51 right now and a much more pleasant low 70's as the high today. Looks like much of the country had a record breaking high temperature over the last day or so. Hopefully, that will be the worst of the Summer highs.
Probably start the weekly mowing this afternoon.

Cold is still hanging in there, but it's pretty much abated.
Not here... and good night!

The sun is making a bit of a surprise appearance this morning. A little extra solar warmth will do no harm as these last few days we have been at almost woodburner time temperatures.

Buppies, I bet your professional groundwork excavations went a lot quicker than my amateur efforts. When digging anywhere in a field, there is always the slight chance of finding buried treasure ( not that that's happened to me yet, the only finds I recall are odd bits of pottery and a sardine can). Around a farm building it's a sure bet that any metal finds are agricultural parts that were already useless when they got covered in concrete. I'm not sure if at the time it was done for reinforcing strength, or because it gave someone pleasure to think that one day some silly idiot like me would be spending an inordinate amount of time slowly getting it out again.

RS, you certainly had a lucky escape, fire and leaking petrol are not good to have around people. Makes me think, if (or when) we need to buy another ride on grass cutter, it would be safer to get one with a little diesel engine. Certainly then easier to refuel from the diesel storage tank.

Oops, just realized I said petrol. I know petrol is what you call "gas" - except someone here will remind me it costs us 4 times as much  What would you call oxygen, butane, propane etc ? do you think of them as a "gas", or do you have another word for something that has gone past it's liquid state ?

67 going to 88, maybe rain later...none yesterday, but enough humidity to feel like it.

Eric, they are all gas. Our petrol is actually named gasoline, but we shorten it to gas unless it would be confusing in context with those other true gases. Bought gas yesterday for $2.02, and saw it later for $1.99.

Early county meeting today.

Buckeye, I hope you had a chance to hike down and through Cliff Palace...amazing place. Keep the pics coming, and send some of that cold air you reported yesterday.

Poured fIrst cup of coffee. 65° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 84° with possibility of thunderstorms. Need to install cross braces on animal barn doors. Already checked. No birds nest in the way. Weatherman seems to be predicting weather for every place around me. But still no rain.
Julie, Welcome to Good Morning Thread.
Buckeye, great views. Panic attack going up hill. Not good. Glad wife was able to take over.
Hawkeye and Toppop, good news on weight loss.
Traeger grill report. Grilled a Tri-Tip roast yesterday. Came out great. Good flavor and meat was cooked all the way thru. Good smell from the wood pellets. I plan to smoke something in the future. Found that Costco sells pellets for cooking. Cheaper and larger bags. But for smoking may want to use apple or cherry. Menards sells a brand of cooking pellets much cheaper than Traeger brand.
Good Morning All.

70 going up to 91, hot day, thunderstorms in forecast for ten straight days. Well, it's summer time!
Julie, welcome aboard. Since you are from NY I'll include a picture a long time friend just sent me of his cabin in the Catskills, outside of Margaretville/Arkville off Rt 28.
Went up there every year for over forty years. And each year, some new critters, but always, always, Bob The Bear . He looks likes he wintered well.

Buppies, glad nothing came through the window. That must have made quite a bang. A little less profit on that job...can't imagine that happens often. At least the show went
on. Visions of me taking my cab tractor in the woods...

was thinking of asking Julie to take a pic of her home area and maybe a tractor, when I thought of the other amazing places seen here, including David/Sodamo's incredible view of the Pacific Ocean, Cat Fever's purple mountain majesty(more on that later) and while infrequent here DragonEggs amazing view of what I think is the Puget Sound. There are many others. I love hills and water and of course live on totally flat land...but I did have a lifetime of hills and rocks until recently.

I had to look up purple mountain majesty. Forgot the meaning of it. Got a lot of hits for Crayola crayons, they make a purple crayon in that shade it appears. Been awhile for me and crayons...:D
Well it appears this term, of course from the Song America The Beautiful, came from the color of the mountains around Pike's Peak Colorado. Which also happens to be where the famous car hill climb is. Sounds like several good reasons to visit.

Very pretty scenery Buckeye! I'm in the school that likes the trees better than the windmills. If they were actually beneficial I'd like them better. But that sounds like politics, so I digress.
Pretty day here, much cooler than yesterday's 95.
