Happy hump day! Today was the warmest day of the year so far, hit 82F this afternoon.. about 10degrees above what the news was showing for in town.. Warmed up early and then some clouds to keep the heat in.

Daughter was off today so wife and I had day off from schooling the grand daughter. I told my wife that perhaps a good day to repair clothesline? She offered to help, which was very nice since I would not be able to get it done very well alone.. One of the poles had rusted off near ground level so rigged a repair using a pipe inside the pipe... seems to be working okay. We out up new clothesline also (vinyl coated cable).. I bought some cable used by sailboats that has a much higher strength than the typical cables used for clotheslines. We like the sun dried laundry much better than drying in the dryer... Another project checked off the list.

45 right now...today's high in the upper 40's and 70% chance of rain...
Trip to CT was uneventful...dropped two set of blades to our sister company and picked up a gage and samples from a supplier. I originally thought I'd be delivering the gage and samples, but that was an incorrect assumption. Not much traffic (relatively speaking) on I-91. I was back at the plant I work at by a bit after noon.

68 out now, waiting for strong storm coming in mid morning, two inches of rain expected and high winds.
been up most of night, nauseous again, hope my lab tests yesterday help in determining why I am intermittently sick.
Weight down to 206, was 216 a year ago.
Spending too much time in bed reading books, living alone in today's world is pretty boring.

Realtors aren't allowed to show home, hope they roll that back soon.
County covid count went from 13 to 21, then hopped up to 40 something, and two days ago dropped back to 20.
?? Good news is that's a very low number for county, no deaths, but not much trust in reporting.

It's raining here again. Supposed to be a washout day....it's 63 which is nice, but there is a flood watch.

Mostly- thanks for asking, the horse had to be put down day before yesterday. She had been with us for over twenty years, so the wife and daughter took it really hard. She was our first one, that started us on the path to where we are now. Flat land and wide open pastures. I had been caring for her in her last few days, something was not right, so she got a lot of attention and special front pasture walks. I put in some miles walking her those past few days. We called in the vet and the wife made the tough call. We then called in a friend and I had picked out a nice spot on the back pasture overlooking the trees and creeks to one side and the wide open front for her. Said a nice prayer, shed a lot of tears, and went and got her friends for last respects. Her buddy of also almost 20 years just stood over her for a really long time, the others just sniffed and turned. And that was that...

I mowed all of the farm yesterday, just to let out some stress and not think about anything other than keeping the lines straight. Started in the back with the tractor, ended up in the front with the ZTR 5 hours later. I knew my ZTR gulps gas, and I went through 5 gallons rather quickly. I need to check up on that.

On the drone front, I had a cheapo model a year or two back. One of the motors gave out so I returned it. A lot of computer, push button flight. Not like the r/c hangar queens I have. I cut my teeth on line flight and advanced to r/c when I could afford it. Since I did not have anyone to train me, I had a lot of micro-flight and mishaps with the ground. Now-a-days I walk up to the airport when I hear the guys out there with their "model" jets. Yeah, cannot afford those.

Peepers were loud and clear last night for the first time,5:30 am the turkeys were gobbling.

Plans for today...Basement detail some cleaning other than that not sure.

Poured first cup of coffee. 49° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 53° with occasional rain. After my shopping trip yesterday and putting stuff away. I was tired. Conserved energy rest of the day. House cleaning today. So I can spend time outside when weather is going to be nice.
Here is neighbors video. In a few weeks all the flowers will start blooming. I will do another one. I was about 2 feet from neighbor when it landed.
Squirrel finally ate its way out of feeder.


CV numbers keep going up, Oakland county, 7150 cases, 670 deaths. Michigan, 40,400 cases, 3,700 deaths. Deaths in nursing homes is becoming a disaster.

Buckeye, (Dennis) your red bud looks great. To land all you have to do is pull down on up/down stick and hold. It will land it self.

Drew, hope they find what is causing nausea. Mine finally went away. What worked I have no idea. Just did not have it anymore. :confused3:

66 and rain going to 67 and Flood Warnings on the NWS. Wind was crazy last night. Kept me up a good bit...rarely do we have wind that strong from the southeast...so the sounds were very different, and the trees are getting pruned of dead limbs from the opposite side. I picked up quite a few this morning before the rain hit.

Rip, sounds like you had a good family goodbye to your well-loved horse.

BEF, nice start on the drone. It'll be fun to fly it at your dad's when you can visit there again.

My wife went to Walmart to pick up some plants, and found that she had to go inside to pay. Since she was inside, she looked for the items that were out of stock when we picked up our order the day before. She found them all and picked up a few other things. Still had only no-name TP.

I mowed the yard and all the trails yesterday and string trimmed 'til the battery got low. Figured we won't dry out for quite a while.

Today's humor:
During the quarantine, I've learned about myself...that my 3 favorite hobbies are:
1. Eating at restaurants
2. Going to non-essential businesses
3. Touching my face.

Condolences for your horse, Rip. It sounds like she led a long and happy life.

Beautiful pine woods, Buppies. Looks very peaceful.

Didn't find any loose lug nuts on the tractor, but the tires only had about half the air pressure they should have. No wonder it was wallowing around so much. The big tires on the back took so much air, I had to go get a stool to sit on while they filled. Found the backup beeper on a parts diagram, then found the lead that powers it and disconnected it. No more beeping.:thumbsup:

Stump removal went well, this 'hoe is a lot stronger than the old one, but it still took some digging to get the stump to let go. It easily broke through 2" roots, but I had to work out from the tree when it got to anything bigger. Still, in a little less than an hour, the stump was out and the hole was filled. A similarly sized stump took three days with the old 'hoe, and I still ended up burning it out in the end. Just need to get used to the controls, and avoid big in puts that move the tractor around. By the time I was done, there was a five foot drag mark from the FEL bucket. That backhoe sticking up in back makes loader work on a hill a little precarious at times; I wonder if I can fold the dipper stick and lay the boom down to get the CG lower?

After lunch, I took the bucket off the FEL and tried to mount the forklift tines, but the quick attach on the forks wasn't cooperating. It seems I made the slots at the bottom a little too short front to back, and had to spend some time grinding them wider. Then the latches on the tractor quick attach were rusted and sticky, so they got polished with a flapper wheel and a generous dab of grease. Once the forks were on, though, it didn't take long to get the 12" trenching bucket unloaded from the van and mounted to the backhoe. It was as easy as it looked in the video, and no damage to the van.

Finished up the day digging more out of the pumphouse trench, dumping the dirt into the side-by-side Kubota and ferrying it to one of the piles. Really nervous about the tractor getting pulled down the hill, so went slow and took small bites. Still had one pucker moment where I just had to stop and let go of the controls until I could figure out what was going on. Got another six or so feet dug, and no sign of the conduit getting any shallower or changing direction. It's at about five feet down now.

The best part of the day was not having anything break on this new tractor. Finally feel like I'm making some progress, and seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel. Or should I say trench?:confused3:

More digging is on the agenda for today. Still haven't heard from the local Kubota dealer on the old tractor, and the one in Oregon hasn't called back, either. Business for them must still be good for them to be that busy.:confused2:

After two calls to my farm diesel supplier, and the same miserable service, no return call, I gave up, cancelled my order and my six year business with them and called a place even closer. They picked up the phone immediately, were really pleasant to deal with, gave me a date next week to plan on, told me they'd come as last stop to keep weight of truck down, as they have to run over a section of my front lawn down a ways to get back to barn. Plus...$1.09 for farm diesel, 30 cents less per gallon than other company charged. Amazingly low price.
Good time to stock up, sure made my day.

50°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 68° today. Got a fair amount of steady rain yesterday evening, which ended sometime around midnight. Looking forward to the next few sunny days.
