Good Morning!!!! 71F @ 6:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High near 100F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Color me confused on the chain sharpener, Rick. The video link went to a Stihl product that uses files, while the Amazon link went to one that uses little stones. Then the ebay link goes to what looks like a Chinese knock off of the Stihl tool.

ullinghair: Which one are you using? I like the looks of the Stihl tool, not so much the plastic thingy with the stones.
:welcome: to GM, Mark! Didn't know Bushog made a tractor...:confused2:
Glad the neighbors are cool with Gray2's hunting, Don. Lots of folks, and I'm one of 'em, don't like finding kitty surprises in their flower beds...
Hope you find your flyswatter soon, Drew. I already know you'll enjoy your evening... Will you be sharpening mower blades for dessert?
Sounds like your battery picked the best of all possible times to fail, Billy, even though you got a bit of a workout. Could have taken a shopping cart, but you might have been confused with a homeless person trying to steal one...:confused3: "But officer, I was going to bring it right back!"
Sounds more like it's issues with the way various websites implement passwords, David, and not so much MacOS or iOS. Apple has always been the redheaded stepchild, and I don't think most software developers even test their products using Apple phones or computers. It's sure nice when they do, though, as I really like being able to login with a fingerprint. I've taken to requiring two factor authentication for my financial accounts, even though most of them have easy ways around it. Can't be too careful with my life savings...
That's a lot of hay, Eric. Where will you put it all?
Ron, do they make a Clapper that'll help you find your glasses? There's a thing called a Tile that uses RFID to do so...
We just slipped into severe drought up here too, Ted. Not unusual for this time of year. Fifties at night? I can only dream about that this time of year!

Got the hatch on the firetruck primed and painted yesterday in spite of the heat. Paint dried almost as soon as it hit, so maybe that's why I didn't get any runs. Almost forgot about having to weld one of the water lines back on first, then couldn't find the part, which made it even warmer up there when it was finally ready. Warm enough that it was time to spend the rest of the day in the A/C.
The smog referee called back, and it was really bad news. First he tells me that since I didn't use all the pieces in the motor swap kit, it wouldn't pass smog because they won't accept any deviations from the parts list specified on the Executive Order (EO) that covers the kit. Then he tells me that the Vanagon is classified as a truck, and I'm not allowed to put a Subaru car engine in it. So I thanked him for his time and started researching what he said. That involved tracking two separate "smog manuals", and finding the latest updated version of the EO. What I haven't found yet is the classification system by which the van is being called a truck. But what I did find is what seems to be an exception in the EO that allows parts substitution as long as it doesn't effect the effectiveness of emission control system, and substituting a bell housing for a mounting plate between engine and transaxle certainly does not. I also found contact info for the person/organization that is apparently making the rules, so there's another thread to pull on. Also got a call from a buddy that lives in Washington state, who turns out to be more than willing to help me establish residency up there and "rent" his mailbox to me to receive registration renewal notices...
Still need to get the oak floor grates back up on the firetruck this morning, and do a little more grading/gravel spreading on its parking spot, but I should be able to get that done and the truck moved off the driveway today. That'll be a relief.
Hope everyone has a restful but productive weekend!
