Mollalla, good luck on big back operation. I was headed for that before getting sick.
found my soft collar today, wearing that, sure reduces neck pain, 7 inches of titanium in neck plus collar keeps me warmer
don't want to jinx myself but hearing grumblings about discharge plans, will believe it when I go out the door. Only going a mile or two away but at least my own private room and shower. Oh will that be happy days. they deliver three meals a day, has to be better than this.Learning how to clean my tubes, 5 separate steps with 5 cloths, non contaminated. Just need to go slowly and carefully. Not a time for mistakes, must continue to impress these folks I can manage myself.
Sounds like your stoke(s) was very mild...that's a good thing!

84F, breezy, and mostly cloudy @ 14:00, feels like 85F. 50% chance of t-storms today, tomorrow, and Friday.

Just got back from picking up grocery order @ The Acme. They didn't fill two items - tall kitchen garbage bags, which were on sale and some fresh rosemary, which is needed for today's menu selection:

Braised Lamb Shoulder Chops Recipe - Allrecipes.com

Fortunately I was able to pick up the rosemary at the local vegetable market/deli on the way back ...

Further work on the repairing the 5 1/2" Craftsman Bench vise whose screws that hold the jaws are striped (or, more accurately, the holes the screws go into are stripped) due shortly ...

Part of why this is a problem (IMHO) is a design/production shortcoming: the original screws that were used, were thread-cutting screws ... probably as a cost-saving measure.

The screws I picked up at the hardware store the other day are both too short, and I suspect too small of a diameter.

It is a bit of a dilemma: I believe the vise is probably cast iron, not cast steel. So it seems that anything would heat it, or parts of it up significantly (like filling the screw holes with braze so they could be tapped out again) probably wouldn't be a good idea.

I have previously used Loctite 262 which is the red, "requires heat to remove" product. Didn't hold.

At this point, I think that JB Weld might be my next shot ... although I suspect it will not hold up either.

I located the jaws the other day, now going to see if I can find the original screws ...

Wish me luck ...

Ron, looks like you got close enough to kiss that frog. Great photo.

On Monday, we enjoyed a nice drive up to Shenandoah and took a short hike on the AT to Rock Springs where we enjoyed a lunch sitting on the stone steps of a cabin by the springs. Was great weather and lots of wildflowers. Saw no one on this trail but plenty of cars parked at some of the other trailheads.

Never been to rock spring cabin. Nice weather yesterday for hike.

Ron, was the frog a princess when you kissed it?

89° according to WU. Didn’t feel that hot going to mail box.
Still drying carpet. Was next to register, so removed it and lifted carpet and trying to force air under to get to padding.

Around 4am this morning darn owl starting hooting close to bedroom window about 30mins another owl would answer back.
Plans for today...Been dreading this project for months 3M tape molding than paint ceiling edges half the main floor of the house tomorrow paint roller ceiling, that will be enough for one day.
Guess I better get my butt moving.

Enjoy the day all.

Gives me an idea. Wife is going away to visit her mom for a few days. I need to repair and finish some drywall on BR ceiling. Taped but never finished several years ago, above bed and need to move it to do the work. Maybe will do it with her gone. I can move bed and sleep on it in another position, some people cant. Lol

If I could get it finished and painted, that would be awesome.
But then she might want more done.

Wow RNG. That’s terrible. Perfect example why I like to do my own work.

Another small project started yesterday... the rehab of an old park bench we have had for 35 years... it finally gave out, so it is getting all new oak slats and a fresh coating of paint. It is kind of a filler project, so just little bits at a time. Yesterday, I was able to take it apart, wire brushed the cast iron parts, and get a coating of rust reformer on them. Maybe today they will get a first coat of paint.
!

I got one just like that in the same condition. Put the ends in the barn somewhere. I’d forgotten about it.

rswyan- That's a great recipe. It reads to be great eats. I am happy to read that you were able get fresh rosemary.

We eat a lot of lamb and dried rosemary does not cut it = I keep two rosemary plants. I keep them under grow lights in my cellar garden all Winter and replant them the following Spring. Mine are going back to the garden tomorrow. Another nice rosemary recipe is rosemary encrusted baked potatoes. Fresh rosemary is best, but dried rosemary will work with this dish.

I spent the morning taking out trip hazards in one of my walking paths. I've been tripping over these tree/sapling stubs on my walking path for years; I do not think that I'll miss them. My new hedge trimming attachment is really sharp. I cut myself removing the scabbard. It worked as expected. Tomorrow I'll be taking out the branches that I've been ducking under for the same time period with the pruning saw attachment.

RNG, sorry to read and see those challenges.
When I had the major upgrade last year, I was there. Of course I told him it was to help (and I did), but primarily to understand why he chose to execute the way he did or convince him to do it my way. Compromises on both sides but I’m happy with the results and he was very pleased as well, even telling me he not only enjoyed the work but learned as well.

Of course, wife tells me I’m not easiest person to work for. Guess she would know after 30+ years as my primary helper.

My original installer was a challenge. I actually made him comeback and change work but didn’t pay him more than the original amount. He and I had discussions not fit for this family forum. Funny thing is I think he in some ways he respected it and was my goto guy until he sold the company to the guy who did the upgrade in Nov.
