66* now with low humidity, where is summer........ That sharpener does have a good 4 star rating so someone likes it but I thought it only worked on a specific stile chain. In the mean time I'll just daydream on how to get this tractor............

Thanks. Always interested in better ways to keep the chains sharp.

Hope so. Commission Checks .. from Radiator Genie .. have tapered off from not much .. to even less.

Rick, on the New Holland, are those 32's or 34's on the rear?

   / Good morning!!!! #116,774

I prefer the top tractor, it looks like it gets used so that one must be the good one, the bottom one must be junk since all it gets is washed and waxed, washed so it can be fixed and waxed so it will sell and or give away to my charity.

That PetAZ Transparent Chainsaw Sharpener must be a new product, it appears that it's only sold by Amazon, so maybe it's only made by Amazon with Amazon package handlers in their spare time. I cant find a thing about it on youtube and youtube has everything.........

Good morning to all! Low went back into the mid 50's, nice sleeping temps. Highs around 90. The weather guessers have us pegged at 89 for an entire week.... strange to see the same temp across the 7 day forecast board. Zip, nada, zilch, zero chances of rain all next week! We are now in severe drought conditions. We should have around 7" total of rain by this time of the year, only 1.62" recorded officially.

Drew, enjoy your dinner / time socializing. Well deserved and needed after all you have been through.

Eric, that is a big crop of hay! Hope the weather cooperates with you to get it all baled.

Kyle, nice to hear you were able to enjoy having friends over. Nice to have a break from the daily routine.

Wng, 9" of rain! Wow. That is half of what we get all year! Any big trees go down?

Ron, somebody has to keep you on your toes.... just wait until Sassy starts hiding your keys!

I was able to complete the double gate in the fence yesterday, now the tractor can get in no problem. I was also able to make the "tiny" shelf for the wifey. Both shelves will get stained today, hung up tomorrow.

Next scheduled project completion is the doors for the end tables I had made. Remember them? It has been months since being sidetracked.... all the oak boards were selected and kept aside, metal sheet for the inserts moved multiple times.... time to get them completed! This is the enjoyable part of woodworking for me.

I hope everyone has an enjoyable day!

Good Morning!!!! 71F @ 6:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High near 100F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Color me confused on the chain sharpener, Rick. The video link went to a Stihl product that uses files, while the Amazon link went to one that uses little stones. Then the ebay link goes to what looks like a Chinese knock off of the Stihl tool. :pullinghair: Which one are you using? I like the looks of the Stihl tool, not so much the plastic thingy with the stones.

:welcome: to GM, Mark! Didn't know Bushog made a tractor...:confused2:

Glad the neighbors are cool with Gray2's hunting, Don. Lots of folks, and I'm one of 'em, don't like finding kitty surprises in their flower beds...

Hope you find your flyswatter soon, Drew. I already know you'll enjoy your evening... Will you be sharpening mower blades for dessert?

Sounds like your battery picked the best of all possible times to fail, Billy, even though you got a bit of a workout. Could have taken a shopping cart, but you might have been confused with a homeless person trying to steal one...:confused3: "But officer, I was going to bring it right back!"

Sounds more like it's issues with the way various websites implement passwords, David, and not so much MacOS or iOS. Apple has always been the redheaded stepchild, and I don't think most software developers even test their products using Apple phones or computers. It's sure nice when they do, though, as I really like being able to login with a fingerprint. I've taken to requiring two factor authentication for my financial accounts, even though most of them have easy ways around it. Can't be too careful with my life savings...

That's a lot of hay, Eric. Where will you put it all?

Ron, do they make a Clapper that'll help you find your glasses? There's a thing called a Tile that uses RFID to do so...

We just slipped into severe drought up here too, Ted. Not unusual for this time of year. Fifties at night? I can only dream about that this time of year!

Got the hatch on the firetruck primed and painted yesterday in spite of the heat. Paint dried almost as soon as it hit, so maybe that's why I didn't get any runs. Almost forgot about having to weld one of the water lines back on first, then couldn't find the part, which made it even warmer up there when it was finally ready. Warm enough that it was time to spend the rest of the day in the A/C.

The smog referee called back, and it was really bad news. First he tells me that since I didn't use all the pieces in the motor swap kit, it wouldn't pass smog because they won't accept any deviations from the parts list specified on the Executive Order (EO) that covers the kit. Then he tells me that the Vanagon is classified as a truck, and I'm not allowed to put a Subaru car engine in it. So I thanked him for his time and started researching what he said. That involved tracking two separate "smog manuals", and finding the latest updated version of the EO. What I haven't found yet is the classification system by which the van is being called a truck. But what I did find is what seems to be an exception in the EO that allows parts substitution as long as it doesn't effect the effectiveness of emission control system, and substituting a bell housing for a mounting plate between engine and transaxle certainly does not. I also found contact info for the person/organization that is apparently making the rules, so there's another thread to pull on. Also got a call from a buddy that lives in Washington state, who turns out to be more than willing to help me establish residency up there and "rent" his mailbox to me to receive registration renewal notices...

Still need to get the oak floor grates back up on the firetruck this morning, and do a little more grading/gravel spreading on its parking spot, but I should be able to get that done and the truck moved off the driveway today. That'll be a relief.

Hope everyone has a restful but productive weekend!

good morning all
looks like a cooler day today, 72 out now going up to 86 which is pretty nice for August
Last night just as neighbors came home and I could hear their voices, the heavens opened up (I admit I smiled at the good timing...)
and we had a half hour thunderstorm with a half inch of rain. No shortage of rain here for sure.

Finally going to do a little socializing for dinner tomorrow night, meeting lady friend at her house on Pamlico River, and I am picking up takeout Italian
for dinner. She sounded exhausted, still picking up sticks in her yard and powerwashing mud/crud out of her first floor basement. I did not offer to help, but
will bring the food and wine. She has multiple kids and grandkids in area, they can help her clean up the mess... We will sit out on her porch ten feet away from each other, and I will use my 3M N95 mask and we will be very careful. We are both huggers and know that won't do any more. I have to be very careful but she is a good friend and we both need a little socializing. First in four months for me. And my first glass of wine in that time. She is the retired 2nd grade schoolteacher I bought/finally gave to her a Cub Cadet LT2 mower as she had nothing and her push mower died. Now she happily drives this bright yellow lawn tractor she calls Bumblebee. Every day is an opportunity for kindness and so I know I did well here...

There was a second method to my madness here...taking my laundry over to do in her washer/dryer. So far I have avoided the coin op laundry which I'm betting are
not well sanitized and bug heaven. Maybe I can laundry mooch from someone once a week...

Randy, good advice, thanks. I learned to be an advocate taking care of Nadene, have seen malpractice committed on both of us now, Trust But Verify. Thank goodness so much is online, with WebMd, Cleveland Clinic, etc. They do a huge number of tests on me and I look up all the acronyms to see what they mean. Have a phone visit with endocrinologist on Tuesday and have a few questions for him. They put you on meds and then no one tells you when to get off them....a common problem I've had. So far all the docs have been happy with my progress, and despite my reservations, I agreed to the implantable heart monitor procedure next Thursday. It can't hurt, and I'll have matching bumps on my chest, one for the port and now one for this.

David, good news about Sophie's eyes. Vision is such a huge part of life, you don't want to be without it.

RS, in our disposable society where I seemed to be the only person who had a grinding wheel and sharpened my own lawn mower blades, vs just buying new ones, nice to see your bringing dented stuff back to life. Unless you hit a rock with a weakened blade, can't see any downside and in the meanwhile, you are ahead of the game. I simply enjoyed that "lettuce slicing" noise of using freshly sharpened blades, plus the lawn always looked nicer.

Buckeye, you need to have a doc look at your shoulder and maybe cool it on the projects for a little bit.
Have we heard from Riptides lately?
Jay, best wishes sent to you daily from all of us.
Hope you all have a good weekend.

I'm not sure what kind of monitor you are looking at but last February my cardiologist talked me into a monitor for my pulmonary hypertension. After my 23 year of experience with cardiologists I have learned they are mercenaries first and doctors on down the line so I questioned him about this thing and as it turned out he didn't know anything more about it than I did but he did a pretty good snow job and I agreed to it.

My main concern was it being a pain to have read and interpreted but he assured me several times that it was all wifi and I didn't have to do anything. After the catheterization procedure to implant the device in my pulmonary artery they moved me to the recovery room to lie still until the incision clotted up to where it wouldn't bleed. After about 2 hours this lady came into the room dragging this suitcase looking affair and started explaining it to my wife, I was supposed to lie on this hard plastic square contraption every day and turn it on to take it's readings and sent them to Abbot labs via wifi. None of this was mentioned before hand. It turned out to be a tremendous pain in the neck to get everything done and the readings sent and after 3 or 4 times of it developing problems I quit using it . In the time I was using it I got results from one weeks readings and that was after complaining to the Dr.'s office and being promised that I would be getting them regularly so that I could adjust my meds.
I finally gave up on it completely and sent the device back to them after explaining to their customer service people my complaints. Their only suggestion was to change cardiologists. I have enough experience with different cardiologists in both private practice and hospital settings I decided to stay with the devil I know rather than try yet another one.

To make an already too long story shorted your own research as much as possible and don't trust any one.

Jim Nelson; To make an already too long story shorted your own research as much as possible and don't trust any one.[/QUOTE said:
wow Jim that's very troubling. I was told no connection of monitor to anything in me, just a small incision, they slide the gizmo in and that's it, unlike my port used for chemo infusion which had to be connected to major vein/artery? in neck. They said I would go to cardiologist monthly and they would pull the data from the unit.
I sure am going to call on Monday and get confirmation on that. Greatly appreciate hearing your experience.
I had an external monitor used on me in hospital which was basically two sided tape to my skin and at end of two weeks I mailed the gadget back to company and they
created a report to my cardiologist. Which btw said zero AFib. I was told this new device was just a longer term version of that implanted under my skin for up to a year.
If it is anything but that, unlikely I will proceed.

70°F and .59 inches rain.

Just gonna take the day as it comes, not plan anything. That way I won’t be disappointed what I don’t get done. Hehe

Should be some stuff ready in the garden.

Be safe
Have a great day
