down or helped to put down 15 wood floors. My brother spent way over $100 on knee pads, don稚 work. I知 building a new house on slab and sooner or later will put down some kind o& floor.

If you go under the cabinets you will use a lot more material but won稚 have to be too careful with your end cuts.

In the past I致e always been redoing a floor, not new construction so I butt up to the cabinet kick plate and put down base.

1 thing I learned the hard way. If you are going over an existing wood floor, You must put down plywood first. I cheated once and went right over the osb. The osb drys out, the nails loosen and you got wavy floors! I also leave a little room on the ends cause, the floor moves!

If I were to put down a wooden floor on an existing wooden floor, I壇 nail it and glue it! Probably a waste of time and money but, no wavy floors!

Good luck

Thanks, haven’t decided what route to take yet

Buckeye, glad you got mower running.

Pretty sunrise.

Glad mower ran also. Will need new battery. Couldn’t get the clutch/brake switch out.

The white wires are open contacts that close with brake on. One wire comes from ignition switch, other goes to solenoid. I jumpered it at other ends of white wires to bypass, yet when I put a meter on it, it seems to be working. The other 2 wires interlock with seat switch.

I can move the hub closer to the station but them I'll have to get another UPS.

Before you do that, see if you can simulate the fault condition with a lawn sprinkler. If it only happens with the station is wet, it's probably a waterproofing issue. If the problem persists with a dry station, the rain drops are attenuating the radio signal.

If it's radio signal attenuation, find out what kind of radio signal it is. If the Tempest is using your WiFi network to communicate with its base station/hub, you can try adding a range extender to your WiFi network. They're fairly inexpensive, but pay close attention to the Amazon reviews because some of them get much better recommendations than most of the others. If the Tempest uses a proprietary radio link, and they make an extender, see what other Tempest users are saying about it on the Tempest themed user forums. If you're having problems, you're probably not the only one, and somebody else has probably already figured out a solution.

FWIW, Davis uses a proprietary radio link between their weather stations and the base unit, and the signal is quite strong. Here, the station is about 30' east of the garage, and the base unit is in the office, 70' west of the garage and through four walls, one of which is stucco with an embedded wire mesh that acts as a Faraday cage to attenuate radio signals.

And this normal person wouldn't be connecting an oscilloscope to his power panel if the contractor was competent enough to do it. I'll leave it at that, since this is a family forum...

FEL and box blade removed, MMM installed, air intake screens cleaned, engine oil, hydraulic fluid and front axle gear oil checked ... all systems nominal ...

Well, except the front double pivot bar for the MMM was missing a pin and the retaining ring.

Not sure how that could have escaped ... the pin should have been retained with the anti-scalp roller on there ... :confused3:

Will have to add those to the list, along with two more gauge wheels next week.
