A cloudy 49ºF for today’s low @ 6:00AM and it is now a mix of sun and clouds and a humid 71ºF which was supposed to be today’s high temperature. It took me an hour this AM to water the gardens and I saw 2 amorous garter snakes in our herb garden 1 was ~12” the other ~16”. It is really dry here- the birds are fighting over the bird bath for water for themselves and their young. I may have to refill it a couple of times today. I might plant and stake the tomatoes today. I do know that I’ll be trying out the attachments on the my Stihl® 131R until I run out of fuel mix.

Mollala1- Good luck with your surgery.

Drew- My continued + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Eric- Thanks for the pictures.

Thomas- It’s been quiet around here lately, but I have a couple of very vocal dueling Barred Owls that like to disrupt my already disrupted sleep.

Mike- Our resident coy wolves have been quiet lately. I am not complaining.

RonJH Thanks for the frog picture. My accidental water feature has actually dried out. I really do not know what was buzzing me in the dark. It could have been bats; I do not suffer from auditory hallucinations at this point. Wifey told me yesterday that she was not hearing my Spring Peepers.

RNG- I’ve made effort to avoid listening/watching what is considered to be “news.” I get triggered by some of the C-19 BS and current events does not help. Maybe it’s all the late night WWI and WWII American Heroes Channel material I watch. I am sorry to read about your electricity challenges, good luck.

Paul- Thanks for sharing your project.

Ted- I like those old fashioned metal park benches. Good luck with the project, and thanks for the weather pictures. The past 2 “Big Weather Storm Events” failed to materialize here.

I hope that everyone is having a decent day.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

I finally got my flat tire fixed. Of course when I pulled the old tire the inside of the rim was pretty rusted. I hit it with the wire wheel , blasted it with rust reformer primer and painted it. Now the inside of the right front wheel is the best looking part of the tractor. If I am reading the date code right the old tire was made in 1979! guess that one served its time. I would have kept running it if not for the splits in the sidewall that were chewing the inner tube. Mounting the "new" tire was just as much of a struggle as I feared. I'm rolling again. So I rewarded myself with a couple of hours of bush hogging. Good times

Mollalla, good luck on big back operation. I was headed for that before getting sick.
found my soft collar today, wearing that, sure reduces neck pain, 7 inches of titanium in neck plus collar keeps me warmer
don't want to jinx myself but hearing grumblings about discharge plans, will believe it when I go out the door. Only going a mile or two away but at least my own private room and shower. Oh will that be happy days. they deliver three meals a day, has to be better than this.Learning how to clean my tubes, 5 separate steps with 5 cloths, non contaminated. Just need to go slowly and carefully. Not a time for mistakes, must continue to impress these folks I can manage myself.

I don't see that happening. I found some fiber dust masks in the shop. Pretty useless. I could not get them to seal. How does that keep you from breathing in dust?

Somewhere I saw a photo of a drywaller that had been wearing one of those dust masks, Chris. The area where his nose met his face was white with plaster where the mask was leaking. I don't think the improvised masks do much of anything to protect a person from virus, but they may do a little bit of good in catching droplets breathed out by the wearer. I think most vapor goes right through them, in either direction. Essentially, CDC is telling people to use what they can get, because all N95 production is going to those in "essential" jobs. The rest of us are screwed, unless we have already laid in a supply. And they want us to turn those in, too. Not a chance that's gonna happen, at least not in this household. WHO, on the other hand, is saying the improvised masks perform so marginally that they provide only a false sense of security to the wearer. And from that standpoint, they're no longer recommending wearing of such masks. But that leads to confusion, because the statements from them I've read don't distinguish between N95 masks and the rest of them.

I hope our military supply chain works better than the Mask supply chain or they will be issuing our troops rocks.

In a lot of ways, Drew, hospitals and convalescent homes are the same as jail. They take away all your money, all your clothes, give you limited access to phone and other communications, confine you to a room, and feed you food that doesn't taste very good and may even be bad for you. After all that, even getting a private room with a shower is indeed a luxury, so congratulations in getting back a tiny piece of your freedom.

Have you been paired with a social worker or councilor that is familiar with the eldercare options close to your home? That made a HUGE difference when I was going through similar circumstances with my parents.

Keep doing what you're doing. A rehab facility is obligated to discharge you when you "plateau", i.e. you're not making any further improvement. Just do your best to make sure you have a better place to land when they kick you out. In my experience, sometimes that can be in the wee hours of the night.
