Good morning. The promised week of good weather lasted all of 2 days. It has rained all night and is still coming. The last group of ewes that came yesterday are not happy that I have kept them in a small compound so the lambs can stay under cover. They are protesting at full volume, I think I will put ear plugs in when I top up their hay racks.

Had a couple of enjoyable hours of CV "self isolation", sat in a tractor cab, pulling a roller over a field that got rutted while bringing in cattle muck.

with a bucket of custard :licking:

I really enjoyed being busy at work today and not having time to be bombarded with all the CV news.
BEF, for those of us used to being bombarded with nothing but Brexit news, this almost makes a pleasant change :)

Good morning all.

Should be a nice day today. 43 heading to 59. I think I will try and get the wife familiar with the tractor today and see if she can move the burn pile. That and I need to take a walk into the back. We are thinking about getting with the state and county to protect our stream bed with a conservation buffer. We have a lot of soggy ground in spots along the creek and over these past two years it has not been maintained. Mother Nature looks like she wants it back, and the government will help keeping my animals out of the water.

Any one else have programs available in your area that does this sort of stuff?

Have a good day. Be safe and stay healthy.

49 going to 60. Rain probably tonight.

Rip, I've read a good bit about the program and farms that participate and hope you can do it.

Prayers said for your moms, Kyle and Don. I also worry about my mom and MIL, in 80s.

Jay, hope you are feeling better after your fall. Buppies, are you still sore in the ribs from yours?

The vultures finished off the dead possum I moved over near the woods. I got trail cam pix of up to 8 vultures at a time, some fights, and a few of the red tail, too. Skin and bones now.

Good morning, temp is 13°F and going to a high of 36. Wind NW 3 mph. Mix of sun and cloud.

We got an inch of snow yesterday, but with the frost coming out of the ground, the snow melted.

I've got my weekly dump run and town today.

I think on Monday I will go to Brampton (4 hour drive one way) and get my shelter covers. I was going to get them while I was down south attending the meetings, but corporate cancelled them until further notice. I got lucky and got all of my reservation money back from the motel room I booked. When you book a room online you pay upfront and get a better rate. Usually, the room is non-refundable, but they said they were refunding everything I paid to the CC.

Have a safe day all

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 29° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 47° with pm rain. Got 2 item off my list and out of the shop yesterday. Got hydraulic top link hooked up and installed on tractor. Checked out lights on back of tractor. Got numbers off bulbs so I can order LED's. Today I need to clean up shop where I spilt hydraulic oil from old top link cylinder. Then I will probably attract next item on the pile.
Saw where Amazon is delaying orders.
Menards has been caught raising prices on cleaning supplies and mask. What they did was double price. Then give you a coupon for refund. This helped stop people from buying large quantities in their stores. :dance1:
Woodpecker colors are getting brighter.

Buckeye, getting out and doing stuff helped me a lot yesterday. I need to spend less time reading.

Looking, bucket of frozen custard would be good with me. Probably not the same as your custard.

Eric, seat time works.

Buppies, thanks for pictures. Looks very steep.

Jay, hope your fall did not create any long term pain.

Riptides, tractor projects for wife.

Hawkeye, I have always been bothered by fragrances. Hope daughter gets this straighten out with employer.

Mostly, must be getting close to getting boat ready for some fishing.

Drew, looking forward to video of your place.

Good Morning All

Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 5:00AM. Showers early, then cloudy in the afternoon. High around 55F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 60%.

Good luck on your search for Amazon lentils, Don. I think the locusts have cleaned out the online sources, too.:muttering:

And good luck with your cameraman, Drew. Looking forward to seeing some of that drone video.

Twelve rolls of White Cloud are supposed to be delivered here tomorrow. What's left on Amazon seems to be subject to extreme price gouging, including misrepresenting the size and quality of the rolls. An ex coworker of mine and his wife were in line at 5AM yesterday, on a quest for toilet paper which was ultimately rewarded by a twenty-four pack six stores later.

hoarders.jpg
Got a call around dinner time announcing a virtual Town Hall meeting being held by my Congressman. It was interesting to hear the questions and answers, many of which were focused on CV. The good news for California is that somehow 25% of "supplies" from all over the country are earmarked for this state, though I don't understand how government can impose those sorts of requirements on private industry. More assurance that there was plenty of food and even TP in the pipeline, and it just needs time to get to the stores. And people need to stop hoarding, but again, government isn't equipped to do much about that, either. So far, in spite of rumors from Chico's mayor to the contrary, there are no plans to implement "shelter in place" mandates in this congressional district.

My plans for dinner were altered last night when I found the potatoes had other ideas. Don and Kyle, maybe I should plant them instead?:confused2: The green chili was good over wild rice instead, just not quite the same.

I did manage to finish up my taxes yesterday, but TurboTax crashed every time I tried to e-file. The telephone support lady was nice but not much help, and a google search says the problem has been a recurring one over the years. I'll try again this morning, then hopefully try tech support again during the day shift and maybe get someone that knows something more than to recite irrelevant scripted answers.

Hump Day already!?!

Yes...vulture just a fancier name for a buzzard. We had mostly turkey vultures and a couple of black vultures.

Just a hair over 3 inches of rain last night. That brings this month's total to 8.56" and this year's total to 16.71".

Good morning! 68˚F cloudy.
Yesterday morning there were no cars at Walgreens in the morning and then in the afternoon the parking lot was overfilled. I wondered about that till I got home and looked and the neighborhood forum. Someone reported an afternoon shipment of TP to Walgreens. TP can be had if you get up early, stand a hour and a half in line to get into the store and are in the first wave at HEB grocery store. After a few hours it's gone again. I hope this is a lesson for stores and they limit items sooner next time. All pain relievers have vanished off the shelves also. I still can't figure out why the shortage of onions.

Another exposure day as I have to now supply Mom with groceries.
Kyle why doesn't Giddings deliver groceries?

... I still can't figure out why the shortage of onions.

We have wild onions all over my lawn. Yes not the same, but edible and could be used for cooking. That is my mindset. Sorry as it is.

Good morning. It's already 71° this morning and overcast. We're forecast to get to 80° this afternoon.

Maybe some rain Friday .. we sure need some.

We had a Drill, at the VFD, Monday evening and finally got clarification, from our County EMS on how we are to proceed if we get called out on a "sick call" since we presently have no protective N95 masks, gowns, etc. We will secure the scene until a County EMS Team arrives. County dispatchers are given a set of questions to pose to potential CV patients to help protect all of us responding. We also did a refresher on everything on one of the County EMS Ambulances, that was brought out for the drill.

I tried to do more tree trimming yesterday but .. our high winds shut that down early. Hope to get back to that today.

All our Post Oaks are greening up and the Live Oaks are changing their leaves. There's been a huge change, in our views, over the last 10 days. The cedar massacre .. continues! I've got two more large burn piles ready to light but .. need some rain first.

Hope everyone keeps their wits about them and stays safe. This isn't fun but, we'll get thru it, coming out stronger at the end.

Prayers to all.

Good morning to all! Low of 35, going up to 62, cloudy. A good chance of showers this afternoon.

Max awakened us at around 1:30am, vomiting. Again this morning, now won’t eat (which is very rare). We did not give him his anti-inflammatory meds this morning. The side effects are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. We are really hoping it is just an intolerance to the med.

My son had asked me to do some video while mowing with the tractor. He found a place to put a camera mount on the front axle, thinking “it would be cool”. So, not to disappoint him, put the camera on in the spot he wanted and started mowing. The first few passes had no problem..... at the end of the 4th pass, I looked down and the camera was GONE ! OH NO !! The mount was still on, obviously broken where the camera attaches. I stopped the tractor and started walking back, all the while thinking “how am I going to tell him his camera is in pieces?” .... well I found it... the mic and cover took a direct hit from the blade, a small nick on the camera case.... whew!! The camera was still on, doing time lapse.

The mount had actually broken at the pivot. I found the mic.... it is only about 3/4 inch long to begin with, now chopped in half! The camera was the most concern, but seems to be operating correctly.

When we reviewed the footage, it was a disappointment that it didn’t catch the underside of the mower in action... the timing of the time lapse caught it falling off, but then the next frame was just looking up at the clouds going by.... we were hoping to see the tornado effects of the mower blades going full speed....

That was enough excitement for me for the day....

23F this morning, we are all staying home I think today. Wife finally got a phone appt for her sinus infection. Should be quick and easy since she has them every year. Antibiotics usually takes care of it. We'll need to figure out the prescription but shouldn't be too bad.

We are a strong nation, we will survive this and we will prosper once again.

Stay safe, prayers for all
