Good morning!!!!

   / Good morning!!!! #110,401
Late start - 46 outside, heading to mid 50's today. Looks like an opportunity to cut more grass.

Late yesterday, my resident squirrel introduced her babies to our trees for the first time. That's good as they had taken up residence in one of my outbuilding walls and I could not relocate them.
So now all I have to do is plug the entrance way and let them have at it elsewhere.

My trip to the grocery store yielded most items but fell short in the paper and disinfectant supplies. Quick pop-ins to other stores bore the same results.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe.

34F and sunny 10:20, partly sunny for the remainder of the day with the high only reaching 42F.

Trip to the grocery store went pretty smoothly overall, with one major hiccup. They have designated parking spots near the front of the store for people picking up and you call once you've arrived to let them know you're there..

They had me loaded in less than 10 minutes after I called to let them know that I was there. Everything was bagged in paper bags (which I prefer) and was stapled shut. The register tape was stapled to sheet of paper which stated they were working hard to try and fill everyone's order and apologized for the items that they couldn't deliver. Near as I can tell, that was only some frozen cod loins that they had on sale. No biggie as we have some in the freezer anyways.

After that I headed across the street to the pet store to pick up the cat food order and that went even better - took about 3 minutes after I pulled in and called and they had me loaded.

12 miles roundtrip, probably took 40 minutes or less. That was looking pretty good ... until I got home and realized that the young man hadn't loaded the four 12-packs of Coke ...

So another trip back in ... after I called to let them know I hadn't got the Coke the young man forgot to load. Got a $10 gift certificate from an apologetic manager for my efforts ... which just about covered the cost of the Coke (but not the fuel or my time) ...

All in all, I think I'm kind of liking the experience: being able to shop from a comfortable chair, at home ... with minimal time out of the house to pick up the order. The manager said they have been getting slammed and were really pushing to keep up ... said they had 263 orders that day that they had filled. Whole new ball game for them I imagine.

Our order this time did not include any fresh produce, so there's always that aspect to contend with eventually: you aren't picking it out yourself ... but for packaged staple items, where the quality is mostly known, it seems to be pretty workable. One upside to it, is that you're at home so if any "How much xxxx do we have ?" or "Are we out of xxxx?" questions come up it's pretty easy to just go look. On the flip side though, you are not in the store going up and down the aisles ... where seeing something might jog your memory and/or cause an impulse buy.

Time-wise it probably took me longer to pick out what I wanted online - partly because they had over 6K items "on sale" and I wanted to know just exactly how many pages of stuff that constituted (61) - so I went through every page ... until I got to the end. You can also look at the "on sale" items by category or brand, which is probably what I'll do next time.

One minor annoyance - which I'll probably email them about - is that while looking through those 61 pages some items came up repeatedly, on multiple pages.

Yeah, no ... thanks anyways ... when I skipped it the first time I really meant it ...

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.

I/We agree. Fortunately for us we can order fresh produce of decent quality and durable goods from our general store, but we have a limited selection at this point. We have been unable to purchase frozen hamburger. Shopping locally ~ 2miles away saves us a 48 mile round trip and we can get local dairy products and eggs across the street; and seasonal local produce.

All in all We are thankfully in pretty good shape at the moment.

Despite a wide range of personal views there is a realization that like it or not we are all in this together or should be. I will wear my DIY face mask in open air curbside pickups and I will wear my 3M mask in any indoor environment like the supermarket/pharmacy? I may still end up looking like a StarWars?ョ Storm Trooper.

Well said, Jay.

If this'll fit over your 3M respirator, why not take it to the next level?

I wonder if anyone else has noticed a surge of "no touch thermometer" SPAM invading your email?:muttering:

Thanks for the laugh. :)

Those and way too many splashguard faceplates popups.

Now this is interesting

Didn’t see this coming. By the time I had finished my bike, it had clouded over.

And as I enjoy my coffee

Unfortunately my neighbor has 2 concrete trucks on site ready to finish his driveway pour. 6 trucks yesterday.

Right. I haven't actually been in the grocery store in a month and half ... so no idea what the produce section looks like there at this point ... although I did have a delivery driver for a small local fresh produce/deli market show up here a couple of weeks ago looking for an address ... so it appears they're continue to operate.

We have been unable to purchase frozen hamburger.

We typically don't do that - just buy fresh and freeze it ourselves. In fact, I picked up 2.75 lbs yesterday that I need to split up today and package so at least some (most) of it can be frozen. Might make a meatloaf or chili with what I don't freeze ... will need to consult TPB.

Shopping locally ~ 2miles away saves us a 48 mile round trip and we can get local dairy products and eggs across the street; and seasonal local produce.

That's a bit of a haul ... glad you have something a little closer.

All in all We are thankfully in pretty good shape at the moment.

Yeah ... between the two of us, we really don't eat all that much ... what we have here could probably last us quite a while.
