I'm considering doing some hardwood flooring. Would like to see pics of the install. Will they transition at doorways, or keep running into other rooms?

Here is a pic of wood to wood, wood to tile, and wood to carpet.

Thomas, Boo deserves some special treats after splitting all that firewood for you. In Virginia, it is illegal to feed bears, and don't think I'd want to do it, but they are fun to see, from a distance. It is also illegal to feed deer during the period from September 1 to the first Saturday in January, which I quit doing altogether last year since it was attracting bears :). Just feeding the birds and chipmunks now.
-----------------------------
Yep good help hard to get now a days. ;)
I am not to keen on the idea Mrs. put sign table also light.

"Just feeding the birds and chipmunks now."
So what do you do or say keep the bear away from bird chipmunk food.?

Good morning 73 going up to 93-ouch and sunny
Keep calling for sudden storms-but nothing so far-looks like Friday night will get some weather action here.

Got another 2 feet of pipe under shed dug out, no break found so far.

Drew great to here your checkup went so well

A co worker of mine went away last weekend-someone I dealt with a lot and got along with quite well-found out yesterday he died over the weekend.
He was only a year or so older than me and was in good health-don't know what happened yet-quite a shock-

Stay safe and be well and our thoughts for those in the path of the hurricane

Good morning to all! Yep, same story, no changes to weather ... yet. Supposed to cool of down into the upper 80s this weekend, with a good chance of showers... we'll see....

Drew, I hope you are able to get all those bills straightened out. They can take it fast, but always a pain to get it back!

Ken, sorry to hear about your coworker. Sad , but makes us think.....

Thomas, great pics! You should start advertising as a wildlife preserve and charge "donations" for critter food.

Hope all bearing the brunt of Laura are able to stay safe!

Today continues with some shop time. Pics of the project to follow ..... I decided to run a new 220v circuit, so project work is intermittent. My metal chop saw gave up the gearbox yesterday, so cutting is now by hand with a grinder....

Everyone have a great day!

that looks really nice Don

it is illegal to feed

when we lived aboard our boat in Aventura (North of Miami) my wife was a major
rule breaker. Every day for over a year a mother manatee and sometimes her baby too would make their way to the swim platform of our
boat, and my wife would spend hours slowly feeding them romaine lettuce leaves and thinly sliced apples. They had no teeth so they basically gummed
the food to mush. They would not eat cheaper iceberg lettuce, discerning manatees.. They would also drink from a water hose we would dangle into the brackish water, they just loved fresh water.
Since they were coming into our marina anyway I didn't feel too badly about it, whole area was littered with Slow Manatee Zones. My wife's favorite buddy had
prop marks on her back too, hard to see, hard to avoid. While the manatee would slowly rotate, my wife would take a boat brush and give the critter a nice rub down while
humorously chiding the animal "now how did you get so dirty?" I think it was just a nice massage for the gentle creature.

Good Morning!!!! 65F @ 7:30AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 94F. Winds light and variable.

You can always supply a little load with a heavy extension cord, Drew, but not the other way around. You might be able to take some of the sting out of the purchase by finding a used one on Craig's List or the like. Glad the chemo is still treating you OK, and your future is becoming clearer.

The older I get, the more "there but for the grace of God" moments I seem to be having, Ken. Hope you find the leak soon!

Hope your coffers continue to hold, Eric.

Good point about flu shot timing, Ron. Nice little buck, too. Do you know the difference between beer nuts and deer nuts? Beer nuts are $5.00/pound, while deer nuts are under a buck.:D

That station in Little Cypress would also need a satellite internet connection, Don, as all the others go down with the grid. That's about the only good thing I have to say about satellite internet.

Glad for the good news, RS. The spaghetti here last night was delicious, too.:licking:

Vanagon parts should ship this week, seller has been dealing with 115F temps in Las Vegas and that's slowing him down.

Got the new Ethernet cable pulled out to the generator pad, but it took many trips up and down the hill to tame the tangles. The shielded connectors showed up later in the day, and I got those on, too. It's a lot easier if you strip a couple inches of the outer insulation off first, then sort the wires to the proper order, and THEN trim them to length. The instructions aren't always correct.:muttering: Then the network tester showed up, two days from Germany and two weeks from Las Vegas? Whatever, it says there is a short in the original Ethernet cable 16 meters from one end. So I'll go looking for that later, just for grins. Got another access point up and running at the generator pad, and WiFi is now nice and strong on the back patio. Enjoyed watching speeches from the RNC while sipping a cool spirit; the smoke let up enough to see more blue sky and not feel the burning eyes and throat.

Walmart trucker neighbor has been hauling loads in Washington state, and enjoying the clean air and cooler temps. Says it's real pretty up there, but neither of us would be happy with the winters.

Town run today; won't get much else done.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

from Barksdale AF:
Fortunately we are off work today! All B-52s were flown elsewhere and our simulator schedule was cleared.
The eye wall will go right over us as a cat-1...power is still on but has gone off several times. Our utilities are buried so we aren't in as much trouble as Shreveport.

MFW if grading stone and asphalt not terrible if just asphalt only too high in my opinion

Buppies, I'm awaiting the revised quote, we marked stuff yesterday, but it is 3" stone, some clearing of weeds, some grading etc.

Do you work up in Stafford CO? I'm off exit 133. I would like to discuss with you on DM sometime a good cleanup and regravel of the back driveway, it is probably over 1/4 mile...

Be well sir!
David

Is this floating, pre finished or nailed down prefinished?

David, can't the buyers bail out anytime before closing losing only the earnest money. What other type of legal actions can be imposed on them? The earnest money should be held by the Title company and be released to you. You should not have to pay a lawyer to obtain it.

Technically they were fully approved. I've kicked out my tenant, I've bought another house. Technically I can sue them and force them to close. I only get their small earnest money immediately if I release them from litigation.

NO, buyers should not just change their minds at the end of a deal, and we should not allow it. Breaking a contract for no reason is not cool.

But I agreed and let them out of the deal. I get the EMD, and last night I had 5 showings.... Hoping for good news today...

Be well,
David

Good Morning.

80F and mostly cloudy @ 11:30, "feels like" 83F. 80% chance of precipitation for the day. Under a "Severe Storm Risk" Alert until 08:00 Friday morning.

First order of business this morning will be to swap bucket for pallet forks and unload van, then probably cut the longer piece of culvert in half with the Sawzall. That will give me three pieces of 12" culvert for the "bridge" ... which should be enough to handle a 100-year flow ... (Last time I tried this, I used some old metal culvert I had lying around that was of much smaller diameter and it did not work out well)

Then probably check transplants and clumps of hostas to see if they need watered (they seemed to be holding up fine so far) followed by putting the water hose on the big rhododendron - something I probably should have done before I ever tried digging out those original three that we transplanted.

After that probably go ahead and remove the FEL and stick the MMM on and get mowing done as the chances for rain go way up by 17:00.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

I have extra boxes of the strips of wood in the attic. It’s just wood no special backing installed on slab by builder.

75°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 87° today. 80s and humid is still better than 90s and humid (71% right now).

Looks like the rain we were expecting today has vanished from the forecast. I drove in and out of a couple of light rainfalls on the way home form work yesterday, but only enough to lightly wet things.

Our contractor has been back working on the pond project this week. Looks like they might wrap things up by tomorrow, now that the weather is no longer an issue.

Great news from your doctors, Drew.

"The best advice I was given about tinnitus was to just accept it as an inevitable constant background noise that I can never get rid of but can eventually become accustomed to. I was sceptical that I could ever do that, but after a few years I have just about come to terms with the fact that there will never be true silence again and now that does not annoy me anything like it once did."
This pretty much nails it, Eric. Same here.
Well, except now that everyone is talking about it again ...
For those who don't have the privilege of enjoying tinnitus, once you get to the point that you accept it, you learn to ignore it ... that is, until someone even just mentions the word, which causes that delicate veil to immediately fall away, and it's once again screaming at you with a vengence.

Good luck with your new crop of potential buyers, DavidMFW. It really is a nice-looking place. I expect it will sell quickly.

Paul, with your musical talents, does that bother you much? When you aren't thinking about it...
remember the story a ways back where I went to the Ram dealer and ordered a new door speaker, sure it had blown out.
No, it was the tinnitus. I have 80 percent hearing loss in left ear, not good on the "stereo" effect...headphones help though.

David/MFW, 1100 foot driveway with parking area, previously sandy gravel, resloped and paved, $16k, but after they left, they refused to come back and fix the
messed up edges. I wish Buppies had been closer...

After that probably go ahead and remove the FEL and stick the MMM on
that doesn't sound like plug and play RS. How long does that take you? Can you drive up on deck?

90/99 and getting hotter.

69°F and no rain. All you in path of Laura be safe.

Need a piece of flashing for roof, but likely have to make a trip to HD for that, not today.

Likely start another round of mowing, dogs area and driveway area to start.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

after looking at temps and seeing how hot and sunny out it was, lined up my face masks on dash of car and going to let them
bake all afternoon. Making lemonade out of lemons...

MFW a little far out for us. Should have minimum of 5 inches 21A pug mill stone asphalt 9.5AL for surface mix. I recommend 2inches compacted asphalt any more is just taking your money. Paver preferabley 20000 pounds three to five ton roller for compaction of mix. If you are planning to use heavy equipment on it specs would change. I also prefer low rap mix if possible. Hope this helps

PS I am about 4 or 5 hours from you
